Dont need thoes..i have a Dolby stereo amp..😂😂😂❤from 1996🎉jvc
The playing was good, reminded me of what Marcus Miller might do but with some extra tapping. I think you should do something more ambitious a 15 minute medley of various MJ songs. But I think this stuff is getting to easy for you. Jazz improvisation is more out of your comfort zone (although I know you can play Donna Lee and Teen Town as well as anybody) but if you devote a half hour to improvising swing feel I think it would open up a big door for you in several months and expand your audience.
The exciting potential of that is to do a live video where you do some improvising and there is a risk of mistakes
People love to hear the humanity of making a mistake and then the ability to recover from it and keep playing.
Smooth salesman
Jajaja lo hace tan fácil que bakn versión
Dude, shilling raycon is low af.
He's a smooth Slap Animal
I think he is a Slap Criminal because it is against the law to slap that hard.
Wild wild thing
And Tap Animal 😊❤
Should’ve said he’s a Smooth Slapinimal 😅
Why doesn’t my bass do this?
Do what? Don't allow you to practice more ;) ?
You need a more expensive bass. I read that in an advertisement, so it must be true.
same reason why you don't get instant 6 pack abbs just like the underwear box shows
It must be defective! Lol
He plays great and gives a lot of inspiration.
Greetings Charles, I am a self-taught Argentine bassist, my name is Andrew. I love your videos and since I was 14 you were an inspiration to me. ¡Thank you for your amazing work!
Have fun and keep practising!!
Definitely Argentina must be one of the greatest countries in the world. Greetings from Argentina
@@CharlesBerthoud
What sort of practicing do you recommend? I've played for 15 years but I'm kinda mediocre. Everytime I sit down to "practice," I have no idea what I should actually do.
@@joshuadelaughter7968 Learn as many different songs as you can. Then you'll absorb other players' techniques and styles into your own and develop your ear to picking out common patterns and melody shapes.
@@joshuadelaughter7968you are practicing and he is practising.
I believe that if Michael were alive, and saw this, you'd be getting a phone call and you'd be playing bass on his next album.
True!
Agreed
He'd hire him just so they could play Speed Demon live.
Check out the Speed Demon bassline btw.
You re too much
Naw,
Michael would be begging to be on Charle's record!
LOL
I was always the musician in the family, but one day, my little brother came to me and showed me the iconic bass line. It's meant the world to me ever since 🖤 what a fuckin bop
Such a great bass line - the only way to improve it was to play it on a BASS 😎
M. Jackson : Moonwalker
Charles B. : Basswalker
Blade : Daywalker
Fun Fact: The Slap Bass that we hear in Smooth Criminal is actually played on a Synthesizer called: “Synclavier II” *Pronunciation Sin-Clav-ee-air* and the Patch Note is called: “Muted Piano” by Christopher Currell and another Bass Synth: “MiniMoog”. It would later be played on an actual Bass by Bassist: “Alex Al”.
don't forget, Ant Alien Antfarm bassist did the slap bass as well on their cover version of Smooth Criminal before playing the pick.
@@Rusli1659LPSoldier AAF rendition of Smooth Criminal is pretty nasty also
@@macho9556 yeah way heavier. Also Fun fact: Michael Jackson actually approved the cover and the music video as well. he changed his mind that he liked the kid dancing with the mask instead of without the mask.
@@Rusli1659LPSoldier the music video was such a brilliant pastiche of all things Michael Jackson. It was great stuff, also, I loved that rendition of Smooth Criminal.
@@DesertRainReads yeah, the music will always be a brilliant master piece except the creepy eyes at the end.
This was so smooth, it's criminal
❤
The Annie are you ok part is insanely good
A super smooth Bass criminal. You're not beating those "slap and tap" charges.
I thoroughly enjoy watching a master of his craft.
I love how you're looking super professional playing your instrument expertly like basically no one else in the world can while wearing your incredibly handsome shirt and the caption in the corner simply reads "slappidy slap" 😂
I could watch this all day
is insane how clean the sound is, with all that slapping and tapping and techiques you don't hear a single fret, I mean this is unveliable, Charles is from another planet!

Ah, so you're the one who they hired to record the music for the Moonwalker game on the Sega Megadrive!
That was an awesome game!
I don't think he is old enough
I played that Moonwalker game for HOURS in the Circus Circus arcade in Reno.
It sounds like that
Going to listed to the Sega soundtrack
This is the best - after your short I was hoping for a full length and you did not disappoint! Slaptastic genius!
everytime you cover a song it sounds fresh and new and Its always great to hear it again reimagined
I'm running a music club this summer for my school's summer school program. Kids will be learning ukulele, but I'm also throwing in some music history and bass appreciation .
I had already planned to show off a bass concerto movement on upright and You Can't Hold No Groove on bass guitar with a teacher that plays drums
I definitely want to toss in at least an excerpt of this!
Dude is otherworldly
I keep coming back to this...
I'm Gen X and grew up with this song on the radio.
I became a Metal Head but THIS!!!?
This literally draws tears it's so freaking amazing.
And I'm a 35 year long guitar player who believes Shawn Lane is the G.O.A.T.
But this....
I mean Charles has taken over as my favorite and (in my opinion) greatest instrumentalist of all time.
Absolutely love this cover! Amazing well done 🤩👏🏽
New Charles video? It's an immediate like👍
YES !!!
This deserves a billion views. I guess people simply don’t understand how much talent it takes to do something like this.
Why am I crying? This was ASTOUNDING! The soul doesn't lie...BRAVO!!
MIND BLOWN
So clean it sounds synthesized. Insane
Mods man Mods... Still gotta hit the notes tho
Charles really is the ACE of BASS!
a very underrated part of the original is the ACTUAL bassline, it's in the pocket, groovy, and smooth (pun intended?). Honestly when the song is remixed or covered it's often left out in favor of something more flashy and "fun to play". but it really is the backbone to the whole original.
I’ve never watched the likes go up so fast, and deservedly so!
Thank you for the full version.
MJ would have been proud! Would have loved to see you and him collab in his prime.
They’d have been BEYOND amazing together, wouldn’t they??
I have always enjoyed this song and the bass line.
wow the lighting is amazing
Slaptastic
Wow 🤩
This guy ain't human! Geez!
😮
🎸
Love the vintage Bassman amp.
If slapping is a crime, Mr Berthoud is THE Kingpin of bass.
The King of criminals
As always, you rocked! 😎👍🏻
Just awesome!!!
Very nice!
Это прекрасно!
Sooooo good! Love this!!!
So freaking good...
Nicely done as always you smooth criminal.
Sunday Monday Slappy Daysss
Absolutely Stunning!
this guy is so good that it both inspires me and makes me want to quit at the same time
Your technique is the real smooth criminal 🎸🤑👌
You’re possible the greatest base player that has ever lived. No exaggeration. You’re single handedly redefining what is possible on base. Incredible stuff mate and absolutely sick cover!
Wow. The playing is breathtaking.
What a mastery you have.
I'm convinced this man was dropped off by aliens to frustrate earth bound musicians .
🤣🤣🤣🤣
100%
There is no other explanation 😅
OUTRAGEOUS DUDE!!!! 🔥❤
It's criminal how smooth Charles is
Excelente! La mejor versión que escuché! Bravo
Charles isnt from this planet...Hes an advanced lifeform 😳
Perhaps he came from an alien ant farm
This is what they mean when they say make the most of life😂
Damn, smooth criminal is one of my favorite MJ songs. Love your take on it
Absolutely fantastic work. Big smile on my face listening to this cover.
That was amazing!
first
👏🏻🥇
@@CharlesBerthoud thanks, I love your videos and music :D
This is clearly AI generated as he appears to have at least 10 fingers on each hand
No no no, he was just created using dna from Steve Vai and carol kaye
😂😂
Truly Amazing x.
have both a 5 and a 6 schecter....
love these basses....
Brilliant as always! 👍
Thank you for not using a silly useless 5 string 🙏
Whoa.
Perfect
So smooth, so crisp.
amazing!
Good to see those open strings back in the mix
Loved it.
goosebumps!
Thank you for making me slap happy watching and hearing this. No doubt that Mike would have loved this as much as us fans do. And that breakdown at #5 with the taparoos - super smooth man. Slaps you very much.
Great!
This is more like smooth jazz for the modern world. Reminds me of my car and home audio 20-bit test CD's from the mid 1990's. I would of died to have this for some of the car audio installs we put in back then.
Right on! Sounded great!🤘
Love your work Charles keep going !
you are phenomenal
Dude...this guy is incredible.
You are amazing!
this is one of the best performances ive ever seen or heard in my life..
you keep on blowing my mind
Love it!
levels of slap appropriately named. love it
Awesome. 👏👏👏
Excellent!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Flawless performance, as usual.
Talent....
Crisp slap just sounds so otherworldly, no music is complete without the Bass!!! Flight me!
Clean work
awesome, really
Literally sounds like a perfect midi track in a good way
Insane!!!! Unbelievably amazing!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏👏
His improvisations are great❤❤
That's some smooth showin off right there.
One of my favorite Jackson Jams Nicely Done Sir. that was SLAPTACTULAR Loved it..I'm going to have to play it again .
Bass-tastic!
Great again 🎉
Excellent work. Reimagined an absolute classic in a brilliantly creative way. It sounded amazing. 😁👍🏾
