    Best advice I was ever given with my training, nutrition etc is "don't let perfect be the enemy of good". Just turn up, do the work, eat the best you can etc and progress comes. Drilling down into every little detail trying to make it all optimal just drives you mad and distracts.

      I have to agree. This is right along the same lines as the "80% rule". Just think how much progress you can make if you STICK to a program with 80-90% adherence. This sh*t is not a sprint...it's a marathon.

    I've been waking up at 4am for the past month working out at 5am and I'm feeling the best I have in my life. I feel like I've already beaten the day not matter what else happens in the day I got in and got after it. It sets me up for eating breakfast after right after my workout before work. Working out early in the morning before most people are even awake is honestly the best possible way to do it.

    I love your down-to-earth attitude towards training. I remind myself every day that it doesn't matter that I'm not hitting my goals yet, I will one day and the important thing is that I am on my way there. Every day.
    I go to the gym at 6 every morning, would go earlier if it opened earlier. I love it. It means that most days I start off with something I enjoy a lot. And some days I get it over with first thing in the morning if it just feels a bit like a chore. No time to overthink and make excuses.
    And training in the morning means meeting the same people every day. We're all there to work on ourselves and it's too early to do anything but that. So there's this focus with everyone in the gym and it motivates me a lot being in this little journey with the same people every day.

    Exactly what I do and why I do it. I’m naturally an early riser and instead of 1) risking procrastination with my session, 2) risking life throwing wrenches in my plans, 3) spending too much time stressing about “if you don’t sleep 9 hours a night you will never get gains and die 10 year early” or “if you train before 3 pm you are 50% weaker” - I hop on my bike and show up in a mostly empty gym before sunrise, get my session in, and feel like I’ve already accomplished honest work when most are just starting to wake up...so yeah, being a member of the morning crew works wonders for me!

    For me personally i feel like I need to be doing something important after going to the gym first thing in the morning in order for me to do it consistently and enjoy it.
    I used to wake up at 4am (sometimes 3:30am) to be at the gym at around 5am and get in my training, breakfest, shower etc. before school at 8am. I did this consistently for months and at the time it wasn't even hard. It felt good and became a habit. Now I've graduated high school and I currently don't really have a consistent schedule consisting of work, studying etc. I've found that I have absolutely zero motivation/desire to go to the gym early now and I think it's because once I'm done I can technically just go home and chill/sleep so why even bother... Long story short I feel like you need to fit your gym sessions into a schedule sort of like work that you can't call in sick to whenever you feel like it, in order for it to become a true habit that you just never skip. There needs to be a greater purpose for waking up early and getting it done first thing in the morning and me not feeling any desire to do that atm is also a sign that I've got too much time on my hands and need to get my fingers out my ass...

    I really like this video, that is so true.
    Until the Coronavirus spread here in Germany and we had restrictions, I was training after work. That wasn‘t easy, we have lots of projects and I am a voluteer firefighter, so my day was often ruled by long hours at work and appointments after work.
    For long years I did not make many progress because i switched or canceled the training on many days.
    With the restrictions I began to train more constantly again. I was able to train whenever I wanted, so i chose to train first in the morning. Starting with an novice plan, but three months ago I switched to a variation of the brazilian method.
    When the restrictions were loosened up, I stayed to this training at the morning and do it until today strict before driving to work, that is about at 5.00AM. That was one of the best decisions of my life! Adherence is much more easy and that changes my feeling. To start the day with a workout is really a manifestation.

    If you fall asleep straight when you hit the pillow that's a sign of too few sleep in the recent time. There's enough studies that show 7-9 hours is essential

    • @johnnyclaymore6725
      @johnnyclaymore6725 3 года назад +1

      Optimal* "Essential" implies that an organism is incapable of maintaining life without it. Also, the 7-9 hours is true for most people, however, some people are able to maintain normal physiological processes on less sleep. It depends on the person. Keep in mind: studies =/= law. Studies only add support for a hypothesis/theory. If you can continuously support a habit (like getting 6 hours of sleep) without diminishing quality of life, then go for it. If you need 7-9 hours, go for it.
