I've been enraptured with this quintet since I first heard it 20 years ago by a visiting brass quintet from UW-Madison. Spectacular performance, one of the best I've seen on RUclips!
Superb performance of this iconic quintet! The trombone part is a real workout. The first time I ever heard it was in 9th grade, when a flute player friend recommended I order the free Brass Sampler from MMO (Music Minus One). It had a portion of the first movement and I was mesmerized, though still not able to play it. I ordered the Brass Ensemble LP, which was the Univ. of Illinois faculty playing. 3-4 years later I was finally able to play it! Now that I'm back to the trumpet, after 20 years off, it's so far been a very tough climb to get the chops back, but I won't back down or give up. Hearing this and other pieces I once played gives me motivation, bravo, Ewald!
