Your work looks so easy but as a long time seamstress, I *know* you are exceptionally accurate and talented in your craft. Amazing work as always. *chef’s kiss*
I'm not a Seamstress, but I wish I paid more attention to when my Grandma used her machine... all I can do is hand stitch and I'm not the best. I still love watching your channel! and now that I'm getting married, I wish you were in NJ !
I worked for a woman as a private contractor for almost 2 years. She taught me more than I could ever have imagined about bridal alterations-I had absolutely no experience in that field of sewing. She was very good at her craft and a lot of her techniques are ones you use. Unfortunately, we were like oil and water...we just didn't mix. The pay was really low, and no benefits or taxes deducted. I will say I really learned a bunch and that can never be taken away. I don't do bridal alterations now, but had a MOB dress to do and felt confidence from my teachings. Btw, you have a very calm disposition about you. Lovely videos😚
Excellent techniques!! Love your videos. I’ve been sewing/ designing for 50+ yrs. Mostly self taught because when I started my Gram’s got me started, high school home economics & my mom working on my dance costumes. It was all basic sewing… I wanted to do things that were pretty & glamorous. Now you can google anything & so glad I got notification of your videos. Thank you!! Great job! I’ll be bk!!❤
Thank you I have been doing bridal alterations for over 30 years and every once in a while you show me a great tip that will make my job easier thank you so much.
Thanks for sharing your methods...and I like listening to your friendly voice! Especially good when I hit the ceiling with impatience when dealing with sewing issues !!!
You are an amazing teacher, you have a wonderful gift of explaining with words of what you are doing, if I would have that I could train people but I can’t put into words what I am thinking, envision and doing. I love your soft voice, is so calming 🥰💕
Thank you for sharing your technique! I've always removed more beads than necessary in order not to break needles, which meant repopulating a whole lot of beads!!! By pushing the remaining beads to the left and using a zipper foot when stitching, this alteration went so smoothly on the MOB gown......and.....I was left with fewer beads to replace!
Loving these videos. I have been sewing for years and I want to get into bridal wear. Since watching your videos I am very excited to start picking up the courage to see with lace and beading
Another great video! Yes breaking a few needles is part of the deal in my world. Have you ever done this one- out of curiosity- where you have to take in the sides and raise the waistline so you slide the back up so it meets the top edge on the front bodice and the waist edge is what is off- then you cut off the waist front as pinned and only do the back as much as takes it to match the front? I have found this fabulous especially on plain top edge gowns and ones that have very strong design lines around the top edge, and strapless bridesmaids too. A lot of the time you end up being able to just leave the back waist and only cut off the front which really saves a lot of work!
@@BridalSewing was thinking of it because I just did it to a strapless matte satin gown with a pleated on skirt and a beaded waistband and it turned out so great it was scary. Her mom cried.
Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom! I have been doing bridal for 8 years, but some of your techniques and the information you share I have not seen before. Questions regarding the size 18 needle. Do you only use this size when sewing over beading? Or do you use this size for the purpose of the thick layers of the shell? If so, do you have to switch to a smaller size when going through the lining layers? Thank you!
I just found your videos, and I've already learned a lot. Thank you!! Are you able to discuss prices for your alterations. I've altered prom dresses and bridesmaid dresses and I never know how much to charge
Good morning, is it possible to give me the info. Of where to get the free stitching foot for industrial Juki sewing machine for beaded dresses? Best , Emma
When you folded that dress and sewed the same together your top edge matched. If I fold my wedding dress at the same and take in an inch and a half it will not match at the top edge of the under arm. How do I fix that top seem to make it look good under the arm hole? The reason why it does not match is because the front of the dress is high and the back of the dress is low. Do I completely take out the top seam and fold it down inside to make it a smooth transition from front to back?
Love your videos. Would you mind sharing your pricing for bustling, hemming, and other alterations. I live in a small area and I don't advertise my sewing but word of mouth gets me into alterations on prom and wedding gowns on occasion. I just never know what to charge. Since I'am not in a business I charge as little as possible but then I have people tell me that my service is worth a lot more than I charge. I would appreciate any help you can offer.
No, I only press the outside. My iron is set to nylon temp always, so it won't harm the beads/gown. I just press & use the clapper for a flat finish. I know it seems like I leave out important steps, but I really try to narrow my videos to only what they are about. You know how bridal is so endless, it is hard to find a good stopping point, yet be comprehensive.
I do press from the inside. I press flat first to get rid of the old line and then open. I stuff the pressing ham up inside to help support where I'm working and not create new dents.
@@adriennegonzales2636 I should say, sometimes I find this absolutely necessary- especially for silks. But, if I'm doing a gown with this much structure and beading, I do not press several times- only the final time, but with a clapper. It works just as well for me on this type of gown.
You could use your phone to take several photos of the gown and bead pattern in the areas you are widening BEFORE you undo the beads, and then use the photos as a guide as to color and pattern AFTER widening to resew beads. 🍃🌾
You don't want it to look like its been widened or let out at all. It must look 100% original. Before the phone cameras i would have sketched the pattern and color of the beads by hand (in my notebook) in order to have a guide to follow. It must not show any signs of being widened at all but must look original. Thanks for letting me give u my 2 cents. 💕🐞
Hello, I have a bridal gown to do, it’s all beaded but it’s also got the fine mesh/net over the top, to take the seams in, I don’t know how to approach it. I know I will need to remove some beads but it’s also got lots of flower design stitched and embroidered on, I cannot take the dress in as the seams are underneath the lace. Please advise.

I love your channel. I’d like to ask you, Is it really necessary to buy an Overlocker ?
Not necessary. But it is definitely a time saver you will want some day.
I have question. I am afraid to do nipperi ng. Don’t rest of beads come out after nipper work? since it has attached one tread?
You have to touch the "root" of each thread with a tiny drop of clear hypo-cement. That stops the rest of the beads from coming off.
Is there anyway you could demonstrate how to properly pin a wedding gown during a bridal fitting 🤞🤞On a dress form of course..
Thanks,Mika
I really need to. I really hope to soon. I actually may use a model because it would be easier on human.

Hypo cement little clear dots of it all along each root of the threads. That'll stop it. After it dries, trim the loose threads.
