Need more of this and less trashy pop music.
I have MAD respect for Milena, holy SHIT she nailed the viola part. She was literally FLYING through the part I struggled with the most (4:16), and that's just amazing. I cried. Love you.
@@rachelminer3650 I remember it took me over an hour just to figure out the fingerings for those couple of bars, good ole days
FINALLY!!! A violist that does this piece absolute justice! Never stop playing!
You're absolutely right!!
A quartet where the viola shines.
and this group has a world class violist to do justice to the piece. Can't say that about other recordings
She is incredible and I speak as an amateur violist.
@@lbsaltzman I'd love to hear her in Brahms, who wrote so well for the viola, e.g., the c-minor Piano Quartet.
As a violist I agree it is a pleasant arrangement!
What an expression ! All of them. And listen to the viola. Very nice.
Great players, great sound and video recording, great playing! Why the dark room?
The viola part in this piece is phenomenal! The way you play each instrument is so captivating, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen!
Brilliant 💐
I will add my voice to those praising the playing of the violist. She is more than up to the demands of this work, technically and musically. A fine group giving a wonderful performance of a masterpiece.
I’m amazed she could get the “anger” or agitation across without locking up. When i have to play that emotion I struggle so much to release/relax
she does more than just play the viola.
she feels the music.
beautiful performance Milena! and all !!!!
Outstanding performance of a very interesting piece.

Violaaaaaa 😘
yesssss
Excellent! And viola... girl you KILLED it! So awesome.
Fantastic musicians! And one kickass violist! Violas Rule!!! 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
The Viola really shines with this song. The tone is so beautiful and full. that has to be a very good instrument. I wonder who made it?
I love the bit at 3:44 where the first violinist reacts like HEY I WAS TALKING
Bruh lol
Amazing, she's a viola queen, best part of this quartet😍👏❤️
Never heard this piece before, but that sounds to me like a top, top performance. Thanks.
4:25 I just remember sightreading this the first day in college in my new chamber group and us all flailing wildly on this big ascending buildup that just flopped. And us all laughing about it😂I don’t know if we were even able to perform it or had to change movements/pieces 😅😬 but i could tell it was epic!!!!
Thanks!
What impresses me the most is how articulate they are with ever single phrase and every single note. They somehow achieve this collectively; something only a string quartet who’s played together for years can achieve. Phenomenal!!
Really great violist. Love how she attacks that opening.
Ok WOAH first 15 seconds of this peice and im like American quartet vibes lol
What kind / name / model of electronic stand readers are they using? I gotta have one of those!
Viola power!
So grateful for this powerful recording--every fleeting moment of youth (the dramatic downbeat of time passing) so remarkably and honestly rendered brings back first listening to this music almost 50 years ago. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Wow, this is SOME string quartet. Have never heard of them until now, but a wonderful sound from everyone and great precision. Congrats to you all. Please give us more!!!!
I'm very sorry to the Violins and Cello, but I can only hear the Viola only. She is amazing! Thanks for the stunning performance!!
This was simply brilliant. What a performance..!! Starting from the music, the tone of the instruments, the placement of each instruments, the way it was captured, the way each instrument is positioned in the mix, the camera movement and the dynamics of your playing.. everything is just Pitch Perfect.!!!!
God bless..!!!
That was exquisitely well done! The Dover Quartet is one of the most well balanced string quartets my ears have ever watched! :-) Thank you! (And yes, the word play is intentional so, grammatical police beware!)
Troy Jensen- ears don’t see dum-dum😋go back to school and pay attention
Best recording of Smetana so far, base on newer condenser microphones unlike the obsolete older mics. Also props to sound engineer for picking the over head placement as that won't record the breathing as much.
Instant woody close sound, lovely.
I was unfamiliar with this piece but I absolutely loved it
Thank you Dover Quartet. That was truly a stunning performance.
Thank you so much!!
Stephen Laird Are you family of the Brookkyn Duo or something?
❤️❤️❤️
Escuchad esa viola tempestuosa del minuto 4:08 y 4:14 .
This is one of the reasons I love Smetana
Agreed. I wish that Smetana was performed more often.
Absolutely love you 4. Please come to New Hampshire for tour. Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt - you rock.
Every piece of music is a masterpiece when played by these incredible musicians.
My dear Lord, one of my favourite master pieces ever!! I think Smetana loved the violas, this girl, wow, impressive marvellous interpretation, btw, I think I'm having a crush on the 1st violin guy haha
Guys! You're amazing! A captivating performance! Congratulations!
The Dover String Quartet is over the top amazing. There are so many string Quartets, they manage really to stand out!
Linda música! Parabéns pelo esforço 👏🏽. Deus te abençoe sempre!
If you got that "sweet nerdy guy" style and start losing hair, you can always leave a goatie, shave all your hair and throw a Mandarin Machiavellic badass look instead.
Please define "classical music" for me. ... I liked your flowing, yet accurate, interpretation. I love Smetana's compositions!
wow ❤️ thank you for your amazing Version.
Thank you Smetana.
Again the best violist I have ever heard. Mad props all around.
I'm sure the neighbors are dying to know what's going on in that living room. I know I'd be trying to sneak a peek!
this raised my blood pressure and gave me a heart attack.
but it was worth it.
tremendous - such depth, layers of themes and sound. Thanks guys, love what you do.
Great viola solo !!! Love it. Bravissimo Milena and the Dover !!
Brano molto piacevole all'ascolto eseguito con sentimento e leggerezza. Anche se presenta un'influenza americana il motivo musicale mi richiama alla mente la serenità del paesaggio boemo che ho avuto modo di ammirare e vivere intensamente dall'interno durante uno splendido viaggio nel cuore di questo paese.
So inspring to see how a stringed instrument can be played! Great job, speacially the opening viola solo.
The embodiment of intensity! Such energy and vivsce that would greatly please Maestro Smetana.
Oh my, this sounds even better than the 'The Red Violin ', it is fascinating! I was stunned by this. Thank you!
Listening to this in Jan 2021 and missing playing chamber music without social distancing. Maybe one day we’ll play close to each other again 🎶🙌
Thank you Dover String Quartet! And the violist! Fabulous.
This is the best recording of this movement out there. In every single other recording, the violist shows NO OWNERSHIP of their part. It drives me crazy, bless you for owning your part girl
This is 100% inspired by the Pavel Haas recording. They deserve the real credit. They are the ones who breathed new life into this piece. ruclips.net/video/Re54b-xsQKk/видео.html
Kind of makes it look like the video is being fast forward when you look at the strict movements from the players.
one of the best interpretations I have Ever heard
tender classical and still so modern
excellent
Absolutely brilliant! Bravissima viola!
VIOLA!!! I just love the violist. Good job guys.
this was so GODO oh m yoegodsa anyways you guys should try out tchaikovsky serenade for strings its a bop
Anyone else think the second violinist looks like an Asian Shostakovich?
now i am
i love the tempos you chose, and your tone works wonderfully together. and of course, an amazing viola solo !
Fantastic!!! I really hope to catch you guys live soon :)
Please perform the whole thing!!!!!
Breathtaking!
This is an amazing piece of music. Outside of the fantastic Quartet, I loved the filming of this, you moved to show the movement of the melody, and it was fun to watch.
Also, what music app are they using? I can't seem to get my search to a point where I find what I am looking for on the google play store. Thanks.
음질도 좋고
악기음색도 너무 좋고
곡도 좋고
무엇보다 연주가 최고로 좋습니다
무한반복 듣습니다^^~~~👍
Didn't know Torchliht 2 stole this :)
Represent, everyone who made it here from tracking down the name of this piece in the credits to the 1992 movie "Sneakers". The "Kiev String Quartet" played this at the Russian Consulate, but in the movie, you only get to hear the beginning of the introduction.
You guys remind me a lot of the Guarneri quartet. Always a beautiful sound and everything played with grace. Come back to Winston Salem!
Why is it that the violinists never get to say anything?!
that was so beautiful, I can't I'm crying
Jeebus that is so good.
something tells me whoever wrote this was a violist
Nope, Bedřich Smetana was composer and pianist. You probably know his Vltava and My Country.
that was awesome! I appreciate not only your spirited performance but the cameraperson's agility in capturing it. too many times we get a locked-down camera when there's not a multi-cam format so this was very nice. you are all such talented artists, I have great respect and admiration for you all! I subscribed on the strength of this video, wanted you to know
Another great performance. So glad I found these artists. peace and be well
This is a great performance - but where's the whole piece? The quartet is excellent, but I want to see what you do when Smetana brings the initial theme back in the last movement. That's a fierce moment.
They don't call me nothing, for nothing.(hee, hee hee) But you guys are awesome!
Wonderful performance. You are all such talented musicians. Thank you from Dublin, Ireland
Yes, from Oz, too!!!
I so much Love your casual dress code (especially the cellist) and place. This music appears so fresh and modern not played by dry and boring guys in prehistoric suits which are prefered on most classical music events. (god i hate suits :D)
Absolutely amazing performance, especially with the opening emotional flair of angst, struggle and triumph.
Bravo!
WOW
Smetana - String Quartet No. 1 ("From My Life") - Dover Quarte. Es extraordinario el compositor y el cuarteto que lo interpreta!!! ¡Gracias!!!!
Excelente muy buena
El mejor violista😃
This is amazing!
Outstanding! Thank you for your performance.
Viola!!!! Amazing!! Congratulations!
Just saw them with Avi Avital in Toronto on Feb 11, 2017. They performed their Canadian debut of a suite called Cymbeline by David Bruce. Absolutely brilliant!
The tempos are amazing. This piece is so special for me both to play and to listen. Thank you for this excellent interpretation 🎵❤️🎵❤️
I've been to their concert before. They're amazing!
I listen to this a few times a week!
I love the stereo spread !
In this quartet Smetana describes the tinnitus brought on by veneral disease something I suffer from though not veneral caused through surgical procedures to clear out infection. However this has left me deaf in the left ear but the inner ear intact can hear though a Baha aid. BTW ma vlast was the first piece of classical music I heard . Keep up the marvellous music, incidentally who engineers the audio recording . As an extra I’m not a musician just a lover of music .
Thank you for the interesting comments! My husband Patrick does all the audio engineering for this channel, Brooklyn Classical, as well as for our other channel, Brooklyn Duo. Thanks for watching!
Dang I didn't even know they had this channel What!
Wonderful Piece, you are perfect!
Creo que la Viola se llevó el protagonismo en esta pieza. 😊🎻
