Don't pull the handbrake to hard in cold temperatures, it is a mechanical brake (a metal cord) and in low temperatures objects contract, if you pull it to hard you can damage it or snap the cable.

@@lollo1171 infatti ormai come carburante liquido c'è solo l'opzione benzina, che secondo me è l'unico da prendere se non si vanno per quelle ibride/elettriche, che sono molto costosi e non tutti i modelli le hanno. Io mi farò una Polo e spero che anno prossimo facciano una ibrida, così in città che consuma di più c'è l'elettrico.

That's JTD for you! The power windows may not always work and the AC has a life of its own, but it will start no matter the conditions! That's quality :D
ugh the climate control in the Stilo was horrible, as everything is that Magnetti Marelli ever made. Every time you'd start the car the climate control would be like: oh the interior is not target temperature yet, must reach it as quick as possible! Even if the engine wasn't even warm. Always every fucking time full blast through the front vents any time you would start the car, winter or summer. Never the feet or windshield vents, always body vents.

@@warrior8154 It's overkill because it started fine. Some cars have terrible glow plugs and some older cars stop heating the glow plugs after the light goes out. If your car is less than 20 years old, there is a 99% chance it will keep them going a lot longer.

I find it interesting that the Citroen couldn't start in -17 degree weather, whereas a small Fiat can start with ease in -27.5 degree weather. It might have to do with the obvious though, that Citroen van is a lot more of a RWD, warm weather, clear roads vehicle but the Fiat Stilo is kind of made for a bit more.

i use to turn down and again wait for pre heating ready 3 times than i try to start with 3 turn off fast avoiding to let the engine run waiting for oil pumped up into engine. There's no fucking universal way to do this, it's all about knoweledge about engine, and how much is cold.

Utilissimo plurime incandescenze approvato effettuato tante å partenze a freddo coi jtd la camera di precombustione si scalda meglio e la batteria non viene "piallata" alla prima faticosa partenza ma viene gentilmente svegliata dal freddo e produrrà uno spunto migliore
1:devi accendere il motore subito dopo che la spia delle candelette si spegne e non aspettare secondi inutili. 2. Premi la frizione anche se il cambio è in folle. Poi ovvio che parte motori fiat sono una bomba :-)
@@stmarino92 Fidati in quelle condizioni plurime incandescenze aiutano all'accensione e se la batteria é a posto possono aumentare lo spunto visto che scaldi anche le celle del pacco batteria, sicuramente la vita delle candellette si accorcia. Cmq i russi attivano gl'abbaglianti (sui benzina) prima dell'avviamento proprio per dare una scaldata alle piastre della batteria!

i have started my diesel at -20 C easily. I cycled the glow plugs 3 times for 20 seconds and after that it started right up. Maybe the guy in the video doesn't have glow plugs

Here in Finland, winter rule is to drive 1h non stop drive once in week during winter period. Also is common to let engine run all night long. So when go to work morning car 100% work, already on :) Not good for global warming, but when is -40c period going loser is that who let car go off. Scool bush:s also make that same. Driver go to home sleep and car is running alone in parking area.

There is no reason to wait after the pre-heating before cranking! The engine will just be colder, with no benefit. :-/

It was -25 and I never had trouble with starting my peugeot 206 1.4hdi. It took like 6-7 turns in the morning and it started no problem.
