Interesting, when they will notice missing melody sounds? I remember they toured in 2009 for a quite long time with some sounds missing in The Man-Machine
The answer is - few dates later. They performed The Robots live on stage one day (I suppose because of some restrictions of certain stage setup - it was outdoors, or it's just was robot's day off). After that show the sweet old melodies comes back :)

I think the missing melody notes is deliberate. It gives the whole thing a darker, more minimal feel.
