I am not a member of Gateway, but i have followed this story closely & am heartbroken about what Gateway Church is going through. Like you, I believe that God is going to take this time & give Gateway Church BEAUTY FOR ASHES! I pray that God will continue to heal the wounded souls of Gateway, as well as the pastors and elder board. It's such a tragedy when this kind of sin has been hidden for so long, and God has chosen to bring it to the light. Revealing the hidden sins and cleaning house is what must be done, if God is going to take Gateway forward with HIS PLANS! I am saddened for those who were dismissed because of their hidden sins. God will not let anything "slide by", because that's not who He is! Thank you for being at Gateway for such a time as this! My prayers are with you all!
The first time I had this man of God perch was at the gateway conference and online of course. The testimonies he gave about the Jews in Germany during the holocaust period . Was on another level. And since then he stirred my heart by the Spirit of God. Gateway united God loves you.and there’s more for you. You’re in safe hands. We keep praying and trusting God for Bishop Robert Morrison. And the family.
Gateway church was my church couple years ago and I grew spiritually from Robert Morris sermons. One thing I don’t get and I am still trying to understand is how the church doesn’t talk about praying for Robert Morris and his family. We are all sinners, if he was not lead by God the church wouldn’t grew and multiplied the way it did. Several people got saved around the world because of his sermons. I truly believe that Robert Morris was and is anointed. Remember what Jesus said to the crowd when a woman was caught during the adultery: whoever has not sinned be the first to throw a stone at her. Apostle Paul said I do what I don’t want to do and I don’t do what I want to do and I do it over and over again. I have no doubt that God forgave him and he asked for forgiveness the church should forgive him as well. We let the punishment to God. I am not trying to support that what he did was appropriate. What he is going through is a consequence of his sin, but the church should forgive and stop pointing finger on him. The church should keep praying for him and his family for healing and the church should support him as well in this dark season he is going through the same way he supported the church when he was leading it.
I pray for the healing of your church. I so much miss robert morris sermons and spirit. If God can forgive him then why does he need to be silent? I hope to hear him preach again someday, he taught me more about the bible than anything else I have ever done. Maybe if a church member reads this, they can let him know that not everyone wants him to be silent, he can still spread the word of God. A sin is a sin large or small, but we are forgiven.
Why does he need to be silent? Because he is a pedophile and he broke the law and NEVER paid a price for his crime. He didn't just rape this young girl once, but over and over and over. He never humbled himself before the church and admitted the truth. He perpetuated a lie over and over and over. He disqualified himself from the pulpit for life. As a long-time member of Gateway church, I don't say that lightly. Over the years, Robert and the church was very quick to remove pastors who admitted to "moral failings," but the leader of the church was silent about his own. This is a man who couldn't even pass a background check to work with children in his own church at this point. Can he be restored to community within a church, yes. But to be the head and least a church... no. He lost that opportunity. Then people say that "he had an "anointing", thus he was forgiven by God." Did he? Or was he just a master manipulator who found resources, and those resources enabled him to create things that would benefit him...
