I've been attempting to record electronic music since the early 2000's with little to no training or musical background. I've been lucky enough to be able to play with lots of plug ins. Nick is one of my heroes when it comes to producing this type of music. He's a modern day genius and virtuoso. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge with us, Nick!
I love these kinds of videos, Nick! No hype or silly animations, but well produced all the same. Down the middle, informative advice from a guy who is great at what he does!
Nick, we understand that social media takes a lot of time, but we wanted to hear and see new videos. You explain everything perfectly. I hope you are doing well and have not lost your passion for music. Respect from Russia.
Pogo you music inspired my to follow my artistic dreams, I listened to Weightless on repeat while I did my portfolio. I just started my first job as a Animator. You have inspired me so much, thank you 🙏🏻
Great selection Nick! That's one of the reasons I've started bouncing out stems from Ableton into ProTools when mixing in the effort to keep producing & mixing workflows separate
Why do not more people watch this. He is an aclaimed and loved producer for more than 10 Years with millions of views on his songs and people watch toturials by people who's work you barely find on the web. RUclips is astounding in this regard. (FacePlam)
Man i got to say. I knew i liked your music when i discovered you recently. But these videos are the absolute best! You basically just reinforced what I'm starting to learn on my own by constantly making song after song after song. I have been spending so much if my time trying to make similar songs from my favorite artists and i was kinda bashing myself because they always turned out the same way. And now i realize that is how MY sound is. It was nothing to feel bad about. I just made it my own. Which in the long run is what i always wanted to do. Unfortunately i am still using bandlab and everything is made on my phone.. lol Yeah know what you're thinking i need to stop it. But i learned on that platform and i tried using cakewalk but its like im trying to learn a new language I can't even make a beat loop. So its a bit discouraging. But in the meantime i will continue honing my craft and once the time comes ti switch programs i will try and replicate my sound the best i can or make something new. But i appreciate these types of videos. Its helping me so much!
Awesome list. I think my favorite thing about the Pro Q 3 is the sidechain feature for dynamic EQing. Being able to specify what frequencies are being ducked by a conflicting source makes it such a powerful mixing tool.
Love fabfilter, I use several instances of pro-MB on essentially every project (mostly dialogue driven commercial/tv). I also use Valhalla shimmer a fair amount for design and used reverberate (also from liquidsonics) for many years although I have moved to ‘space’ for convolution reverb. As far as tape distortion, I have a few but I always liked scream4 in reason. It’s not exactly efficient to go round trip to reason just for that so I don’t use it much anymore but I love it. Solid choices you have there.
This is so cool to learn. Like I don't know any of this stuff, none of this is useful information for me specifically but, it's so interesting and fun. Nice video. 🧡
Day two of Ableton and you helped me think about how I should approach my workflow indirectly by what you relayed in this video, thanks for your insider views, love your music and mixes you stand out like no other and go beyond trends to carve out your own corner.
Love you pogo, but you know, i've never understood how so many people can't live without pro-q. I don't think there was ever a time where carving out a hair-comb into my track was the thing that made or broke my mix.
I've been using Presswerk and Vanhalla ever since you recommended it 2 years ago on stream. Been using it for every project. Going to take a look at the others that you recommended as well. Thanks for the help, man
Hey @Pogomix was wondering if you might be uploading another video soon? I love that I learned so much from this one and believe I am ready for a part 2!! thanks!
In all the time that I have dabbled in music production, I've never thought of splitting left/right brain work. I feel so silly lol but damn, thank you for that.
In terms of getting a clean mix I would love to hear what speakers/headphones/hardware you use currently as well as any thoughts you have on room acoustics.
Pogo, have you ever done a video about mixing like your "How I Remix Movies" video? I've always liked how your work sounded, seeing how you in particular go about it would be really interesting. "Alice" was one of the first videos I favourited all those years ago.
I wonder if you have tried Pro Q3. I upgraded to it from pro Q2 recently and the dynamics control makes it the most powerful eq plugin I have ever used. I suppose in a way it adds ‘sooth’ capabilities
I’m trying to remix a video of mine that went viral last year, I’ve been trying to remix it like the way you do with your projects, but man is it hard! Just to know what sort of beat to create is hard. Do you have any advise to help me at all?
You are spoiling us nick
Who the hell is a nick? Is it a type of Pogo?
rob rick the only type of pogo
What's a Nick Bertke?
@@yebii_ seriously
Mastering scares the hell out of me. But, it's awesome to know these useful tools exist.

Do you post on RUclips? Where can i hear your music?
It’s great to see some of the thought process via these plugins.

Pogo must have one of the best mancaves. Change my mind...
Very good advice. Thank you.

Awesome to see some of your thought process and workflow! All great plugins, this was a great, thorough breakdown.
Very cool man! Just want to say that I miss your Radio Pogo streams. 🙂👍
Yeah
Really inspirational words near the end. Thanks for the great video!
Hey, Nick. Found out you and I were born exactly 10 years apart! Love your work, lots of love.
Good video nick. I like your engineering and design level of reviewing plugins on both a beginner and professional level.
Great selection Nick!

I've had my eyes set on VintageVerb and Pro-Q for quite some time, but I'm glad to see how you mentioned the others that transformed your mix.
I must also commend your use of dramatic lighting. Well done

Always a pleasure to learn from you. Would love to see you teach music theory/talk about how you got started playing music.
Thanks. Love your work always
Rad another video this week and its really helpful and entertaining.
Thanks for sharing! I could learn this in a few years.

LOVE U NICK!!!!!!!
Thank you for the tips sir.
This is awesome
Thank you brother.
What perfect timing!! Thanks Nick!!
I can watch and listen to you talking about grass growing and I'd still thoroughly enjoy it.
Thank you so much!!!

I can't get enough of Nick showing us his workflow! Keep it coming!!
I started to eq all of my sounds just this year… and wow I must say my production quality sky rocketed

The content is back baby
time to part 2! love that so much
It's always great to get a peek at your production process, thanks for sharing!
Insanely helpful. Bless you Pogo!
Soothe is nuts man. Used the trial
I'd love to see more like this from you, Nick. Amazing as always
Thanks Nick :-)
Loved what you said in the end.
Hope you’re well, you’ve been in my thoughts lately only because of what I hear about the happenings in Australia so I’m glad you’re posting and okay!
Always enjoy the conversation and thoughts, keep up the videos!
With a little makeup, you could play Elon Musk in a biopic.
@Kevin McCleary No. I meant what I said.
Bang on for sure ;)
Hey @Pogomix was wondering if you might be uploading another video soon? I love that I learned so much from this one and believe I am ready for a part 2!! thanks!
So nice to see you again pogo!
Excellent video Nick! I was hoping you'd do a video like this.
The "left brain right brain" stuff makes perfect sense. Thanks for sharing!
Keep making these videos, they're a great educational tool!
Love this type of content. Looking handsome too.
Nick, I love your passion for your music. Hope you’re doing well dude!
Nice list.
me: scrolling through my notifications sees this video
also me: oh hell yeah
Wow you're Australian! If you come by Melbourne I'll have to go to one of your gigs, amazing!
Most definitely. Hmm this is food for thought. Thanks Conza!
does this mean we're expecting a new album soon?
Thanks so much
Sampling Kawhi? Kawhi not!
Really wish you had played examples of each plug in so we could understand them.
That IS helpful! Thanks!
Thanks

Love the content thanks so much for the recent uploads!
Thanks a lot for this, you're an inspiration and I hope to talk music one day with you lol
Thank u for this 🤧!!!!!
Pogo, your two recent videos have gorgeous lighting. Which type of hardware you use for light?
Hell yeah.

Nick you mentioned once a plugin that would carve out space in a mix. What was it again. I am producing a game audio album.
I'm looking for that same one too haha. I think he mentioned it in the video "how I remix movies" so you could go revisit that one
@@icantthinkofanything798 good shout. I'll search the Google and the RUclips for it good sir..........
Maybe trackspacer?
@@there_vision I shall check this out good sir....thank you.
Yes
Would love to see how you extract voices and tune them.
Does Pro Q2 have a function to compare tracks like the new Cubase one does? Cubase's is OK, but a bit limited.
No but, q3 does. Eq match or eq sidechain. I use cubase and beatmaker3. Bm3 is the better daw imo and I’ve been doing only IPad for like, mmmm 4 years
Sweet video!!!
What happened to your JBLs man? :O
I wonder if you have tried Pro Q3. I upgraded to it from pro Q2 recently and the dynamics control makes it the most powerful eq plugin I have ever used. I suppose in a way it adds ‘sooth’ capabilities
👍👏
Double uploads!?
Este canal debería tener más subscriptores...
Yeah but are there compatibility issues with Qbase or Pro Tools?
Wht are the songs played in the background? So beautiful ✨
Pogo's secret channel?

Hey is that a ROG wallpaper!? I buy all ASUS stuff and like the logo's too.
You as excited for Cyberpunk 2077 as I am? Hope to see a review
Ooof...
02:49.... Can you compare them.... to a summers day? ;)
I have a question , can you mix and master with headphones and still have a great sound ?
i feel like i focus too much on mixing but not making the actual music :( dam
Pogo why you so Elon Musk
How are you doing Pogo? How have you been?
Eee early gang baybee
Atlas Geneticist here before 100 views gang
