I just kind of re-discovered Buddy Holly and I absolutely agree with you. Actually I think if Buddy Holly had lived the Beatles success may have been delayed a few years. It would've been Buddy dominating the early 60's touring, making more hits, etc. Buddy's absence allowed groups like the Beatles to thrive filling the void. Just my theory anyway.
@@luvpants2012 I really agree with you. I'm not even 40 years old and I listen to his music all the time. What a musical genius👌🏼 His songs were simple and incredible👍🏼 I wish he was still alive today.😢
@@mando8222 he was a true musical prodigy in my opinion. Some of his songwriting and arrangements were very sophisticated like True Love Ways. His guitar playing was sublime, his singing was sublime. And all before the age of 22. Absolutely nuts.
He release an entire Buddy Holly tribute album back in the 70's.It became a deleted album ( remember those ).As far as I know it never got re-released. A friend snagged a copy from the delete bin.Not sure he still has it but it must worth something now.
this is light years ahead of music this is like grunge music but its better if they only took notes the grunge kids wholdent have it tured to emo...i am an old rocker love buddy and the beatles i even love yoko she brought something out of lennon that is so magical he was bigger than the beatles for some reason
Fuck yeah. John Lennon and a distorted guitar is all you need. Buddy Holly would have been proud of both John and Yoko here. Sometimes I wonder if we live in Buddy Hollys world and yet only a few people know it.
You think she sounds bad... Watch and listen to a duet done by John Lennon and Chuck Berry...She makes jungle sounds during the song...I believe it was either them singing Memphis or Johnny B Goode...

It's his Gibson Les Paul Jnr modified with a Charlie Christian pickup in the neck position. He played this guitar at the Madison Square Garden concerts in 1972.
So cool watching John get lost in the past when you look at his eyes. Playing his idol taking him back to his youth
Without Buddy Holly there would be no Beatles. I think he was the biggest influence on them compared to any other artist

There are so many great things to talk about Buddy Holly. We may never see anything like him again!!
@@mando8222 he was one of a kind but other insanely talented people have come along thankfully.
Wow, I love this rocking version he's doing here. Wish he officially recorded this
So grungy, so badass. I even love the Yoko Ono bits, it adds to how unique it is. It can only be authentic solo Lennon WITH Yoko.
You must be on drugs mate! Her big trap! Spoilt it completely!!!
Yoko rocks!
How did he ever get her to not go into her screeching catterwailing act?
Buddy would be proud.
That voice and guitar.
Buddy would cringe. This stinks!

It’s funny how John said he was a subpar guitar player like what!
Fuck yeah. John Lennon and a distorted guitar is all you need. Buddy Holly would have been proud of both John and Yoko here. Sometimes I wonder if we live in Buddy Hollys world and yet only a few people know it.
Yoko really loved to destroy good sessions.
She sounds like a banshee!!!
that was her talent
Yoko sounds like ET tho
LMAO
That’s like exactly the point, yoko wasn’t trying to sound like a pop star, you fool
John sounds like Kermit get over it
I like how this video was posted on John’s birthday.
R.I.P Buddy.
Uma lenda influenciando outra lenda ❤️ETERNOS❤️
Really funcking good guitar playing
John's voice is very rock n roll too, undeniable
You mean shit guitar playing! Only one Buddy Holly! These two druggies kill the song!!
Perfektní John ❤️👏🎸
LOL. First time I watched this I was thinking the same thing. It's the Mike Douglas show all over again.
Yoko seriously sounds horrible.
That’s the fucking point, she’s not trying to sing in the traditional sense.
She is awful.
John wasnt exactly performing at la scala either. Beatles were pop hype. You just didnt know you fell for it like a 12 year old girl.
You think she sounds bad...
Watch and listen to a duet done by John Lennon and Chuck Berry...She makes jungle sounds during the song...I believe it was either them singing Memphis or Johnny B Goode...
she's an unfortunate person all round
John lennon was a good guitar player, great feel and rhythm. Better than eric clapton because unlike clapton he composed many timeless riffs.
Nice guitar tone john❤
i never knew this existed, thanks for posting
Absolutely
Love it! Imagine having your own
private Beatle …❤🥰
hello t o you all from Hollywood Joe
He’s waiting for the drugs to kick in lol
where did they find this footage??
👍👍👍
I would have always liked this a hell of a lot more if Yoko would have just shut up and let him sing without interfering.
Omg this is perfect
I wonder if he ever could even make it to the loo just once without YOKO!
I've heard blinded by love, but deafened?
thx !!
What year???
1972
John Lennon and Yoko Ono
Only Buddy Holly could do this song!!!!
nah that guitar was badass
Where’d the full video go?
@Martin Luther Peggy sue and rock island line
@Martin Luther one of my favorite videos ever.
A Yoko nao dá...
I love Yokos background vocals.... NOT!
man yoko is really like a bad smell
How to get maximum impact with only a few basic chords

What guitar is that?
DankLizard56 I believe that’s his Epiphone Les Paul
It looks like an old melody maker
It's his Gibson Les Paul Jnr modified with a Charlie Christian pickup in the neck position. He played this guitar at the Madison Square Garden concerts in 1972.
@@plasticmac1439 this guy is exactly right
This would sound so much better without the whining cat sitting next to him. Oh dear!
Yoko was a joke. She was not talented. Glommed on and absolutely ruined anything she was allowed to participate in.
John never had it like Buddy did
Umm, not so sure about that.
Buddy solo career is more impressive than lennons by far
@@boombapdoom493 I think with being the “first” to do things yes. On any other note absolutely not. (I’m a massive fan of both)
Pretty bad!!!
