we can be glad that M. Roth himself has approved of this wonderful organist to be his successor, and that M. Roth will continue there as organist emeritus. However the priceless legacy of years of devotion to this instrument and this church by Widor, Dupre, and Roth will be difficult to replicate by a newcomer. It is hoped that he can bring the same heartfelt love into the tribune so that we can all continue to realize the enormous importance of preserving this sacred monument untouched for posterity.

I would quietly mention that Sophie-Veronique Cauchefer-Choplin was also appointed as titulaire this year - 38 years too late if you ask me. Down to individual taste, but for me, she's the most powerful, imaginative and intelligent organist I've ever heard playing on that organ. And in general, as a matter of fact.

Wonderful! This is my first time hearing Mr. Mossakowski and he doesn't disappoint. The opening Dupre piece is one of my favorites. The entire program was great. I especially love the fact that the tempos were appropriate for the venue, given the amount of reverberation there is in that church. Very well done by all, including the production team. If I ever get to Paris, I definitely want to stop in and hear the instrument live.

Congratulations to the new virtuoso with a completely fresh approach to this majestic instrument. The articulation, tonal clarity and power that he achieves creates a fresh sound almost suggesting the organ has been re-voiced in the most exciting fashion. His phrasing breathes new life into pieces that one would have thought had no reason to be re-visited. Also, my deepest thanks to the audio and video technicians for providing such splendid sound and imagery. While I have had the chance to visit St. Sulpice several times before, I surely hope I will have the chance again to hear this artist perform live. Bravo on all counts and thank you for sharing this event with us.

Possibly my first introduction to recorded organ music was Marcel Dupré's disk including Franck's Chorales from St Thomas Church, NYC, on the Mercury label. Since then this chorale has remained one of my absolute favourite organ works, along with the Prelude and Fugue in B by Dupré. Just such wonderful music. A superb programme here, including a beautiful improvisation.

...the Franck B Minor Chorale is one of my favourites asd was beautifully performed.
I could hear the influence of . Messiaen in the improvisation, particularly the birdsong elements.
Ah yes the the Widor 5th love the opening movement and particularly the cantabile .To hear it on the same instrument where the composer played it is wonderful. As to the toccata I prefer Xavier Darasse's tempo, which like Widor's is more majestic.
He follows several great organists who held the title there including Mr. Widor and Mr Dupre.
Oh and I love the closing scene with theHammond B3 in the foreground.

Really terrific, but as he is a co-titular organist and not the sole titular organist, should the woring not be stated as such? His co-titular organist, Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin is formidable and has been there much longer. The co-title was given so both could pursue other activities as well and share the responsibility and Daniel Roth still plays monthly.

Brilliant performance- on a side note has Daniel Roth retired? When do you think this organ will follow others ie Notre Dame for example and modernise the console - I’d hate to play this as is - I’m not a fan of the layout of the stops for one as it’s not easy to quickly find a stop like British organs and the action on the manuals would be heavy and modernisation would enable a single organ full control and able to perform without assistance- this console and layout can’t continue forever it will only deteriorate- the sounds amazing but it’s so impractical to organists who aren’t familiar with it and I’d find the assistants very distracting while I performed - if I was to play a recital I’d want zero distractions and nobody else in the organ loft with me

seeing as though Mr. Mossakowski was a pupil of Olivier Latry, it may be possible that the instrument could be modernized to some extent as the demands increase for more radical composition and improvisation. only time would tell for this. that being said, i'm sure many would agree that this is too historic of an instrument, especially the combination action at the console, which was a monument of cavaille-coll's work when it was built. it would be very unfortunate to lose such a revolutionary and historic action, and the titular organists at this place will surely continue to recognize this
