Comic Con started in San Diego and San Diego is known for Comic Con. The mayor of San Diego has to do everything possible to make sure Comic Con stays or San Diego will loose a lot of money and a part of our identity. What people fail to realize is that Comic Con is more than the Convention Center. It is all of Downtown. We have amazing weather here in San Diego and our Downtown area is much cleaner and safer than places in other cities. Again the mayor of San Diego needs to continue to make this a priority. The smaller hotels who are price gouging need to get in line. Many people from out of town not only come to Comic Con but because of our great weather they stay and enjoy San Diego for the rest of the week including our restaurants, the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Lego Land, Balboa Park and on and on. People say the Convention Center is too small so why not open up official Comic Con events to the ballrooms of the neighboring hotels right there next to the Convention Center such as the Hard Rock Hotel, the Hilton, the Hyatt and the Marriot. A temporary tent on the field of Petco Park could also host events. The surrounding areas such as Embarcadero Park and Sea Port Village could also be utilized more. Areas could also be separated by themes like in Walt Disney World in Florida. Our nice weather makes these things possible which is why we have so many amusement parks here in the first place. Downtown San Diego could officially be transformed to host Comic Con much in the same way like we transform Del Mar for the San Diego County Fair. We also have the Comic Con museum and we know how Balboa Park can be transformed to host December Nights. And there is also the option of extending Comic Con for more days. If people still think there is not enough space in Downtown San Diego to host the Comic Con we need new leadership because they are thinking too small. All this will bring continued revenue to San Diego which will be good for everyone involved but if we loose Comic Con, it will be a great loss indeed.
There's still just one problem: San Diego is still in California. And as long as California continues to be ruled by the same idiotic economic policies, it's going to eventually reach a point where it's too expensive for people to attend the thing at all anymore, regardless of how large the space is or whatever side-attractions there may be. You've already got fast-food chains closing left & right because it's too expensive to operate in this state; other businesses are also following. Hotels wouldn’t be a problem in LA because it’s a much larger metro area with public transportation. You just have to stay further out. But they will run out of space in LA convention center as it’s capacity is only slightly larger than SD convention center. Most logical would be Anaheim as it can handle almost double the capacity.

@ElloAsty Los Angeles has Anime Expo just before Comic Con so kind of pointless. Sure Anime Expo is more about well Anime and Videogames rather than like DC or Marvel but it would be difficult for the convention center to plan Comic Con if doing Anime Expo in the same month like it has been.
That is not a solution at all, that's just stupid. Crowds are not the problem, even the size of the venue itself isn't the problem, (but it wouldn't hurt if the venue was made a bit bigger to accommodate more guests), price gouging by the smaller lower quality hotels is the main issue here. A better solution would be to enforce a property tax hike to all the hotels in the area who refuse to participate in discounted room rates and setting aside blocks. I think that by adding an extra 20% property tax hike each year to these greedy businesses, that they will rethink ripping off their customers and get on board.
@@BaritoneUkeBeast4Life that’s fair and i appreciate the response. I have a question. For example, What would stop them from passing on the 20% tax to the consumers though? Currently all the taxes on gasoline are tacked on the gasoline sold right now in California . That is why gas in California is higher than many other states because other States don’t have as many taxes on gasoline products
@@briantran3791 Those are valid points. I guess that in order to prevent the hotels from raising their prices and passing it on to their customers, that the state would need to step in and enforce/regulate hotel room pricing with a hard limit based on the quality of the hotel and star rating, as well as room size. The lower the rating the less they are allowed to charge per night. I think that they should base their pricing on current hotel prices throughout all of SF and then average it out. At least that is the method I can think of. I understand that the state is already planning on doing something similar in the next few weeks regarding the Pedicabs and the price gouging that happened this past Con as well as preventing them from playing loud obnoxious music.

For San Diego to continue being the comic con main venue, it would have to and at least add 50,000 more hotel rooms and expand the Convention Center.
Vegas sounds pretty perfect. Especially since they're opening that new Universal horror thing.
Im pretty sure credit card debt went up exponentially these past 4 days.
I could definitely see it moving to Orlando or Miami in a few years
I always wanted to attend SDCC, want to go this year, but I had financial issues, finding out that it was in late July. Now I have a good job that pays well. I’m definitely going next year.
Hope you can make it next year buddy 👍
u should, i would reccomend going preview night, to see what u like, thursday to get everything u need, friday, take the day off, or go see the stuff outside of comic con, and saturday go, there really isnt a need for sunday unless you want some free pins
Does CBS have a future in America?
Yes, but you don’t!
No current mainstream news outlet belongs in America
A better question would be " Does California have a future?"
No, it was a fire hazard inside the convention center. Badly organized!
It was not a fie hazard. They got that, unless there is a terror threat. The fire Marshall is always there and they have a good count more or less on who is checked in to the building. It's small but they allow less people in then a bigger place. Maximum occupancy is just that. The convention center tries hard to be well under maximum occupancy. That all being said, it's always crowded like that. ❤
San Diego is too small for Comic Con now. It has been for years. Move the convention to Las Vegas. Plenty of space and hotel rooms for everybody
Comic Con is the only thing in San Diego that's keeping the economy up, they already lost the chargers, CC is the only left
They need to split it up, maybe a dedicated actual comic centric con and then a movie centric con. There’s just too much going on over the course of four days. The last time I was there five or six years ago you felt like cattle Haven’t been back since.
Makes sense. I believe there's an Anime-Con in LA somewhere. We should steal that and split the crowd up down here lol.
San Diego better come up with better deals unless they want to loose all the cash revenues
So the hotels are getting greedy. FYI the convention center does have an expansion project waiting to start.
Comic Con should leave San Diego, so that we can get rid of the Airbnb problem.
Just curious, what's the air bnb problem? Never been to one before.

It’s going to move to Vegas or Los Angeles i already know it.
I always wanted to go, a dream if mine, but never been. I plan to go. I want to raise money to go in 2027
good thing i went on 1 day in friday
No, SanDiego cant keep
the Convention. We have done nothing to help out CC in the last 5 years, Our Democratic Government isnt Business Friendly, We went Thursday Night, too mqny people were in the Gas Lamp and Convention Center, No room for all that were here
Crazy because it started here
Remember comic Con was just that nothing but comics back in the seventies... You did not have toys you did not have exclusives none of that junk it's gone away from its flavor😢.....
Go to Los Angeles please!!
How much bigger can it get .....just have it on in the desert then you have a lot of room and no complaints just put a lot of sunblock on
There are people on the waiting list to get tables. Some already passed the 4 year mark.
They took away horton plaza
They took away the ice skating ring that was there during the holidays
Nbc studios dipped
They took away qualcom stadium
They took away our football team
What are we left with aside from the padres seaworld and the zoo? Homeless tweakers and generic brewerys with shitty hipster art ):
Please leave our comic con alone.
Not after the 14 trafficked victems😭😭
🎤 Is the reporter (Isabella) - Jay Leno's daughter?!? 🤔
Networks won't hire attractive white girls anymore. Every reported now is a chubby Latina or black or homo
Yes
I’ve been going 23 years in a row to SDCC, last weekend being my latest one. And it’s outgrown San Diego.
Las Vegas is the only city & convention center that could handle it all that Hollywood talent would be willing to travel to. I would love for it to move there for 5 years as an experiment.
Why leave? They have the interest. They have the numbers.
They've also got the high prices, the high crime, the collapsing infrastructure & ancillary businesses (i.e., restaurants, etc.)
@@MrPGC137Ron DeSantis? Is that you?
@@bartblankenfeld3990 MTG is that you?
@@bartblankenfeld3990 No, sir. But I have eyes, ears and what is known as 'an active intelligence.' I see no purpose in avoiding or ignoring the obvious facts before me. But thanks for the compliment anyway.
Los Angeles is too small in Anaheim is too small good luck
I think it should travel and pick different states. 😂
should be in LA
No...LA is not the place for them fragile geeks.
With costs & crime on the increase in California and all the fast-food chains closing up shop & leaving the state as well, I don't see how much longer Comic-Con can continue operating in this crazy state. Sooner or later, they're probably going to end up packing up & leaving as well, just as a matter of economic practicality.
Move it to Ontario or Fullerton.
Same old blah blah blah. Nothing will change except next year..youll pay more.
Hopefully not.. too many weird religious freak protesters lining the streets outside the convention center shouting on megaphones and it's really annoying
It's not even about the comics anymore
no its too big and needs to be held at the la convention center its good for san Diego but its not good for the fans and the people who have no room to even purchase at the comic con
Comic con is wack
🖤🖤🖤
anime expo > comic con
Move it to vegas
Move to Las Vegas...
Maybe extend comic con to a full week. ...Texas maybe san antonio has a lot of room and hotels and its a lot cheaper. Plus the food is much better and you can still call it SDCC in Texas. Take it on a country tour.
The problem there is lots of the Hollywood talent won’t be willing to fly or drive to anywhere in TX for it. It’s gotta stay close to so cal for them to show up.
Other cities would charge way more than what Diego charges for hotels💯.
not Las Vegas
Yes, they would, and no one would want to be dressed up in costumes in 120-degree heat.
@@JF-lv8rn SD hotels need to cut their rates or Comic con is gone to Vegas in 2028. Also, Vegas Convention Center can hold two times the amount of people the SD one can. I just looked in up Google and SD has a little over 60,000 hotel rooms and Vegas has 155,000 hotels rooms on The Strip
@@JF-lv8rn the Vegas convention center holds 250K. SD convention holds only 125K. In Vegas nobody would be outside they would all be inside in the AC
People tend to walk around .....oh that's Right your convention center isn't next to a bay it's in a Desert 🥵🤣🤣
Come to Los Angeles convention center. We'll treat the fans right.
Another solution is to double the prices of the tickets and then cut the quantity of tickets by half. Less crowds and revenue stays the same.
I am planning on not going in 2025 and 2026
congrats here's your validation comment for 2025-2026
I hope San Diego loses it!
nah san diego is a good place, vegas is bigger, but people would gamble more over there, and it would overcrowed vegas, LV is already super packed, sd is a good spot
Look at those people dressing up in drag.
Go to sleep.
That was happening long before the woke mob rioted over the orange man.
Your point?
@Sirhc2023 Yes, your Dad must be tickled pink, is he still wearing that Wonder Woman outfit to Walmart every Friday night? He's a hoot!
Its going to stay in San Diego. There's always talk its not returning
