I can watch Tom Silva all day, despite the repeats. His voice is so calming and assertive, and you know he's going to do it right.
Plum and level, as long as you make your maawks right.
@@morecrapforputdowns LOL
Also like that Tommy (😉) is “experienced” & shares is nuggets of knowledge w/ us👍🏻; and yeah.....wish he was my shop teacher in school. Would have been an awesome class, & probably would have actually learned something😉
....and his mustache tickles.

Tom Silva needs to do a series of videos on every aspect of building a home from a carpenter’s point of view.
It is nice to This Old House branch out with your carpenters and painters. I love the ideas that are brought to the newer shows. This is one of those shows that never goes out of style.
I took architectural courses all through high school in the mid 70's. I worked for home builders in almost all aspects of home construction for a lot of my life. But, I learn so many things every time I watch your show. I really appreciate and love your programs and I just wanted to say thank you.... truely.
Tom Silva is the Bob Ross of carpenters.
I’m glad you guys have Tom back in the show, he is pretty knowledgeable great personality!!
I always like watching Tom. I wish Norm would make an appearance on the show every now and then.
"Sounds good" an expression you are garanteed to hear on every TOH episode.
i heard it first from bob vila. lol but yup
Tom: "If you get stuck, you know how to reach me."
I wish I had Tom on speed-dial.
Hi TOH , I like too watch Tom at work , he's a master carpenter , he could fix anything & build anything , good job Tommy !!! 👍🤗🛠
I've watched this 5 times and now I think I'm an expert; lol. Not even close... Wow! A master craftsman at work! Took a couple of views to really understand the level line on the frame. I think this is the definitive door hanging video.
You should guys be on Netflix
Ui@Butch Hanson hhnnyhjf $
Loved you guys ever since watching you as a kid with my dad thanks for keeping it going!
When Kevin tossed away that dozen roses, I heard my wife's teeth clench.
The closet door replacement and install was very helpful. My problem is double bifold doors that are too long and won't hang on the hardware. Just leaning against the wall. Not pretty. I have limited space to work with. The segment on repainting the bathroom was very helpful too. All things to consider before painting my bathroom. Love the flowers, too! Thanks so much, from the Mitten state 😊
Linda Way sounds like they need to be cut down to the proper height. Pretty sure if you look back at old episodes theirs a clip somewhere that shows exactly how to shorten a door. Solid wood doors are easier but hollow core doors can be done you just have to replace the structure at the bottom.
How Not to Get Laid on Valentine's Day: Get your wife a rosemary plant.
I was thinking the same thing and you're sleeping on the couch
As a female I think Valentine's Day is overrated.
How to paint a bathroom: Like any other room but with paint made for bathrooms. Got it.
1:50 litterally a road behind I’m I live their lmao
14:20 Kevin's disclaimer was so funny :-D
Could you address the mold and mildew issue in the grout lines and calk lines of a tiled bathtub and shower enclosure.
Paul Barrett yea please do
Might try cleaning the dust out of the exhaust fan first...or better yet, get a Panasonic fan with 100+CFM
WOW I love the first house. It is HUGE. . .
Even I could be a painting expert on this show. I could never do what Tom does though
Yeah, I couldn't go to Pittsburgh either.
Awesome, I learned how to paint a bathroom, last week I learned how to paint a nursery. Hopefully, next week I can learn how to paint a kitchen.
are bathroom and kitchen that different??
Great educational show!🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Very cool to see Tommy driving on the roads I know so well. Anybody know where in Pittsburgh this was done? I'm in Sharpsburg.
"The longer the piss the better". I knew it!
Man that is great. I need ideas to make my yard grassy. I have a whole bunch of different grass, flowers 🌸 growing.
Bathroom looks so much better. 👍
Happy Valentine’s Day here’s a rosemary bush
In past episodes Mauro has said pros don't use tape...and here he is, using tape.
They didn't really address the source of the mildew problem in the bathroom. They should've put in a more powerful fan to prevent the mold in the future.
More like the owners need to actually turn on the fan. They could install a bigger fan but that won't do much if they don't turn it on.
Tommy doing these small home project jobs is like smashing ants with a sledgehammer. His knowledge and experience are obvious and second to none. He could build a mansion with a match stick.
OMG THE TOILET PAPER IS LIKE 2 FEET FROM THE BOWL
Could you let us know how to get more than 2 people using the boilers hot water at once, anywhere around the house. "Plumbing question"
more pls
"very similar" 😂😂 come on, tommy.
Real máster mr silva
It's funny seeing grown men acting clueless when it comes to something as simple as painting a room
The younger generations are so one dimensional. If it isn't something they do for a living, they have to call in a professional. My Dad could build houses and sheds and gazebos, do carpentry, paint, weld, do electrical work, repair cars, install engines and transmissions, cut down trees, grow green beans and okra and tomatoes, even set the cat's broken leg (and it healed properly). Previous generations knew how to do things. I learned a lot from my Dad. He died too early, though, so now I learn from Tom Silva and the other guys here.
Small bathroom in the outside garage?
GREAT KNOB.
It would have been easier to pump up the jam.
You guys Should come to West Virginia
18:36 well what kind of paint is it
unsponsored.
Tommy was in my city OMG also in my sister's neighborhood
No clue in the title that Jenn would be here. I almost didn't look at it.
If the rough opening for the closet door was already wider, why not just get a wider door as opposed to using the 2xs to make it narrower?
Because the owner wanted a 30-inch door. He's paying the money, he gets what he wants.
Probably match the size of the opposing door.
Because he's a general contractor and you're not. Be quite and watch.
@@jmfia2391 I might not be but I do know how to spell "quiet." :P
@@jakeschroeder1553 It's called a typo. Grow up and get a real job. You're a big kid. And, your opinion means NOTHING. Shut up.
Sounds GOOD
Valentine's day??
Just inconcievable the fact, that US still uses the ball door knob. You cannot enter a room if your hand is slippery, dirty, full of something or carry something not to mention having a hand issue, cramp or more severe handicap.
How come that only Europe invented the door handle, which can be opened by an elbow push (and even by cats and dogs if they learn it).
These ball door knobs are an unease.
Any one know what type of drills they use?
They use Festool. They're good, just super expensive.
@@brian1157 Thank you.
interesting tom is not using a carpenters pencil
Do they really need to bring that trailer with them? When they know exactly what they're going to go.
So they know what parts and tools to bring.
Jeff is a lil careful, Camera shy I suppose.
Why is Tom using a left-handed saw right handed? I know that throws the cutting line off.
He often does that. Makes it easier to see the line.
I'm a lefty and have been fighting that for my whole life. Radial Arm saws the same thing.
What was that on Mauro's jaw?
How to retire on one door. If you're going to use screws pull the door stops and Hide Them. Or buy a freaking compressor
That painter guy needs to give some fashion advise to the others on the show he always looks trim
Why do they go around and drive to all different states for?
That seems like a wast. Of time and gas and money.
Should do some episodes with other well known RUclips pro's.
Essential Craftsman maybe.
steve has some horrible posture
