It's nice to have confirmation on this nerf/fix. I started working on my elemental builds a day before the patch dropped and I thought I was tripping post patch since I swore I had elemental reload and fastest reload on my builds.

There are so many channels that just straight up use modded god talismans and don't give options for people who don't want to use mods. Not only that, but you also properly explain your decision making with some of these skills, which other RUclipsrs just entirely skip over. One thing thats never been clear to me is whether -insertelement- attack lv5 actually boosts the respective element shot damage for Bowguns. Ive heard yes and no...and having tested on MHW and MHR... it seems to not really do much. While I dont have numbers.. I have had more notable results swapping those decos/equipment out in favor of reload speed and recoil reduction.. faster shots, less time spent reloading and more time spent shooting... Correct me if I am wrong fellow hunters
welll well well, turns out you finally aknowledged that chain crit is nice ^^'. For the record all my builds are self made using "modded" legal talismans. I see what I can get on a talis, then on lbg I go for the best piece that has bloodlust 1 and chain crit 1(because chain crit 2 on secondary mod is the best value you can get for bowguns on a talisman), then fix spare shot and at this point I have 1 or 2 pieces left to chose from and other skills to fix and generally the best options are in the bottom ^^'. For spread I used a ton of rakna kadachi pieces, spread is strong right now, very strong BUT it has few meh matchups like all ammo types right now imho(it performs as almost well as pierce in most of its bad matchups dmg wise but it is less relaxed and for fights like final boss, narwa and ibushi you go pierce anyway it breaks the game ^^').
Wait non Rapid elemental shots supposedly do more damage than Rapid ones? If so, i don't really mind it since i find Rapid more fun And most of the rapid guns being pretty cool, however atleast i know not to worry about whether a gun can rapid fire or not
Ok so I just finished copying the ice lbg set of this vid and went to test on astalos, idk if it's just me but the narga pierce felt like it did way more dmg and more comfy overall vs the ice lbg build, which has fewer shot/tick per shot than pierce, the lowest white number is around 20+ while weakspot is 40+, not breaching 50 tho, so idk if the narga's more ticks gave me the illusion of it's doing more dmg or the ice lbg actually does more dmg per tick despite ticking less. Anyone tried the similar test? Thoughts? I aimed to breach off to ele lbg after my pierce builds got soft locked my MR (narga is MR50+ and i only rng'ed it once using random match making, still need at least one more but no luck after 2-3 days since, while malzeno is locked at MR100, i'm still MR40 as of now), especially when MR50 boss is monke, so i hoped the ice lbg would be useful but so far idk yet.
I made some tests comparing elemental reload and regular reload, and while elemental reload doesn't improve the overall dps, it ends up being as better option as you'll save on ammo for longer hunts. I did the same amount of damage with 460 hits in a minute with regular reload than 420 hits with elemental reload, and both ended up dealing 22k damage by the end of that minute. I'd say it's still worth it for the ammo saving aspect.
here's the other thing your are missing. having slower reload means having lesser chance to dodge. You're also putting yourself in harms way. Lowest recoil and fastest reload is not only dps but also safety.
The set builder is still a little broken. It tells me to add a jewel 1 time but doesnt tell me which one. Also it tells me I can fit spare shot 3 but Im missing a level 3 slot with the exact build it told me.

No need to calculate - Single fire hbg , single fire lbg , rapid fire lbg Normal vs pierce is really match up dependent Single fire is better than rapid fire because of fire rate and also damage BUT it is easier to miss or not play optimally. Rapid fire is for comfort.

It would be amazing, however, if that PP was litterly anything else, it would be better, since Bloodlust/Derlection is on all sets that want damage, PP does litterly nothing. Rip me i guess. Still, Chain Crit 2 3-1-1 is still a god charm :)

These builds are really nice, I was thinking if there was a way to make an "all-element" LBG or HBG build? Of course, I'm expecting a lower dps output but I just want to save time from going back to camp and changing every time, especially when I jump into join requests.
How do you deal with running out of elemental pierce ammo? Boss farming with thunder has been kind of annoying since you can only carry 10 thunder bugs, so you would have to farcaster back to refill. Or is this the only solution outside of just using other ammo types when you main runs out.
Basically, if you are farming the final boss, set all three of your Argosy slots to get you Thunderbugs with Breakneck Bargain. You'll get between 4-7 each, which is 12-21 per run. Don't forget if you are low on resources you can just go in and out of expeditions or fail arena quests over and over to 'make days pass' and get a healthy stockpile of resources while levelling your pets in the dojo. Every 5 runs reset Meowcenaries and get BOTH Cahoot Nests. Every 10 runs use a Lagniapple in the Dojoand swap out the lvl50 pets in it. And make sure Breakneck Bargain is always going.

I am main LBG and now have a problem, tha mats for crafts the bullets into hunts (plants fire, water, ice, and crab lightning) just dissappear, and is a pain make enough for all elements. Anyone know a Good way for obtain so many of this mats?
Ignore it. Raw damage is more valuable then wex / crit eye / crit element for elemental ammo. Those skills are good for elemental melee weapons, like DB.

I think for elemental rapid fire pierce is overshadowed by normal elemental pierce ammo due to how the rapid fire damage calculation is done.

Booster Felyne marksman Feet the third dango is up to you .. you can make it temper but yeah you wont get that much from it
temper has a downside of making your bullets curving to the left or right.
Lucky me i have a ee 2 talisman which i can slip in 1 resentment and 1 rapid fire

Yea I feel but with Thunder Ammo you have to use up all your ammo and then reload since it gives you more bullets to offset 10 thunderbugs.

uptime of bloodlust while firing rapid fire pierce ammo is just for 2 clips at max. it's a waste.

Maybe I missed something, but elemental ammo is based off raw, so you would want attack boost on your build right?
nope, the opposite. elemental ammo has a part raw and a part elemental, atk only increases the small raw damage part

it's too expensive. for attack up to be actually good you have to have it at least at level 4.

Raw damage outvalues it in elemental ammo. wex / crit eye / crit ele are good on Elemental Melee weapons though, like DB.

Tried a single shot build and I have to say, it's not as satisfying as firing a rapid fire pierce lbg.
It kinda makes sense that rapid fire pierce does less dmg per tick cuz it literally shoots double the amount of ammo.
Out of curiosity, why Magma Almudron instead of Rakna LBG? Both are Rapidfire fire with moving shots, but Rakna has a ton of affinity and similar raw.
