The Who are a one of the great British rock bands from the 60's-70's. They are considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century & have sold over 100 million records worldwide. They have so many great songs such as "I Can't Explain", "The Kids Are Alright", "My Generation", "Substitute", "Happy Jack", "I Can See For Miles", "Won't Get Fooled Again", "Baba O'Riley", "Behind Blue Eyes", "Boris The Spider", "Pictures Of Lily", "Magic Bus", "Who Are You" etc. The group's 1969 concept album "Tommy" included the single "Pinball Wizard".

The great underrated Pete Townsend! John Entwistle, RogerDaltrey and ya gotta do some live stuff with Keith Moon on drums! The Who were so awesome, don’t even know where to start when it comes to how great and unique their music was! Both your reactions are a pleasure to watch! It’s like you both were there in the 60’s and 70’s and beyond enjoying the music with us! Love your reactions! And you both know great music when you hear it! Wish you could have been at the concerts with us all!

Roger Daltry is the front man and lead vocalist (and one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time). He led the band in the early times but, eventually, it became clear that Pete Towsend, the lead guitarist on stage, was the one who had the drive, the talent, the writing and producing skills and he became the leader. Truly one of the most prolific and successful bands of the era and, really, in rock history. Love your reaction.

I almost forgot I saw them at the Los Angeles Memorial Stadium also and The Clash opened for them...

Roger Daltrey on lead vocals, Pete Townsend on lead guitar, John Entwistle in on bass and their original drummer, Keith Moon, had already passed away and some of their earlier live recording showed him on drums and they are definitely worth exploring. Great band! One of my all-time favorite bands!

Back when this first came out, it was one if not the very first songs that dropped an F-Bomb. We all looked at each other with astonishment that they actually left that word on the radio. Most of the top 40 stations of the time cut it out but the more fun edgy FM stations let it ride. I remember seeing them in one of their many Fairwell tours, Roger Daltry jogged almost the entire show... I guess that's what coke with do for you. It was nice to see Peter Townsen with his patented windmill power chords... always a good show. An amusing story... one of the concerts I saw them at was at the ASU activity Center in Phoenix, there was a power outage for almost 45 minutes and much to the crowd's delight, Peter came out and started sweeping the stage, they eventually came back to finish the show.

    • @TroyBoyleAtheistAdvocate
      @TroyBoyleAtheistAdvocate Год назад

Roger Daltrey is the only member of the band that DIDN'T do hard drugs. He has famously said he's never done a single line of coke. It's just not his thing. He sparingly used sleeping pills after shows because he couldn't fall asleep. Was never a big drinker. And has been married to the same woman for over 50 years. Pete was the musical genius, but Roger is the stability and "Daddy" of the band.

It's funny....this song played for 35 or so years on the radio with the F-bombs intact (yes, the "foul language" is on the studio cut).
It was only within the last 10 years or so that the Morality Police noticed them and had them changed to "Hell". Sad, really.
We were less uptight in the 70's.... until Al and Tipper Gore went after Twisted Sister in the late 80's.

I saw the British leg of this tour - The Who ‘big band’. Judging by Pete’s bandaged hand, I wonder if this is the tour where one of Pete’s famous windmills drove the tremolo arm on his guitar right through his hand. Fortunately it missed all the important bits and did no lasting damage (one hopes). Pete was concerned about his hearing on this tour (he had been for some time) and I was worried as we were sat way at the back of the National Exhibition Centre that they might come over too quietly. Needn’t have worried - the opening chords of ‘Can’t Explain’ plastered me into my seat! To see other great clips watch them rampage through Mose Allison's ‘Young Man Blues live at the Isle of Wight Festival (a comparison with Allison’s original illustrates just how hard and manic The Who’s retread is). Also their short set at the New York Concert For 9/11 is blistering - as Queen were to Live Aid, here The Who completely steal the show. God help whoever had to follow them!

Great composition. This song is super intricate with all the instruments making it work so phenomenally. The talent is incredible really, when listening to all the different parts. Cheers

Two notable things about this video are: 1. Simon Phillips on drums at the height of his powers. Phenomenal. 2. The reason Pete Townsend is wearing a sleeve on his hand is because only a few nights earlier he impaled the webbing between his fingers with the whammy bar while he was doing windmills on the guitar. Crazy.

Hi ya, Asia & BJ!! The lead singer, Roger Daultry is a "Top shelf" type rock vocalist, from the late 70's. Yup, they been around for a long time! I recommend "Baba O' Reily" and "You better, you bet"!! Keep them coming!! 👍😎👍

Saw this show at Giants Stadium. Nothing like 70,000 people singing "Who the f**k are you".

In this song, he is in a drunken stooper and unable to see correctly (blind drunk). The Who is an awesome band, as a matter of fact they were the first concert I had saw back in 1980 (Blackfoot was the opening act).

The radio stations omitted the verse "Well,Who the Fuck Are You?" They erased the verse for Radio!

They always beeped it out on the radio. Like we hadn't already heard the album. Check out 'Love Reign O'er Me', and 'Behind Blue Eyes'.

I saw them a few days before this show... at the Tacoma Dome south of Seattle in Tacoma... It was the same show... almost.. because at the end of our show, the guitarist Pete Townsend cut his hand really bad on his whammy bar when he was swinging his hand around. Its why he has a bandage on his hand here.

I think the horns take some of the edge away. The Eagles did that too about the same time. Wish they highlighted more on the bass, Entwistle was amazing.
