I think everyone should enjoy whatever fragrances they enjoy no matter how popular and some of these on this list are even some of my favorites, though i generally won't wear something very popular outside my home.. but Sauvage needs to die, it does not even smell good omg. I'm with you, fragrances have helped me deal with some very very heavy emotions and depression. Something that has continued to bring me joy over the years, i love it so much. ❤
I am just SO happy I am not the only one who absolutely HATES La Vie Est Belle, hahaha! Plus, I totally agree with the person that commented on Black Orchid and how it smells of something rotten and decaying. I used to call it "the smell of a tomb from hell", lol.
I'm guessing the patchouli note can throw a lot of people off. I used to love patchouli and always wear perfume that had patchouli in it. I do still like it but I have to be in the mood to wear it. I tend to go for more sweet
i could understand women not liking the current formulation of polo green, but the vintage bottles i have actually get positive feedback. just 2 sprays, never overdo it, but people like it.
I wanted to love them because everyone else seems to, but Delina and Delina Exclusif to my nose are absolutely vile. They are so heavy and suffocatingly sweet & syrupy... ugh makes me nauseous. 💀
@@AodhanBulger I don't think they have outlets in Canada, but I have smelled La Rosee! It's not nauseating or headache inducing - I don't hate it but I'd never wear it. I don't like Cassili either by PFM. And I'm not trying to hate on the house at all! I wore Safanad on my wedding day. 😅
I think we must all have very different noses.. My worst one is Velvet Tonka, wearing it actually pissed me off! I absolutely love By the Fireplace and I frankly do not give a damn how others feel about it🔥

Unfortunately I don’t typically ask people what they’re wearing when I hate the smell, so I have no idea what I hate on others. I will say that most fragrances that don’t like on myself smells great on others.
It feels like these are not so much hated because they’re bad, but tired out due to their popularity. If they were truly terrible, they wouldn’t had been very popular to the masses.

So fun and funny video 😂 But Arabian Tonka was really really nice when I tried it at the department store when I traveled abroad (It’s quite difficult to find in Asia), I really want a bottle but couldn’t manage to find where I live. But of course, as any of the Montale perfume, just dont overspray and it’ll be beautiful 😅
Ohh some of the worst are Youth Dew! How is that even around anymore!? Yesatis is horrible too! The old powdery ones or the ones they used to call Orientals are horrible! Luckily they are not sold as much these days but are still out there! Great video!
BR540 is what you'll smell a lot of in Boston, as well as Tobacco Vanille and Oud Wood. You don't actually smell Aventus much. Now I have to get Kenzo Jungle 😂 also, I've been wearing Tea Tonique since I got it in. I overspray it, which I never do - like 10-12 sprays. It's captivating and feels so good to bathe in. The quality for price of this is amazing
For me its ISO e Super. I couldn't do JHAG Vanilla Vibes, L'Orchestre Parfum Piano Santal, and Molecule 01. All horrible. They fill my sinuses like bleach. The worst part? Nobody who wears it can gauge how much they put on. It fills train cars, restaurants, and air planes.
Yep, anything with that molecule is just noxious. Headache inducing, a woman near me was wearing it on a plane recently, it was like my sinuses were burning!
anyone remembers old fragrance called Paris? i was having hangover, and not feeling too good to start with. I took and underground, but one stop later a lady who had oversprayed herself with Paris came to sit near me. I had to get out on next stop and go outside to collect my stomach. I did not much care of that fragrance before but i could not stand it at all after. Too bad that it was one of really popular once on my area at the time.
Kenzo Jungle is absolutely the best Kenzo! It’s such a good scent. I can see how it can be offensive tho, if someone oversprayed this on tube…I would change that carriage instantly 😂
Polo green and Kouros are similar to Floris no.89 and Elite. But much more stronger making it difficult to like. Floris no.89 being milder is somewhat likeable during colder seasons IMO.
absolutely, DG, La Vie et Belle, Le Labo, PDM, Xerjoff - overpriced trashes many years ago, but not so many people was brave to say it loud (except Eugine, he always was authentic and said this loudly - because he was never sponsored and never did trendy things, that´s why i rather watch few real collectors who are not trendy)
I'm with you, LeLabo is not good. I've tried everything and nothing they make is worth the price. I even tried all the city releases in September. Don't own any of them, Erba Pura or BK540. I knew I had good taste. Don't own any of the designers fragrances either. Haven't smelled Jungle. surprised to see Tom Ford on the list, I'd say not recommended due to the price!!! I'm still going to try that new Myrrh fragrance though. Love the video you connected with over spraying.....needed a laugh on Friday night after work. How about an eyeshadow tutorial??? Love that look.
I tried a sample of La Labo Santal 33 and I actually threw it away the same day. I absolutely love fragrances and own over a hundred different ones but that one I just couldn’t stand.
There are just some fragrances that give me a headache or a weird feel in my throat. It's not actually the smell I dislike, it's what it does to my body. Most of the time I can't identify the fragrance though, so I don't have any idea what it was. I do like very few fragrances on myself though. I tried various and haven't found many that I wanted to keep in my collection. But I like Dior's Hypnotic Poison, just can't use it too often or I will get tired of it. And Marc Jacobs' Decadence, but also only sometimes. By the way even though I like heavy fragrances that are based on patchouli, I didn't like oud in perfume at all. I don't know, it's just not my thing... What I do gravitate towards the most is Jil Sander's Sun - it just smells really nice and warm on me, not overpowering or floral at all. I also like musky fragrances and usually when something has a creamy, powdery or warm scent to it. I also once really liked lady million but feel like nowadays it's just a bit much for me. I still enjoy the scent of it, but wouldn't wear it myself. On men though... very difficult. I feel like a lot of fragrances smell feminine on some men. My brother has MANY fragrances that smell amazing on him but whenever my boyfriend tries one of these, it suddenly comes across like he used women's perfume. Even fragrances that are woody and very green can smell girly on him. That makes it really hard to find a fragrance for him that we both like.

Give Lalique L'encre Noir a try, it's all cypress, vetiver and cashmere woods, with a little bit of musk. There's not a note in there that could turn it girly on anyone. It does have a bit of a cold, dark edge, due to the lack of any florals or warm notes, but because of that, it might work well with your boyfriends skin chemistry.
Santal 33 out, gypsy water by Byredo in. Light blue out, love love love by Moschino in. La vie est belle out, absolute Iris in. Kenzo Jungle out, Kenzo amour in. TF black orchid out, TF orchid soleil in (cocain by Frank Boclet now cause Orchid Soleil is of the market)😮 B540 out, Mancera instant crush in.
The L' absolute 40 ml only (140 euro) was the best of the best! They took it of market same with the j'adore l'or 40 ml for 130 euro... An other gem from the normal not wanna use it line😢 that is no longer on the market
My most hated perfumes are Calvin Klein Obsession, Tom Ford Black Orchid and even worse than both combined, Cacharel Eden. Eden is the most horrific concoction to ever hit my nostrils, and its so strong and over powering that one single spray stays on your clothes for days. It is so bad that I renamed it the 'punishment perfume' and when my kids are being naughty, I play around by chasing them with the bottle and pretend I'm going to spray it on them, and they scream in horror and run away 😂 I blind bought a 30ml of it, because the way people described it made it sound so unusual and beautiful....I prefer the smell of manure as we drive past farmland with the windows rolled down, honestly, its less overpowering. 😅

Am i the only one who loves tom ford black orchid? That's the onlu tom ford that i love. Other than that like those cherry line, bitter peach are my worst enemies.

I sampled BR540 and it's dupes. Not sure what it is, but it doesn't mix with my chemistry. On my skin, it smells of a mixture of bug spray and cat urine. 😢
The one I hate the most on others is Tresor. I had a coworker that sprayed it on in the car before coming into work. I got her interested in LA Vie et Belle, which was far more tolerable to me, although still pretty heavy for work.
I can see the issue with Polo Green, particularly the modern formulations. I adore Floris 1962, which is often compared to Polo Green, but I just can't see it personally. 1962 is softer, more rounded and far less of an assault on the senses. Polo can, when over applied, get dangerously close to the smell of those cheap disinfecting blocks they drop into the urinals in middle school. That's not a memory I seek to hold onto!

I agree with the person who said Tom Ford Black Orchid has rotting fruit in it. It's smells like a melon that's on the turn, oozing rotting overripe melon.
Poopy oud for me, that full on barnyard type of scent is not my thing 😅 Also Velvet amber by Fragrance du bois smells like a riot to me 😂 (gasoline and burnt tyres 😑)
I don't like and don't understand vibe on Channel No 5 and Savage Dior. Old Spice is a typical smell of a Grandpa, same black Jaguar. 😉 Black Opium is my favourite on winter’s evenings.
An old colleague oversprays Fahrenheit, you can smell him a kilometer away. I am pretty sensitive to scents and it's terrible that he oversprays. The burnt tire note is so overpowering. I also don't like Tresor, I find it, way too strong and outdated.
Clemence, I love your reviews and I respect your knowledge about perfumes; but I totally disagree with you about La Vie est Belle. I adore La Vie est Belle. It's a belle fragrance and it's very long lasting on my skin so I consider it a great value for the money. At least we both love Angel by the late, great Thierry Mugler. Angel has been my signature fragrance for years. I can always recognize Angel on other women and yet Angel smells different on every women. This bi polarization effect, recognizable yet different, makes Angel the most unique fragrance in my opinion. ❤❤❤.

The worst fragrance I've ever smelled is easily Kalan by Parfums de Marly. I genuinely don't understand what people see in it. It smells like beatroot and ground spices that have gone stale after from sitting on the shelf for 5 years.
I owned about 50 perfumes but baccarat rouge 540 at least for me it stinks like chemicals I just can't believe people like it I guess I won't never know what they are smelling LoL 🤣🤣🤣
It also happens with the YSL libre the original I am able to smell the beginning of it but the dry end I smell the chemicals on it crazy. But with baccarat rouge nothing but chemicals.

The only notable womens fragrance I cannot stand,is 'Ghost' edt....the original one... I used to smell it all the time in nightclubs and bars many years ago... suffocating musky fragrance...almost used to take the breath away... horrible!
Royal Imperial London is definitely not my favorite fragrance. It's not mass appealing. People say that it smells like "Raid" roach spray each time I wear it 🤮🤢. Not cool! 👎

Perfume is extremely subjective. Bottom line, stop over spraying! You should be able to smell it, and maybe someone close to you, but ever so slightly. All these complaints… so silly. Easily rectified. You are not going to be able to please everyone, but you can always please yourself. Spray for you….
Just don’t overuse, some people is very sensitive or sick and we can really trigger headaches or allergies. If we using only for ourselves we don’t need much, but most of the times We really doing it so others can smell us too.
The worst has to be that horrendous Angel I have literally gotten off of trains and weighted 20 minutes to catch another train as soon as I smell that terrible perfume.

I feel the same! For the lulz I tried out LA Rosée, and I actually really liked it. If you get a chance to spray it in store, I suggest it.

Nice subject Clemence! My top hated fragrance on others from niche is Italica from Xerjoff and from designers is Dior Sauvage and YSL Y

RL Polo: My Dad wore this in the late 80's I believe it was. Very nice back then, but passé now. Perhaps it's making a comeback? Chloe did. 😊

My most hated perfumes are Calvin Klein Obsession, Tom Ford Black Orchid and even worse than both combined, Cacharel Eden.
Eden is the most horrific concoction to ever hit my nostrils, and its so strong and over powering that one single spray stays on your clothes for days.
It is so bad that I renamed it the 'punishment perfume' and when my kids are being naughty, I play around by chasing them with the bottle and pretend I'm going to spray it on them, and they scream in horror and run away 😂
I blind bought a 30ml of it, because the way people described it made it sound so unusual and beautiful....I prefer the smell of manure as we drive past farmland with the windows rolled down, honestly, its less overpowering. 😅

I love Black Orchid too, but it is indeed very strong and persistent. One spray sometimes is too much 😂

I sampled BR540 and it's dupes. Not sure what it is, but it doesn't mix with my chemistry. On my skin, it smells of a mixture of bug spray and cat urine. 😢

BR 500 smells like medicine on me. It's a hard NO for me, unfortunately.
The one I hate the most on others is Tresor. I had a coworker that sprayed it on in the car before coming into work. I got her interested in LA Vie et Belle, which was far more tolerable to me, although still pretty heavy for work.
Both heavy for work but I take vintage Tresor anyday over LVEB. Reformulations ruined many beauties.

I can see the issue with Polo Green, particularly the modern formulations. I adore Floris 1962, which is often compared to Polo Green, but I just can't see it personally. 1962 is softer, more rounded and far less of an assault on the senses. Polo can, when over applied, get dangerously close to the smell of those cheap disinfecting blocks they drop into the urinals in middle school. That's not a memory I seek to hold onto!

I don't like and don't understand vibe on Channel No 5 and Savage Dior. Old Spice is a typical smell of a Grandpa, same black Jaguar. 😉 Black Opium is my favourite on winter’s evenings.

An old colleague oversprays Fahrenheit, you can smell him a kilometer away. I am pretty sensitive to scents and it's terrible that he oversprays. The burnt tire note is so overpowering. I also don't like Tresor, I find it, way too strong and outdated.
The worst are the Baccarat Rouge dupes, I hope they all stop duping this fragrance because after a few hours it smells awful.

Clemence, I love your reviews and I respect your knowledge about perfumes; but I totally disagree with you about La Vie est Belle. I adore La Vie est Belle. It's a belle fragrance and it's very long lasting on my skin so I consider it a great value for the money. At least we both love Angel by the late, great Thierry Mugler. Angel has been my signature fragrance for years. I can always recognize Angel on other women and yet Angel smells different on every women. This bi polarization effect, recognizable yet different, makes Angel the most unique fragrance in my opinion. ❤❤❤.

The worst fragrance I've ever smelled is easily Kalan by Parfums de Marly. I genuinely don't understand what people see in it. It smells like beatroot and ground spices that have gone stale after from sitting on the shelf for 5 years.
I owned about 50 perfumes but baccarat rouge 540 at least for me it stinks like chemicals I just can't believe people like it I guess I won't never know what they are smelling LoL 🤣🤣🤣

Perfume is extremely subjective. Bottom line, stop over spraying! You should be able to smell it, and maybe someone close to you, but ever so slightly. All these complaints… so silly. Easily rectified. You are not going to be able to please everyone, but you can always please yourself. Spray for you….
