@@historyattheokcorral Thank you OKcorral, I just ment the usage in this comment stream, sorry for being spicey. A lot going on for my people right now. Also, I have a bit of a pet peeve, I keep running into "Black Foots" that don't know anything about Browning or have no connection to the Reserves in Alberta. I never thought Blackfoot would become the new Cherokee.
Thank you for bringing up that there are four different bands making up the Blackfoot Confederacy. And if I may 39:36 Siksika sounds like (Sit-sit-ka) Kainai (Kai-ya-nie) Piegan (Peg-ann, yes like the witch craft one) Piikani (Pick-ka-nee) and Gros Ventre is (Grow-von, it's french) Also difference between Blackfoot/Blackfeet is Blackfeet or the Amskapi Piikani are in the U.S. and the other bands in Canada are Blackfoot. Thanks again, great video 👍
My great-grandfather was a Piegan Blackfoot man who was kidnapped by a Christian missionary couple and used as a slave until being shamed into sending him to the Carlisle Indian Industrial Academy. He gave me my name in a ceremony conducted by him and my Cherokee grandfather. My Blackfoot great-grandfather was very stoic man to everyone but me and my Cherokee grandfather. When he was with us, he had a great sense of humor and had us laughing constantly. Only 5 years ago I learned that he served in World War I as a sniper just as I had during my 15 years in the military. That tied us together in a very intense way that made me feel so much closer to him than I had even before. I have a photo of him holding me as a new baby and there are tears in his eyes. I'm sure that the idea of ever having a great grandson when he was kidnapped those many decades before had never entered his mind. He was a great man and was so very kind to me as a boy. Blessings to you all. 🪶🪶👍🪶🪶
Everyone was brutal in those days. Still are today if you think about it. It’s all about territory and resources. I would’ve brutal too if someone tried to take my land and yes that includes the native amount themselves as well. Shows even how bad and hard we have it now things can always be worse.

Why haven't there been any movies focused on historical battles or conflict between tribes. The only one I can think of is Last of the Mohicans, but the conflict was just background to the main story. Westerns usually focus on the same trope of Native American vs. White Man or white savior complex etc. Not complaining but it would be a different approach...film wise.
I gotta say I have not met a native in the modern day with a beard. Im guessing it has to be genetics unless they are just really committed to not having facial hair
@ lol when your young it looks like cat fish wiskers and really doesn't look that great but hey some of these young guys rock it anyway. then when you get into your late 30's early 40's you can actually grow a full stash and goatee if you want. You see a Native with facial hair it's because they earned it! 😜
It’s in genetics. I have Cherokee in me and it’s took a long time to grow a crappy beard but I guess the European side of me made my hair on my head thin out. lol.

Very true but that’s been a fact/way of the world since the dawn of mankind. Even till this day it’s not about what you can get, it’s about what you can keep and defend. People being conquered has been the harsh fact of life since it’s beginning.
