While living in south africa I battled depression and suicidal thoughts for over a year! I decided to return home to Nigeria and when I saw the way people living in extreme poverty were living with so much joy and happiness in their hearts, with no food or shelter, that wicked evil demon of depression left me real quick and i am so grateful for where I am in life today! Depression comes from a feeling of unaccomplishment brought about by covetousness, that feeling everyone is living their best lives while u are sad and lonely! It is rampant in today's world with all the new social media platforms like Instagram etc! It is mos def a demon and u need to take it to the spiritual with fasting and prayer! I pray the good Lord delivers all those suffering from this wicked spirit! 🙏🏽
Really true. It always comes from a feeling of non accomplishment, like everyone is making progress and you are not. That's surely a demonic manipulation. But thank God who gives is the victory in Christ Jesus

I had an episode of that for 3 months with a couple anxiety attacks.
It certainly is not from God or the Fruit of the Holy Spirit.
You have to fight and fight tooth and nail.
Read that bible and refuse to give up hope.
Read those words in Red that Jesus spoke... it helps!
Try to take a walk with someone in the sunlight.
If you can... get a dog and walk it and love it... if you like dogs or can afford one.
Try to get a hobby or some sort of arts or crafts or gardening... do something with your hands and create something or grow something.
This way you can feel some feeling of accomplishment.
It certainly isn't easy and only Jesus is the answer but if I can get out of that realm so can you.
My heart and prayers go out to you but in the end it is your battle!
Through Christ you can conquer any problem.
I know how you feel I'm going through the same thing but I'm keeping pushing I know Jesus didn't die for us so we can get depressed he died so we can enjoy our life
Take life one day at a time and stay connected with God always not only Sunday morning church

I grew up in Organized Religion as well.
Most, if not all are Christians in words only and not Actions.
I am no exception. I know the game plan but fell into the thorns and cares of this world choking out the word.
Hopefully I can get on the right path and in the good soil and be a Christian with my Actions and not words or education.
Jesus does not really hear or know us unless it is our actions that prove we love him.
Jesus was frustrated that his own disciples claimed to love him but refused to do what he told them to do.
The Gospel is just trust Jesus by his unmerited favor and love towards you that he has saved you, justified you before the throne of God. Sure there's mere knowledge, but we're talking about trust/belief here. The faith the size of a mustard seed in Christ alone is what saves a person forever the moment they believe. I dont know the gospel this Pastor preached, but I know God is full of Grace and mercy, especially towards his children.
As for your actions, It's either Grace or works. Eternal Life comes by Grace. You are not justified by your deeds/actions/Good works. I suggest a rereading of Galatians for some people here.

I live outside of Philadelphia and at the beginning of this week. A 56 year old man that was in charge of the mental health department at a local college jumped out of his apartment building. What is the world coming to, if the people you are going to for help with depression are committing suicide??

Amen brother. I'm sick and tired of those who want to believe in lies just to make their selves feel comfortable and at peace. These people could NEVER stand up to the real living breathing God who sent his only begotten son to be sacrificed for us, and to send the Holy Spirit. It's really sad how much we lie to ourselves. Saying that you won't commit suicide by trusting in God is like saying you won't sin again once you trust in him. Suicide is a sin just like lying, stealing, murder, etc. we all struggle with sin, but it's up to us to pray to God to help deliver us from those fleshly desires, and practice being like him and not of the world, but we're all going to mess up even after being born again. It's not going to be easy. I don't know this man's heart, and I wish he would've sought help, but as long as he trusted in Christ for his sin, he is with the lord no matter what he has done (including taking his own life). No sin is greater than another--sin is sin to God and by Jesus alone and the shedding of blood there is everlasting life and forgiveness.
If Salvation is by Grace, why do you seek to justify yourselves before God by works? Are you so foolish that you are now perfect in the flesh? Grace is Grace..you can't earn it, you can't unmerit it. God doesnt save you because you live the Christian life, he saves you because He's Good, that he laid down his life for the UNGODLY. Suicide is terrible, but it doesnt send a person who has believed the Gospel of Christ to the lake of fire. Once you have passed from death unto life, nothing now or later can separate you from the love of God in Christ. A person who commits suicide but has believed is in Christ and is going to be in Eternity with him forever.

Where is the discernment to have a man with depression and suicidal thoughts be a pastor and counseling others with suicidal thoughts? We need to pray that those who were counseled by Jarrid, that they wouldn't be deceived in thinking Jarrid killed himself and is now with Jesus then do the same.
I don't think we can judge people that commit suicide with mental illness goes to heaven or not, but we sure shouldn't say they are with Jesus. Suicide is murder and a sin, how do you commit murder/suicide and then repent of it?

It seems to me the rise of popularity, social media, and pressure of living a certain way with expectations for a preacher is what cause many of these young preachers to go into depression. My personal belief, this is too much pressure that is given to them for such a young age. I’m sorry no young preacher should ever endure a mega church. The pressures and expectations by the people causes young preachers to not able to fully grow and mature and sadly learn how to deal and cope psychologically what this extra attention and popularity does to you. I too wanted so bad to be a preacher in my early 20s, speaking to large crowds. I look back and I’m so glad that did not happen knowing what I have gone through, would’ve killed me if I would’ve became a preacher. Mental illness and depression are real issues. Pastors should never feel the need and forced to always take lead and always preach. If you are preaching non stop weekly running a large church, it will kill you. Their comes a time where you have to realize you have to take a step back and take care of yourself. The church needs to address this issue. I pray for his family. So heart breaking to hear this.
The truth is they don't have the power of "Holy Spirit". That's why satan can easily attack those preachers/ptrs. because they don't have protection against the enemy. And some of them don't believe about the Holy Spirit and how powerful it is.

Time and time again throughout scripture it talks about the broken hearted and how close God is with them. God is merciful and loving forgiving and kind. He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. Jesus Christ died on the cross for all of our sins not in part but a full his death and Resurrection was enough.
If your brain is sick it can lead you to make terrible decisions. How do you any of you know this man didn’t pray and beg for a healing that never came?
Lovely Nessa so are you saying I’m a fake christian for going to therapy and getting meds? I’ll have you know a mentally ill person’s brain is dysfunctional. It doesn’t matter how much they genuinely believe in their heart if their mind does not cooperate. And yes, amen, God CAN heal all illnesses but he doesn’t always do that. Have you never had a sincere true believer that you know die of a medical issue? That’s what this could have been. His brain could have been too impaired to make the right choice. Research it. It’s factual, and no, it does not go against scripture. It’s a legitimate possibility. At the end of the day neither you or I know, for a fact, whether or not he was a true believer.
Lovely Nessa Well thank you for sharing. U have to respectfully disagree with you about meds though. The meds have been crucial for me. And many people I know. I believe medicine is a God given gift. Sure there can be some side effects but the pros of being on meds far outweigh the cons, in my opinion. At least, usually. For some no meds seem to work unfortunately. Which could have been the case here. Also we must not forget apostle Paul had a “thorn” that God never removed until he died. Does that mean his prayers were merely wishes? Just because our situation went a certain way doesn’t mean we can assume others would go that way too. What happened with you is wonderful. But unlike you, I sought God and prayed a lot, and it helped but it didn’t heal me. Last year when I was at my worst ever and almost attempted suicide I asked God what to do and I shared what I believed were His answers with my elders; and I took a leap of faith and went to get diagnosed. And thank God I did because I am better for it. Perhaps you do not have a chronic illness. Maybe what you went through is just what it took for you to finally grow closer to God. I look at my mental illness however as thorn, that keeps me close to God. And it is manageable with meds and therapy, but I do still need God above all else.

I'm reading the comments and am sad. I am a Christian who has and currently still seeking pastoral counseling. He is wonderful in regard to helping with my feelings of deep despair. I have a very strong personal relationship with Jesus...not only faith but I have love and KNOW He exists.
When all of you can pass judgment on people who have suffered deep trauma, PTSD and severe unremitting depression but still stay true to the word of the Lord and it doesn't go away, this belies the question of whether this is an illness. You say it's a demon? Now I understand why some people have such vitriol toward SOME Christians. Because you pass judgment. I leave that to the Lord.
Help one another, we are ALL made in His image. I pray to Jesus throughout the day, but my past trauma caused wounds so deep that it's hard to do anything anymore.
Sorry for using fake account. I'm struggling with suicidal thought in spite of praying every day. There are a lot of aspect that can influence someone to commit suicide. I'd rather advice them to get their professional help than judge them as possessed by ghost. We need to break the stigma and classified this issue as a disease..
It seems a lot of you still have not understood that NOTHING CAN SEPERATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST. If a soldier dies in war, he is remembered . The very fact that he stands in the war as soldier means he's honoured. You can dish out the word, but are you eating it ?? If you were really eating it, it would digest inside of you and change you. You need to get out of your religious churchy mind-sets. Those of you condemning Jarrid, you are condemning him because you feel condemned. You are trying to earn what God is freely giving to you. None of us deserve Jesus.

It's so easy to judge when you are not in that person's shoes. I have battled with depression on and off since I was a teen. I believe in Christ and faith has helped me deal with this illness but I don't think that it's realistic to expect severe mental illness to go away by prayer alone. It's like cancer or diabetes.

Mental illness is a physical disease, and while God CAN heal everyone it doesn’t mean He will... just like God doesnt heal everyone who prays, believes, and fights from cancer. At the end of the day, we are not God and cannot determine whether or not this man will be forgiven. I personally think it depends on whether or not He sincerely tried to follow God but unfortunately gave in to a sad temptation. It’s different when someone intentionally opposes God. He could’ve genuinely accepted Christ, but slipped backwards, as many Bible stories show. Or He could have had more than just depression that affected his ability to think clearly at all. For example he could have experienced psychosis. We don’t know. That’s the whole point. We should show compassion to his family and pray for them instead of assuming cruel things.

One cannot decide his sincerity of faith based on one last act. Again, we are not God. Many of the people we assume will be in heaven I bet will actually be in Hell and vice versa, because God can see things that we can’t. That’s why it’s our job to judge other believers in a constructive way, encouraging them to choose the right things. But we are not supposed to judge someone’s soul. Only God can do that. I’m willing to admit I don’t know every sine thing in the Bible but I do study it and do a lot of research, and have a personal relationship with Jesus. I’m willing to humble myself and learn and hear out someone else’s interpretation because after all I could be wrong. But are you?

I have bipolar disorder and know many people with mental health issues. The therapy and meds helped me more than prayer; well really, it was prayer that led me to finally go get the help of psychologists... I met wonderful christian ones too. They teach about the way to overcome my symptoms with both psychological things and my faith in Jesus. It goes hand in hand. It doesn’t have to oppose eacb other. God made the resources that go into our meds, and created intelligent beings to become doctors for our aid. It’s all correlated. I wish more christians understood them. In all honesty though, I used to believe the stigma too, that demons had more to do with it than actual illness. Until I realized I got urges to self harm last year, and learned that I have an actual disorder-one that is proven with brain scans and such. Maybe other christians are scared to accept the truth because it might mean they even have to examine themselves for mental health issues.

Christians, read the book of Psalms. David was really depressed at times when he wrote some of those Psalms. It can happen to anyone, even people who dearly love the Lord. Jesus told us to support the feeble minded among you. How many christians have so many physical ailments? But yet when someone is depressed it always has to be a demon. Educate yourself, please. The last thing you want to do to a true believer with depression is tell them they have a demon. We have to be careful and use wisdom. You can do more harm then good. Many in churches go through this at some time in life. They dont go to the church to pray for them because of the way many christians think about depression. We should not ever make people feel that way. Or make them feel they have a demonic spirit. If you have the flu is that a demonic spirit? We live in a fallen world. Our bodies get things wrong with them. Sometimes physical things in the body can effect our brains, which can cause depression.

As a Christian we should all know by now that depression, anxiety basically mental health is demonic activity. Demonic possession and demons attaching to people’s lives.
Demonic possession is basically people in mental wards
Demonic attachment is what the world suffers from the most which is under the word “Mental health”.
If you see the explanation of mental health its basically perfectly explaining what I just wrote up there the difference between demonic possession and demons attaching.
Sin opens doors to demons the most common is from birth. Parents who sin open doors for the child to have demons attached to the child and the child will go through so much demonic activity without knowing why they are going through what they are going through.

Beaute' Naturelle it’s more common than you’d think. There’s a lot of pressure in leadership, especially when dealing with helping suicidal people. The weight can feel very. It’s never right, but it can seem to some like the only way out of their misery-whether it be because he was mentally ill or just circumstances affected him deeply-suicide is the only way out. Even the best leaders can forget their own advice in a moment of despair.
It's hard to be a Christian when you love people who aren't Christian and believe in eternal damnation. Such a belief can mess with you big time. But, God is far more than we can imagine, and, has the parable of the "Prodigal Son" in His Word, so, love those who aren't Christian and have hope that God loves them as well.
Makes no sense how people die by suicide by believing or not believing we all die the same way whether it be suicide or old age or sickness of any kind it happens the same .Commen sense shows every one dies the same meaning in all walks of life whether they believe or not. This is truth and God knows it if he's listening.

If we do not "feel" like we are close to GOD, it could be due to us not investing quality time seeking HIM through Prayers, Reading God's word, Meditating on God's word, seeking to "put GODS WORD to practice" and many times, we may need to "cut-out" more of the thing's of this World through fasting and prayer... , Being a blessing to other's, and fellowship with a true strong group of Bible believing, GOD fearing brothers and sisters in the BODY of Christ Jesus.

My wife has terminated her life and I know what is to be tortured by the demon every day of your life. I don't know why I didn't die yet, but I tell you since my wife has gone with L-rd, every night I go to the lake of fire and it's the crying and pain without end. I cannot even shout, perhaps that would mitigate the suffering. I've sinned and I doubt G-d may forgive me. I've abused the mercy of G-d and Yeshua and perhaps my punishment is fair. All my family was killed by the government of Argentina because we stood against the gender agenda, the lgbt agenda. They don't shot us but they make us get sick. My wife's mum died, my my mum died and my wife! She could accept the mark of the beast and leave me, cheat on me, but she decided to stay with me and with my believes, the state took our little child Mateo away because we were disabled people. She had a choice, go back where our son was, with a family environment full of rapists, the state gave her the possibility of stay with our son, leaving me and supporting abuses and rapes in the suburbs of Buenos Aires where they took my son my little baby. She chose to stay with me and not accept any rape and fight till the end, we died looking for a lawyer and waiting for an amount of money that the state gives to disabled people (+70%) to pay a lawyer.

Jesus died so that we would have life in heaven. If Jarrid truly professed his love and need for Jesus Christ, emphasis on truly, then nothing he could do would separate him from the salvation of Jesus Christ. The only way would be to curse God or falsely proclaim the Bible. If Jarrid fmdid this to himself chanting to the devil or cursing God's name, then an argument can be made that he is going to hell, but most likely, he was overwhelmed by his situation and wanted so much be home with Jesus. Jesus died for our sins oft the past, present, and future. Romans 8:28 shows us the certainty by which we cannot be separated from God unless we choose to(live by idols or by hate).

I don’t know everything but I know that blasphemy is the unforgivable sin, not suicide. At the end of the day, we are not God and cannot determine whether or not this man will be forgiven. I personally think it depends on whether or not He sincerely tried to follow God but unfortunately gave in to a sad temptation. It’s different when someone intentionally opposes God. He could’ve genuinely accepted Christ, but slipped backwards, as many Bible stories show. Or He could have had more than just depression that affected his ability to think clearly at all. For example he could have experienced psychosis. We don’t know. That’s the whole point. We should show compassion to his family and pray for them instead of assuming cruel things.
