They also hate being fat though. They’re always saying how difficult it is to be fat and how much they struggle. Why is it surprising that people would want to lose weight?

they like to claim there are many benefits to being obese, but the next time you hear them speak they're complaining about how how they can't do this or that, or fit here or there, but they also like to chalk that up to being society's fault for not making their products or services revolved around morbid obesity, and not their problem for being morbidly obese.

I think the thing is that they LOVE being a victim more than they hate being fat, though.
So thats why its never an option to change. Bc in order to change your body and your life you have to give up that victim mentality in a way or another and take accountability for what you can control but are choosing not to.
These people whole personalities are talking on the internet how society hates them, how they are discriminated, how nothing is thought to accommodate them, how people secretly want them to disappear but they keep “resisting” or “dgaf” (yeah, right).
If they admit they have some degree of responsibility for their lives “being tougher than everyone else’s”, than they suddenly loose that card and are faced with the uncomfortable reality that they can indeed do something about it, but are choosing not to. And then the tables turn and they are no longer in the position of power whetr they can critique everything and everyone but can never be criticized back bc they are a “marginalized group”.

@@lalailmthis!! Their extreme need to be victims is so strong that they’d rather go up against the entire commercial flying industry than just eat healthier so they can fit the seats. They know all their requirements are so impossible to reach that it’ll allow them to complain for the rest of their life. If tomorrow all seats in planes, cars, restaurants were transformed to be double the size (and all the other stuff they want), these fat activists would be miserable, because no one would pity them or argue with them, which is what they thrive on. I feel bad for all the chill fat people that this movement claims to speak for

Never told them they should. Just changed my usual order from jack and coke to club soda. They HATED that. No one likes to see living breathing proof that it can (or worse, should) be done. I agree. I think most of these people have internalized the bullying they have gone through for being fat and stepping into the fat acceptance space has only made it worse. Especially with these creators, everything in their lives is about being fat; even their work, so they can NEVER get a break from being reminded that they’re helplessly fat. I know plenty of overweight people who don’t primarily identify as “fat”, but as all kinds of other stuff. Before they even think about that, they’d identify as parent, writer, friend, manager, musician, husband/wife etc.

It's remarkable how fat activists are so livid about a former fat person losing the weight. They lash out in so many ways and ascribe so much negativity to it. If they were truly body positive they would be encouraging people to do whatever they feel is best for them. But they are not truly body positive. They feel helpless with their weight (and that's a relatable feeling) so they just want it to be "just how they are" instead of what they are eating. They don't like to be reminded that their weight is an issue that can be changed.

I've lost a lot of weight and gained weight and lost a lot again over my life--right now, I'm nearing my thinnest after having been sick. Only now are my doctors taking my back and joint pain seriously as something other than an effect of my weight. That is awful, especially when I have family history, on both sides, of arthritis and yada yada. And don't get me started on my options in fashion when I was heavier--it was abhorrent. Why were the majority of my options to look like a 70s floral couch?
But when I lost a bunch of weight due to illness. . .those videos that appeared on my TikTok shamed me for losing that weight regardless of why I'd lost it. And when I'd try to bring up *any* point as to why someone would lose, or had to lose, weight--I was told to "check my privilege" or a whole host of other nasty things. I'm told I'm fatphobic because I don't condone fit at any size, knowing how terrible I feel at my heaviest. I'm told I'm privileged to lose weight. . .when I couldn't eat without throwing up for literal months. No one cares WHY you lost weight, they just care that you did and will vilify you for it.
THAT is why the fat acceptance movement, which bogarted the body positivity movement anyway, is so hated or looked down on. Not because fat people are hated for being fat. It's because their self esteem, or lack of it, leads them to be nasty and vile to EVERYBODY that is thin or thin-er than them.

When I was younger, I was in a "body positivity" group, but I left when I found out how toxic they are. If a woman too thin to their taste posted body positive pictures, they´d criticize her (most or a big portion). There was a video of Celeste Barber "imitating" a ballet dancer, and most of comments were so mean towards the dancer, one even talked about her (when I defended her) in terms of "that thing you call human" (the woman who made that comment was extremely obese). They´d keep telling wrong informations such as "Marilyn Monroe was a size 14" or that average French size is a size 12-14 when it´s actually size 8-10. And one fat activist who was in the media crying over fatphobia bullied me about my autism just because I corrected her false narrative (which was that average French size for women is a size 14). She said I was disgusting and just because I´m mentally ill, doesn´t mean she needs to agree with me. That´s my experience with body positivity and it was a pretty bad one. That and that fat admirer who made a miss plump online competition and made a "gallery of ugliness", showing pictures of thin women. Very toxic indeed. Plus the whole "if you don´t date plus size women you´re fatphobic, if you lose weight intentionally, you´re fatphobic" narratives...

Being obese is very bad for your health and, unfortunately, will often be an underlying factor in many illnesses and ailments. While i agree that doctors must investigate everyone's complaints fully and not assume it's weight-related, it so often is that it's a bit unreasonable to expect them not to suggest it.
It also goes the other way. I couldn't get diagnosed with gallstones for years because i was "too young and too slim" so they wouldn't give me the scans.

So we can't talk about our weight loss but they can talk about being fat 24/7. Okay got it. Anyways guys in an effort to make this lady is pissed off as possible I lost like 60 lbs this year. In January 2023 I was a size 22. I am currently a size 14. Mine was because I finally discovered why I've been having anaphylaxis my entire life. I'm allergic to Soy and after cutting out I have just been dropping weight left and right. And before some fat hippopotamus over here has some shit to say I'm going to trauma dump. I get to be happy about my weight loss because my mom knew I had a soy allergy in my entire life and watched me almost die dozens of times but never informed me of the allergy. She also denied allergy test when I was a child and I did not have the money as an adult to do it. But watching a home movie I discovered her betrayal and I am livid but I'm also finally not hyperventilating and dying and breaking out in rashes every day.

I'm most bothered by these people when they talk about fighting for equal treatment in medical care, because half the time they disregard health professionals as simply being fatphobic. You don't even value what providers are trying to do to keep you alive. I am fat and have been dealing with weight issues most of my life. I have never thought I was disgusting just because I'm fat. My husband is in the same boat. We both are tired of not being able to do certain things because of our weight. We're also trying to mitigate some health issues now that we're in our 30s. I've lost 20 pounds in the last six weeks and he's lost over 30. I'm not okay with other fat people making someone else's weight loss about them. I hate when anyone does that for any reason.

I feel like fat acceptance has just gone insane. Like, I’m all for what I believe it was originally supposed to be. Teaching that we all don’t have to be a size 2, and even if someone is a size 20 they shouldn’t be bullied, mocked or ridiculed.
And somehow it’s turned into let’s just lie to the world and pretend that obesity isn’t unhealthy.
I think people’s bodies shouldn’t be picked apart and yes that we need to show unphotoshopped bodies in magazines to keep beauty standards real. But what is this thing of pretending that not being able to breathe after walking 15 ft is somehow just as healthy as someone who can walk a mile before being winded at all.

And how hypocritical is it to call someone shameless because they want to lose weight when they call their group body positivity. If it was truly positive or neutrality they wouldn't get triggered because someone else decides to change their body or have different experiences in the movement that led them to leave the bopo ideology.
