I remember starting to learn guitar at the age of 14 back in the early 1970's. I had a cheap old electric guitar that hardly stayed in tune. But man when I used to plug straight into my Fender Champ and turn the volume right up and then play power chords! Wow! The sound of that single over-driven output tube in overdrive was the most awesome rock sound you could imagine. You could hear the power and the harmonics all encapsulated in the sonic beauty of that little box. It was the Ramones sound before the Ramones! I was Neil Young in my bedroom! What an Awesome amp .That Fender sound (even though I'm British) stayed with me forever! Now own a Blackface '65 Reissue and Blues Junior Special Edition. Love playing a P'90 single coil pickup guitar through a Fender amp.

True about few changes with the Fender Champ, Mark. I had a '56 Tweed, and a couple of '66 BF Vibro Champs ~ Reverb being a big change. Twenty years ago I was forced to sell the '56 Champ. Daddy's Junky Music Store ('member them?) could only offer me $200, "cuz it's old"...lol. I got $1100 for it in a private sale. Great amps, those little Champs! Keep up the good work, Mark. You provide an excellent service to the git-minded community! 😉

I got mine in 92 for $20 at a yard sale. Still regret to this day that I sold it in 95 for $40.

Great video, thanks. I think the reissue has a digital hall reverb, not spring. Still sounds good to my ear, though.

Hey Mark! Another cool video. I put up a video on my Vibro Champ from the late 70's. I really want to get a second one and run them stereo like you said. Also I have a Gibson GA-5 that I run with the champ stereo sometimes but it has a much different sound.
    Keep up the videos!

volume three is about a Supro, that's similar to your GA-5, same design as a Champ, very different sound, I get into a bit about why that is.

    It's not a 6L6. All Champs, from the 5C1 through to the aa764's use 6V6 GT's.
