In this edition of Tarikh, Saurabh Tripathi narrates the history of India Bhutan relations. Bhutan became a protectorate of British India after signing a treaty in 1910 allowing the British to "guide" its foreign affairs and defense. In 1948 Bhutan and India signed the Treaty of Friendship, calling for peace between the two nations and non-interference in each other's internal affairs. However, Bhutan agreed to let India "guide" its foreign policy and both countries would consult each other closely on foreign and defense affairs. Watch Complete video to know more

Hum 80,000 bhutani hinduo ke paas citizenship nahi hai, chini gayi hai Bhutan raja dwara, koi naukari bhi nahi milti citizenship id na ho toh. Aaj kal toh cylinder gas varne ke liye bhi Citizenship ID dikhana padta hai, ek district se dusri district jaane ke liye bhi road permit lagti hai jo regular renew karna padta hai, sadiyo se Bhutan me rehne ke baad bhi, aur jab ki hamare grandfather ke paas citizenship thi, lekin hamari nahi hai, agar aawaz uthei toh apne hi desh se nikala ja sakta hai hume anti-national bolke. Koi andar ka journalists hamara interview nahi leta. Videshi journalist ko enter paana mushkil hai. NGOs bhi nahi hai, Kya kare, kisko apna dard sunaye hum. Sab videsi ko yehi lagta hai ki Bhutan me sab khush hai. Humare liye koi nahi khada, agar yeh baat kisi fellow Bhutanese ko kaho toh ulta hame hi gaale karte hai. Government officials se baat karo toh sunne se hi inkaar kar dete hai, kuch bolte hai yeh sab raja ke haath me hai, hum kuch nahi kar sakte. Indian Hindu sarkar bhi sirf raja aur Royal family ko hi Bhutan maanti hai, logo ko nahi. Talent hone ke bavajud bhi sirf kheti kisani aur majdoori karni padti hai, Aur lagta hai mere bacche ka bhi yehi haal hoga.

Sikkim was never part of India. It was annexed brutally. The election was rigged and monarchy was kicked out from Sikkim. Do your research on Sikkim and Bhutan and talk about it. Let residents of Bhutan live peacefully. Bhutan will never be part of India in future. I want all Bhutanese friends to ignore false statements and live happily. Peace out!
It should have been Bhutan, not Sikkim, I don’t know about Sikkim, but Bhutan was historically part of India, it was part of kamrupa kingdom under vermin dynasty from 200 Ad to 600 AD. After that Indian kings ruled small parts of Bhutan, Sindhu raja and other Indian kings kings ruled Bhutan. By than the ruling Tibetan class hadn’t even step their foot in Bhutan. Later Tibetan refugees came from Tibetan after they were expelled from Tibet due to being dissidents there. They came to Indian subcontinent land Bhutan and asked refuge to Sindhu raja, who felt pity on them and gave them refuge but they later they killed/chased out those Indian kings and their disendents and established their Tibetan rule in the green land of Indian subcontinent by those Tibetan desert people

Tibet's trust in India would have increased like Bhutan, if Nehru did not blindly trust China and cooperated with Tibet when China was occupying Tibet, But his blind faith in China not only drowned Tibet but a part of Ladakh also went away and today Tibetans had to seek refuge in India, also Nehru used to blindly trust the UN as well, that's why today Kashmir is under Pakistan's occupation.

Unlike tribal communities of north east which follow Indian culture in many ways, the people of Bhutan are more similar to tibet in terms of clothing, food, ethnicity and beliefs. Even the ruling class of sikkim is culturally different from India but British brought gorkha community to sikkim who follow hindu religion and culture which makes sikkim more culturally similar to India.
Bhutan also had 40% Hindu gorkha community before the ethnic cleansing of 1990. Now they are around 20% of Bhutan. Bhutan did so to avoid being merged into India like Sikkim, innocent gorkha Hindus were killed, raped, their property looted and they were expelled using force. They are/were called Lhotshampa, you must have heard about it.
Sikkim is also part of nepal and Darjeeling now present time Nepali is the chief minister of Sikkim and Nepali language speaking in whole Sikkim and culture also belongs from same nepal

First known king of Bhutan so far is Indian king Sindhu raja. When Indian Buddhist monk padmashambha(guru rimpoche) visited Bhutan, Indian king was ruling Bhutan. Tibetan migrant ruling class of Bhutan hadn’t even step their foot in Bhutan that time. Why is this fact not mentioned in this video??

@@Vikash_27777 it’s widely known fact, many sources. Google it, I couldn’t post link here since RUclips deletes it. Also there are many temples dedicated to Sindhu raja. One is chakhar lhakhang. It’s said that those Tibetan refugees who took shelter in Sindhu raja and other Indian king’s kingdom, later killed or chased those Indians out, and established Tibetan rule. Pretty much same like Mughal.
@@wonderfullife737 As a matter of fact, Bhutan never was ever colonized by any country. One main reason was that it's too isolated nation. It has the history of wars with Tibet or China but not with India. Bhutan always fought as a defender rather than attacker. And till date Chinese never succeeded in capturing. During 12 to 18 century Bhutanese warrior were particularly good in bow & arrow war. And since from early centuries Bhutan is known for it's perfection in long-shot arrow fight. You can still see monasteries ( called Dzong) which has holes for archers and even watch towers (Ta Dzong) for long range archers. That's why Bhutan's national game (long range about 200 meters) still is Archery and they love playing it.
While India was colonised by the great Britain, Bhutan remained issolated from foreign colonizations. Later in late 1910s British was intersted in Tibet for Trade. While they came in peace, Bhutan attacked those Brit officials killing most of the soldiers & capturing one thinking as colonizer. British in Kolkata knew that it was a mistake attack because they were never intersted in Bhutan but Tibet. So they tried to communicate using Sikim and later release thier officer as a justure of peace. Later in 1910, the treaty was signed in Punakha, Bhutan, stating that Brit will pay Bhutan for protection of thier officials while they trade with Tibet and it also clearly states that Bhutan is as a seperate Monarch Nation where the great Brit will not interfere. And Bhutan were paid for the protection as there were diffrent nomads of Bhutan in diffrent regions who will shoot arrows for any foreigners.
Later when Brit left India, Bhutan still remained its independence. There was nothing claimed by India’s new Gov't with Bhutan because India always knew that even Britain, China & Japan recognised Bhutan as a sepearted nation.
Later the third king of Bhutan, who was educated, had a vision to modernise his country and began to seek international aid in early 1950s. India’s constant aid to Bhutan made the two country come closer. But within Bhutan there were romours that the king can't ignore that the India’s aid is to annexe Bhutan. So the king joined as a member of UNO in 1972 to assure his citizens that Bhutan is safe & can continue it's relation with India. Thus, India always remained a brotherhood country to Bhutan but there are still senior citizens in the country that believes that India are using dirty politics to control Bhutan. But this kind of romours can never die within Bhutan.

The base of India is Hinduism. India was built on Hindu regions. Hinduism wasnt prsent in Bhutan so it didnt become part of India. Same goes eith Burma who was also part of British India.
India and Pakistan were formed on basis of religion and not on basis of Nationality unlike rest of world. Bangladesh was formed on basis of nationality like rest of the world countries are based on nationality.
Now India and Pakistan are the only 2 countries in world whose base is religion and not nationality.
Afghanistan too have 3 manjor nationalities within it but it wasnt formed on basis of religion rather it is extension of Ahmed shah abdali empire
India was partitioned on basis of religion only. Base is not on Hinduism. Basis is civic nationalism. Just read more about it.

There was huge opportunity soon after independence to define the nation. Nehru was hopeless in this area and was too arrogant to let Sardar Patel deal with such issues. Neglect of nation building continued for decades under the dynasty with appeasement politics and dividing the people in as many factions to suit their greedy grip on power.
