as a child it was tomb raider 3 that captured me. her house was fantastic and instead of solving ancient puzzles and picking up relics you got locked in prison and rode a quad lol. but legend blew me away. her home was beautiful.
The anniversary mansion is before the legend mansion because the crates in anniversary and the scaffolding is the construction of the legand one. Basically the anniversary mansion is in the middle of improvement and the legend mansion is the finished product
Tomb Raider 3 was incredible; the mansion had so many puzzles! I used to love locking the butler in the freezer! Those timed puzzle doors used to make me panic though; Winston would always get in the way!
I can't stop watching this!! xD. I just love Lara's Home! Still my favorite place in Tomb Raider. I always thought that the door next to Lara's room contained Winston's Room and the door on the opposite side of "Winston's Room" contained either a bathroom or an expansion to her library (I totally did not copy that from TRLE Games. :P.) I miss Croft Manor, I wish Square Enix would put one in Rise of the Tomb Raider, that would be really neat!!
I miss the original Croft Manor too and also always imagined that one of the locked upstairs doors was Winston's room. The later Manor just doesn't have the charm of the originals, but I think that about the later games overall as well.
your voice is just like butter! I recently got back into tomb raider about a year ago after giving 3 another chance and im hooked. your reviews have been one of the highlights, just totally fabulous. keep up the good work :)
I agree it was a surprise to have the TR legend mansion in anniversary. I liked it, but I also would have liked a remake of the original house like you.
I think the Tomb Raider/Tomb Raider 2/Tomb Raider 3 mansion is supposed to be the same mansion as the one in Legend/Anniversary, it's just that they've retconned the original mansion into the new mansion, due to technological advancements. When you think of it, both mansions have a very similar layout (large entrance hall, gym, swimming pool, bedroom, study...just missing the kitchen/dining and music rooms with a maze outside). The developers probably liked the movie Tomb Raider house, realised that the original mansion's rooms and layout were a bit too basic looking, now had the proper technology and decided to just redevelop the overall look and detail of the house.
Katie Fleming I've been well thanks Katie! I trust you're well too? Are you in the video game industry? What do you do with yourself these days? Keep on rocking dude! X
Doing just fine thanks! Yes, I'm actually just getting back into the industry finally. After a bunch of layoffs at the last studio its been hard getting back in. I try to fit in all my hobbies while making sure Jasper is getting enough birdie love haha :)
The third one was also my favourite. I didn't like the ones afterward. I quite enjoyed seeing the original home evolve over the first trilogy of games, only for it to be scrapped altogether.
Such a wonderful video and you did a marvelous job showing all of the mansions from each game. I personally think I liked the last one in the remake but each one had it's fun things to do.
Thanks for the Lara Croft mansion appreciation video. I was always impressed with her mansion, even way back when I played the first Tomb Raider on the PlayStation. I enjoyed just running all through the house and the gardens checking it all out. If I ever become a billionaire (I know, it won't happen), I'd love to have a mansion like this built for me.
Thank you for the awesome overlook of Lara's home throughout the whole TR time. It's always a pleasure to return to her cosy home and to enjoy locking Winston in the freezer :)
Nice presentation of the the mansion's themes and evolution. I was so happy to have the mansion back in legend and anniversary and it was amazing. It combined the aspects of the original games, the comics and the movies and was a challenge in itself to complete.
I never played the main games as a child I only ever played Lara's Home in the first three games (I only have the first three). Out of Lara's Home for TR1 (1996), TR2 (1997) and TR3 (1998) I think TR1 was my favorite because its the most classic and I love Lara's voice for it. In TR2 and TR3 her voice didn't seem as "happy" and "bubbly" somehow. Also her house didn't have the butler who still scares me and her house was light but in TR3 her house is very dark and creepy. TR1 was soothing.
Have you ever noticed that the gym in the Tomb Raider 3 mansion breaks the laws of physics? The gym intersects with the stairwell to the attic, and i think it also intersects with the library just a bit.
I've never played Tomb Raider 1 - 6 but I think 3 is my favorite. It's very cool and I like the quad bike part. I agree with you that if Anniversary is a remake of TR1, her mansion should be like the one in TR1. GREAT video. You've earned another subscriber.
Katie it's an amazing honor meet you and I have to thank you a lot for all your time in TR. I am agree with you, the best manor of Lara it is the one of TR 3. I miss the times of TR besides Core Design.
Man I played this game as a kid...I think it was the first one. If you go outside of the house there's a maze with a button in the middle. Push it, run back as fast as you can, and you can enter Lara's secret room full of artifacts. Also somewhere outside is a locked door which I never found out how to unlock. But then again, I was a 7-8 year old kid and couldn't speak English...
Also, In the Wii Version of Anniversary, You could get special artefacts called: Rubbing Rewards. These were stored in a Wii exclusive Basement which (If I read correctly) Is between the Living room and the Backyard.
Thank you so much katie, this is so amazing because i have an original raider's game ( the first) and have been wondering which game it was from! Thanks a bunch
I've only played the computer & PlayStation 1 versions of Tomb Raider 1, but from that, 2, & 3, my favorite is... either the mansion from 2, or the mansion from 3
Lara's mansion was intended to appear in Angel Of Darkness if you look online. I am curious how they would have been. I also agree with this. Its a shame they used a new mansion in L-A-U, but it was originally intended as a reboot (although later it was said to only be a partial reboot). Also, they used the Legend manor for Anniversary despite being a remake of TR1 because: 1. Anniversary was a remake of TR1 plot only, but featured new lara and her universe. 2. Fans who joined the series from Legend (or even Revelation) would be confused if her mansion was different. Also, the boxes are there and water off because lara was just moving in. Anniversary takes place roughly a few years before Legend. Basically, Lara just moved in and the anniversary events happen. Within a few years Zip is hired by lara and sets up office in the other part of her foyer. And, as you all know, a year or so after that, the mansion is destroyed by Amanda and the Lara clone. Anyways, I REAAAAAAALY hope that the next TR game shows the new Laras mansion, although it was rumored Lara lived in an apartment (Which would be a shame!)
@@KatieFleming I have noticed. It's ok! I have been keeping up with your channel. I even was on the polls with the video you made about what fans want. These videos are really amazing and really suprising how good they are despite being made years ago :)
This video made my day, thanks so much dear... Actually it's rare to find a female gamer lol, my gf always fights with me because I spend so much time playing video games. Tomb Raider is the best game of my life, I used to play when I was 7, it's nice to see this video and remember my days till Tomb Raider III. Nice review!!!
Did you guys knew you can shoot butler AKA Wintston in TR3? If you pick up the guns he will disappear and you won't be albe to find him, BUT, if you are patient and make him walk all the way up to the end of speed course, where the guns are (you have to keep him close all the way down there), you can actually pick up the guns and he won't disappear. I don't recall if you can shoot him from there, as last time I played this game was in early 2000s, but you can check it out. Also, you have great voice and real passion :).
@KatieFlemingTR I have a question about the TR 1 game on your upload. Which version is it PC/Console. If its on pc how did you get it to look so good given that the original pc version looked worse than ps1 version. I just bought it and just wish to know how to get it to look the way it does in your video and not horrible and blocky via DOSBOX. Thank you. :-)
one of the things I loved most about the TR2 mansion was that the final chapter had Bartoli's thugs invade the home seeking revenge and you had to defend it with a shotgun( extra points for being in a nighty) Kind of wish they could bring that back in future games, but with other weapons.
Great presentation, Katie. I love the mansions as well. My favorites are the early mansions with Winston. When my granddaughter was little, she thought Winston was 'scary' and creepy and she would be hysterical (in a fun way) until he was locked in the freezer.
I loved the T.R. series,I had them just for exploring her mansions sometimes,I wish they'd bring it back, instead of this now and arrow rubbish now,the tr.3 was.the best. I was so sad when they took.the mansion away :(
I miss those mansions. I rather practice there than get distracted by comments on how to use the controllers during gameplay. Oh and don't forget the anxiousness while being stalked by her butler.
You made a great review, you told all the details of these mansions I have to admit that i got a little bit surprised too when i saw lara's house for the first time on the remake😅😅😅
What are your thoughts on the new Tombraider? I am really looking forward to it, and also, I really liked TR2 best, but that is the only one I've played, so... guess thats why :)
Let's face it, everyone locked the butler in the fridge haha. This brings back memories.
Hahahahaha! So true ;), i used to run in and sprint back out and press the button so he couldn't follow me
that was pretty much the highlight of my game play xD
everyone does it
one time he got out when i did that O_O lol.....maybe it was a glitch
I used to lock him in the fridge too! It always creeped me out how he kept following me.
as a child it was tomb raider 3 that captured me. her house was fantastic and instead of solving ancient puzzles and picking up relics you got locked in prison and rode a quad lol. but legend blew me away. her home was beautiful.
The original mansions are the best. My favourite is the one from TRIII, love the quad track.
Mine is TR2, love the final level when her house gets burgled.
When i was little, Winston from TR 2 used to scare the shit out of me, so i never explored her house! XD
***** That's what the freezer is for!
LOL now I know! He can never torment me again!
I was the opposite... didn't mind Winston but was too scared to play the other levels because I kept getting eaten by tigers! Lol!
The anniversary mansion is before the legend mansion because the crates in anniversary and the scaffolding is the construction of the legand one. Basically the anniversary mansion is in the middle of improvement and the legend mansion is the finished product
Correct!
Tomb Raider 3 was incredible; the mansion had so many puzzles! I used to love locking the butler in the freezer! Those timed puzzle doors used to make me panic though; Winston would always get in the way!
The best part was when you went to the shooting range, and Winston had put his bulletproof armour on!
2:18 Used to always love locking Winston in the fridge!
i used to do that too, also if you jump over Winson couple of times he farts lol
I can't stop watching this!! xD. I just love Lara's Home! Still my favorite place in Tomb Raider. Tomb Raider 3- Mansion, was my favourite from them all.. Cos i loved the quad bike course track, and the gameplay was awesome in 3.
your voice is just like butter! I recently got back into tomb raider about a year ago after giving 3 another chance and im hooked. your reviews have been one of the highlights, just totally fabulous. keep up the good work :)
+Lance Lansdale Thank you so much! Raid on!
Tomb raider 3 mansion is my favourite and legend mansion is also my favourite.
I hope both mansions come back in future tomb raider games
Let's be honest, the fridge room is SPECIALLY MADE so you can lock the butler in :))))
You could lock him outside too, but where's the fun in that?
Belmont2500 Exactly !!
:D
+Ana-Maria Dumitru Haha, one of my favorite things to do on the game!
Pretty sure everbody did this back then.
I agree it was a surprise to have the TR legend mansion in anniversary. I liked it, but I also would have liked a remake of the original house like you.

All of them are great but Tomb Raider 3 is my favorite! It's the most fun to explore in my opinion.
TR3 Lara's Home is my favourite absolutely love the Quad Bike course
Personally, TR3's mansion is also my absolute favorite, followed my the TRA mansion
I loved the narration and the video! Killer job! You brought so many memories!
+Aaron Jones Thanks Aaron! Glad you liked it :)
Lol that's so crazy my sister and I used to always lock the butler in the freezer as well
Yeah, crazy...
Wow! You know a lot about the Tomb Raider series! :)
Awesome video! :D
Shooting the Butler in Tomb Raider 3 lol ^_^
This brought back good memories! Thanks for posting.
Laras home was one of my favorite part of the games I hope they add it in upcoming games
Wow, this takes me back!! Must've been about 12+ years since I played the first 2!! Cute vid x
This was a really great video. Thanks! Really made me reminisce about Tomb Raider one and two.
These TR videos are some of the cutest things I've ever seen. Miss you Katie x
You are so sweet! How the heck have you been?!

Cannot believe this video is a decade old!
Still a fantastic video.
Isn't it wild?! It's also my most watched video on my channel!
@@KatieFleming Watching this has actually made me realise it has been far too long since I did a playthrough! I must remedy that.
Just imagine having Croft manor as your own home
I was disappointed when I played TR4 the first time because it didn't had the Croft Manor :/
And even so it is the best TR game
yeah but therefor it has 2 awesome tutorial Levels with Teenage Lara
Nothing love more than fans takes on the series. I was and still am so addicted to this series.
The third one was also my favourite. I didn't like the ones afterward. I quite enjoyed seeing the original home evolve over the first trilogy of games, only for it to be scrapped altogether.

When you locked the butler in the freezer lol... I thought i was the only one that did that.
Thank you for this. I love the older Tomb Raider games. :)
I liked the Legend manor best but out of the classic Tomb Raiders, TR3 has the coolest manor.
One time we (my brother & I) tried to kill Winston without his protection gear while he was locked in the storage I think it was
The maze in TR2 will always be remembered to a wide range of gamers and I loved it! Big up the old school games of yesteryear =D
my favorite one was tomb raider 2! classic :)
Love that the algorithm pushed this 10 years later
*Hears the sound of Lara finding a secret* 😆
Wow,Katie you really did a lot of works.Reeeally enjoy watching your reviews!
TR1, 2, 3, 7 (Legend), and Anniversary

The boxes in Lara's living room in Anniversary are also a nod to the boxes found in the original game.
this is a great anaylist of the tomb raider mansions, thanks for this cool video !
I LOVE exploring Lara's mansion. My most favorite was the one in Anniversary. There was more exploration and puzzles.
2:26 YES, Everyone did that back in the day.
I remember playing TR1 mansion, that was an awesome game... i loved locking the buttler in the fridge too! this brings back good memories...
I like the Tomb Raider 3 Mension beacouse of her practicing field, and her basement. And i like how she has timed climbing in front of her Mansion
Thank you for the awesome overlook of Lara's home throughout the whole TR time. It's always a pleasure to return to her cosy home and to enjoy locking Winston in the freezer :)
Really good review. Found myself agreeing with everything you had said. Thank you.
Glad you like them, thanks for watching!

Tomb raider III was my favorite. It was the first video game I ever played at the age of 4.

I haven't done them yet :) Next review will be TR3 Gold, but they take quite a long time to make so please bear with me!

The house in tr1 also had the arc of the covenant.

I only reviewed the official mansions but there are a lot of excellent fan versions! :)
I just dont have same feeling with Legend's Croft Major like with TR I - III.

They obviously didn't use the classics' house for Anniversary since it was placed in their (Crystal Dynamics') own continuity, which fits with Legend.

Your eyes looks like Blue Diamonds
So true. It'd be nice to have the mansion in the new game, with the graphic's and all.
your views Katie Fleming are great.

I say lara! I get mad when my friends pronounce it like "Laira". It really gets on my nerves!
