Bro this Ezio got me to build a whole Assassin Tribal deck, some off-brands with cards to change creature types to assassins. Ezio may be my favorite commander of all time now, just for his WUBRG coloration, low cost, and 2 drop creature factor as long as you use Blue Leyline or something to turn things to assassins.
Adding something like quieteus spike really helps with the ezio insta kill trigger. One swing with ezio equipped with quieteus spike brings someone from 40 all the way down to 18.
Working on this now!!! Got assassin's creed sleeves, looking into an AC deck box AND I pulled quite a few of the cards I need from cracking AC packs so I'm ready to go!! If there's any updates or tips for this deck I'd love to hear it!!
So I just did the basim (Ramses) and ezio combo and it was a lot of fun I used overpowering attack to ensure I can get off the ezio ability but it is for sure a viable win condition craziest part is most times you’re not the target cause it’s seems slow until people are realizing you can’t block and everyone is at low enough life that I can win at any moment regardless who I attack
I'm torn between running some Thunder Junction assassins in my brew for value or keeping it specifically AC cards for flavor, at least in regards to creatures anyway
I run pyre of heroes and tutor Ramses to the battlefield swing with ezio equipped with brotherhood regalia and pay the cost to win it’s almost able to be done at instant speed so yeah. I’ve pulled it off like 3 times now
im torn on this set. on one hand i love AC and really enjoy seeing them in mtg, on the other i hate seeing really cool mechanically unique cards in non magic ip. these have been some of the coolest commanders ive seen in recent memory but if you dont like AC you're kinda screwed.
I'm still new to Magic in general so forgive me, but i thought you could only use cards that share a color with your commander? So if Ezio is just black, how can you use all the other colors too? Is it because he lists the other colors in his effect?
What the previous comment said. There a difference beteeen color identity vs color casting costs. Casting cost is black. Color identity because it has all colors of Magic in its activated ability. The color identity would be a 5 color commander

My favorite was Edward Kenway made a bomb pirate and vehicle treasure producer deck

Esper is cool and a stronger color combo imo. But he should have been Jeskai for theme.

Yeah that does make sense. Probably one way to do it is to make a proxy of the UB card and put a in universe version of it or something
Honestly i like this set it fits the fantasy aspect of magic just like the lotr set so in that context this is a good out of universe set to introduce

You can use all the colors on the commander itself. Ezio has all colors in his text box so hes a 5 color commander.
