Hey meg, I know you posted this video a while ago but I am a 14u soon to be 16u player and have been looking to get back into a corner position as my secondary as it used to be but my coaches have been hesitant to put me there due to my prep, I have been told I prep too high but I have never been shown how to fix it. If you could explain or do a video on it that would be amazing
@@MegRemSoftball My daughter plays HSU travel softball and plays 3rd sometimes. She has thrown a lot out playing 3rd. It is about the transition of the hips into the throw and having a quick release.
I agree with you on reluctance to straddle the base, wouldn't it increase the likelihood of a collision between you and the runner? You need to give the runner space to step on the base, correct?
Hey Meg! So you prefer going across your body on third? I watched your first base pick off video and you mentioned back to runner (which feels awkward to be) to not go across your body (which does make sense) ! TIA! ❤️
It's more so going glove side. If you go glove side at 3rd for picks, you'll be facing SS. Going glove side at first is much quicker to tag. It's just really hard doing that at third because you won't be facing the runner.
Awesome info. I think by straddling the bag you also take a bigger chance of getting cleated or worse your knee getting taken out.
Thinking about becoming a softball player for the funzies but I don’t know anything about the game or how to play. Your videos help a lot thank you!
Very good instruction! Simple terms for other coaches to be able to teach this!
I love your videos so so so so so so so so so much
Thank you!

Thank you Meg!!! This helped her so much!!!
Thank you so much! This is perfect.
Hello Meg, How do you recommend for a lefty to setup that plays 3rd sometimes? Thank you for all the great information that you share!
Hi! Leftys don't really play third. They may at a very young age but once they get to about 10u, it's only righty's.

Correct!
What about a pick off from a left hand catcher? Shouldn’t 3rd be on the outside?
Are talking about for a steal or pickoff?
Pick-off
Hey! Could you do a video for catcher tips?
My 10 year old daughter plays 3rd base and catcher. She loves watching your videos!
