- This lecture is about refractive index in physics. In this animated tutorial.
Q: What is refractive index?
Ans: The ratio of speed of light in a vacuum to the speed of light in a specific medium is called refractive index. One can also say that refractive index measures the optical density of a medium. For example, the refractive index of a glass is 1.5. It shows that the speed of light in a glass is 1.5 times slower than the speed of light in a vacuum.
To learn more about refractive index, watch this animated lecture till the end.

Your lecture is very nice😊 thank you for great lecture❤
Sir first of all I want to thank you for your great work u work is really appreciable because u are teaching so deeply .sir but my doubt is that as you told absolute refractive index>1 because light always travels from rarer mediums to denser medium but sir possibility is there that light also travel from denser medium to rarer then what will happen
Helped me a lot for my exam tomorrow, thanks
thank you, this was so helpful
ty soo much for this explanation

I had thought a 'Dyson' would be greater than curtains for street lamps, however this explains that the glass was the reason for the reflection across the television, even with the window under effort from the cleaner, if I had held the nozzle at the window longer, the television would have offered the only illumination within the room.
