Wanted to say a huge thank you and appreciation for the knowledge you share Sorin. Was able to fix today a severely liquid damage HP elitebook that HP deemed as unrepairable after watching maybe hundreds of your videos. Did not have a clue in the beginning. Thank you Sorin
I got this exact job today! Every track broken! I thout about doing like you, but i actually remove the port and redid all the tracks and put a new port. Its king of a nice job to do. Nice tip about triger the charging, i shoud have watch this video before. ;)
The plastic center of the port is still broken and not secured though? Surely should have replaced the port, that's just going to break the traces again.
9:46 - Solid, hmmmm. I would have glued the center piece of that connector to the metal frame. As at 1:51 the entire center piece is loose, it is only going to happen again.
Hi Sorin, good job as alway... thanks for the suggestion about 190° solder wire.. i appreciate a lot how you share with so mauch details that is the important things... bye Francesco Timpano from Florence Italy
It's not going to last for long because inner part of connector is loose. Solder and tracks will crack again after repeated plugging and unplugging of charger.
@@orange11squares its not a poor design. its default type-c connector which was destroyed by user. The problem is it was destroyed and meant to be replaced by new one. As you can see on video the plastic part is moving above pins while metal case that has to hold everything together is stable. The right way was to bend metal casing so that it will hold everything together or change the port. That was a lesson of bad repair.
Yes! He should have tightened the case clips and also added something in between the case and core... Like UV gel or hot glue... But I was also thinking there are 2 rows of pins on that connector... And he soldered only 1 row... Or I might mistaking?
Sorin the solder you use is Mechanic SX-862 double rosin core which is 183°C, it's not a high melting point solder. The high melt Mechanic is lead free HBD-366 with 200°C. I can be wrong of course, guys any thoughts?
Hello, I don't find any usb charging connector socket for honor magicbook 14 in India, I only found samsung 18 pin charging connector for mobile.. Will it fit for replacement?
Watching on my personal Huawei D14 Ryzen 5 3500 running Pop!OS, reminded not to jiggle the USB C charging port too often. Might be a good idea for manufacturers to offer a recessed USB C port, so that USB plug fits more snuggly.
Great work as always. I have a question, does the green mask protect the pins (from shorting)? or does it really have any strength to hold the port in place (like glue) ?
The green Solder Mask is mainly used to prevent rusting (oxidisation) but can offer some protection from other things coming in to contact with the wires that Sorin soldered in place and shorting them out.
It looks like huawei is not using a good quality board for this to become a common fault on their laptop. I understand that this can happen to any device with USB C port but it is kinda unusual to see the exact failure point on multiple laptop from a single manufacturer.

Sorin hasn;t posted for 3 days, unusual. I hope he is having a well deserved vacation.

i thought is was an april fool's day but its not. port was broken and had to be replaced. he just solder pins to traces.
Hi Sorin why do not use hotair same with uv light then it cured fast. You do not have to wait 10min then.
What no hot glue to strengthen the plastic centre 🤦♂️🤣👍 after you fixed it

You should get the 3s quick dry uv mask
sorin . use hot air over uv gel. it drys so quick.

made by huawei, such a poor design...as many others do.

Sorin perfect as always. So pity that you are so far from me!!😢
Hi, do you also carry out revisions or repairs of motherboards on commission?
Nice repair as always👏🏻
UV mask lifehack - shine UV light for a minute max, remove it and then put hot air on top. The mask will harden almost instantly! :)
we always learn something from you
perfect as always

if it fit youmust acquit
Brilliant thanks Sorin 😊
No no, he did not used hot glue 😢

port is broken, this plastic inside is moved back... its pushed back, that y pins r broken
Great work as always.
I have a question, does the green mask protect the pins (from shorting)? or does it really have any strength to hold the port in place (like glue) ?
green mask is not strong. use other strong glue.
green mask only looks professional.
Prevent oxidation of the bare tracks, and prevent movement to degree.
its not super strong but it does the job, you can cover it further with some glue like b7000 for more safety if you like
The green Solder Mask is mainly used to prevent rusting (oxidisation) but can offer some protection from other things coming in to contact with the wires that Sorin soldered in place and shorting them out.
after repair i put glue to make plastic stronger
I understand the low budgets repairs. But what is the price of new type-c connector ? 10 cents ?
Hello🤝good job 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👋👋👋👋👋
Some 1 tried to force the charger in the wrong way round, that's why charge port broken off mother board.
Couldn’t tricking the EC chip damage the battery. I assumed there would be a reason to start slow.
its very common. i have done 2 laptops. in 2 weeks. same issue.
I just noticed the USB power display flips like a phone when you tilt it up - lol -.

sorin sorin sorin....
You forgot to add the outro
overly hot laptop as well.
hmm, no hot glue
huawei should be sued for this cheap port this is 2024 and this should not be happen my huawei phone from 2017 still charge fine
waitt,, its nokia theree
Nice job , bad design
Who buys Huawei???
If you use heat with the UV it will cure a lot faster.
