That is a proper calibrated fault and a proper classic solution is a proper calibrated wire😅. Thank you
You know... Sometimes when a repair is ongoing... I brought into a scene which sounds like this 😂😁...my words sometimes:
Everything is ok...but is not running 😂🤔
Bless the proper calibrated wire!
Without this...no electronics can be done!
Cheers Sorin! A pleasure to watch your repairs.💪
Nice one. Other repair shops would probably just replace the power jack, and laptop would work for a while coming back with same issue.
it is better to remove resistor on divider, 19v to 5 v, but it is easyer like this, stay well Sorin
Yeah! I recentlly came across that exact problem and I just said to myself "This is a deliberate design to make the device fail".
Funny thing about the charging port detection with 5V, back a few years ago Acer didn't have any charging port detection and there was a case of someones laptop (and house) catching on fire from a very badly mangled charging port shorting. They started doing this which fixed nothing because we still get burned charging connectors, but also ones that are slightly too loose on the detection pin like this one. Usually we just remove a resistor in a voltage divider meant to turn 19V into 5V for the detection pin (next to PQB23 on this one), shorting it to ground is also a good option if you don't know where it is.
Sorin’s skills are proper nice. Love your videos! 😊
Brilliantly fixed thanks sorin 😊
Thanks Enos, such a wonderful job u are doing, Kudos
Excellent, thanks to showing us commun fault like this. 👌
Great catch.
Good job mate 👏
Present, Maestro Sorin
Have same laptop, thanks Sorin 😊
Every video is helpful :)
Some online tricks exist, that works. The tricks vary by the brands of the laptop. I removed the battery, started an Asus, and the charging started while I inserted the battery. The charging problems are mainly caused by the weakness of the charger, that can also be a nee one. I used a 12 v battery screwdriver to fix the charger’s 19 v output, while the charger is AC offline. The generator also fixes locked, blacklisted chargers, and universal chargers. Generating the current may take up to 10 minutes, until the charger has a resistance against the generator.
Great teacher
I just bought a Msi 1771 laptop thats coming on and a dead battery that might need replacing that`s not charging and i hope its the same issue with a easy fix but cant be sure till i check it over, great help in finding the faults as ever! :)
I'm using same laptop. It also charges by type-c port. And customer enabled 80% charging limit.
Love bro, top ❤
Gy
very nice trick
NOTE: Acer geniuses placing on some boards a little switch(open case) and battery will not charge until you return bottom case back or just short it
Hi Sorin Those laptops have a bios option that if the battery is over 80% they don’t charge just need to disable it
look at 2:38 for PQB1 transistor+resistor pair. Someting is doggy there... (cold solder joints IMHO)
Please sorin can you do a video about varistors and how to choose it 🙏 you're the best
Nice! 😎
I have one of these I'm waiting for the charger for. Odd thing is it calls for a 45w charger, but I could get the 65w one cheaper. Replaced the cmos and thermal paste. Was told its supposed to work but I'll know once I get the charger. Then its up on marketplace since I don't need one.
My acer laptop has the similar charging port so now I have got to know what fault it is now I can repair my one any time thanks
Long time not seeing the proper calibrated wire 😁😁
Short id pin to ground is consume battery all the time because its normally pull up
Everyday the new innovations on laptops are destroying all the friendly use of a device. I think the factories aren’t doing the proper quality test. Terrible design.
Thumps up for the great video. 👍🏻
Awesome. I got the charger for mine today. The 8th gen intel i5 variant. The charging light keeps cutting off... Regardless of the position the charger. I guess I'll have to do the same thing.
💯💯💯💯
One can only imagine a poor technician trying to figure out this fault, clueless about this charging pin until they find this video and finally see the light at the end of the tunnel lol
This is bad design on purpose !
👍👍👌👌
what type of power supply for charging is he using?
Hi how can I insert a ram in a laptop where there is no ram slots
what happened to Acer? am seeing them here a lot!
Actually i need some help from here. I installed windows 10 on a chromebook 11 but the touchpad and audio are not working, anyone with the correct drivers please my head is burning. I thank you
Hello, how do I fix my dell latitude 5400 not going to sleep when lid is closed. When my power option in windows "Choose what closing the lid will do" is set to sleep please... Please help
Proper calibrated wire 😂
2 fans, 2 heatpipe without a dGPU? That's a nice design or Ryzen is just hot?
Soon, you will be repairing E V cars. Charging port solution, right?
I dont expect EV charging port to become faulty, remember its not minartured
The tiny barrel connectors are horrible and they break all the time.
I really miss the old square adapters that laptops had. They had 3 or 4 pins and they were really rugged
@@ocsrc What about USB-C? Do you like that connector for charging because it is square?
@@mart43 yes, USB-C is nice. But the laptops all use the barrel style connectors. They should use an actual square that is 3/4 or 1 inch square with 3 prongs, like the old laptops used.
They never broke. These barrels, they are not secured in the machine.
The boards inside are too easy to break the connector from the board.
It needs to be a solid connector that is metal and part of the case, so if you bang it the PCB board doesn't break
it will not happen, if everyone had EV cars, they would consume more electricity to charge the batteries, so power plants would have to expand and spend more on electricity production, and therefore there will be more pollution of the atmosphere
Don't you think it's about time manufacturers standardised on usb c charging sockets, as per cell phones, or is this not possible?
the laptop also has usb-c charging, as someone said above.
@@orange11squares Thank you for your reply. I did read that, but that wasn't my question.
...and Sorin is gone!
A laptop with dual m.2 slot , dual ram slot and dual fans for just a cpu. With such shitty dc jack . Like what!!!!, they realised at end that they designed future proof laptop so they needed to add this fault .
proper dodgy design
Never buy an Acer they are sh*t as is customer services.
