    Toda raba for your cheerful video! It's so clear & helpful. When I watched other Hebrew videos, I get turned off when a whole set of pronouns & variations are thrown at us & I can't remember a single thing. For me, the lesson is memorable when there are at most 3 variations in one video, eg past, present & future tense for one verb for one pronoun. Or 3 pronouns (eg I, you, he) for one verb for one tense. Or 3 verb stems for one pronoun. Hope you can do a video, eg on "I want to, I wanted to, I'll want to". Then show us the 3 variations side by side so we see how the conjugations vary. I may be wrong, but I think the average mind can only absorb that much info in one video. And if the students can remember & apply that little bit, it'll motivate them to keep learning & coming back to you.

      Thanks a lot for you nice feedback. I am happy you enjoyed the video. Regarding your interest: the verb to use is "לרצות", root: רצה in paal. I cannot tell you when exactly I will find the time to make a video on that since I am currently recording my online course on Hebrew verbs. That has been on my list for sooo long, I need to get it out NOW ;-) - but that root will be part of the course examples. Maybe with this information I can catch your interest for the online course :-)) . Thank you for the video. Maybe I am missing something. When I want to say: 'I have the dog.' the equivalent would be 'The dog is to me.' So far so good. In English that makes 'The dog' the subject and 'to me' the indirect object. However, in Hebrew, would I have to say 'יש לי את הכלב' ? ... turning 'the dog' into a direct object rather than the subject. Thus, two objects (direct/indirect); no subject. ... or may I skip the 'את' making 'הכלב' the subject? Thx.

    • @HebrewVerbs
      @HebrewVerbs  Год назад

      Great question! In Hebrew it is not a direct object. The literal translation is "there is a dog a aivailable to me", so no את

    • @VShoshanim
      @VShoshanim 11 месяцев назад

      @@HebrewVerbs I could be wrong but I believe you misread the person's question. "I have a dog" is "יש לי כלב", but I believe "I have *the* dog" is indeed "יש לי את הכלב". Is that correct?

    What about feminine singular: I will have a tomato?

    • @HebrewVerbs
      @HebrewVerbs  3 года назад

      for "me" there is no distinction between male and female, that starts with the second person singular, the first person always uses "li".

      Hello Michel, my approach is to get people away from nikud, no adult in Israel uses them, also no newspaper does. if you keep wondering about the type of nikud you are making it very hard for yourself. These differntiations you are asking about might be important for Biblical Hebrew, but for Modern Hebrew, in order to really proceed you must forget about nikud on the long run. I am putting the correct nikud to the beest of my knowledge but only as a mere help for pronunciation and easyness to follow. Listening is the best. For this reason I founded sabreTV to get people into the living language.

    thanks you made it pretty clear but actually i'm confusing about using (ל+pronouns) as an object for example

    they owe me money
    can you say
    הם חייבים אותי כסף

    • @HebrewVerbs
      @HebrewVerbs  2 года назад +1

      In Hebrew there is only one way to say it:
      הם חייבים לי כסף
      It is "owing money TO SOMEBODY, and this translates in Hebrew with
      למישהו
      Sometimes you fill find that foreign languages use the object differntly than your mother tongue. These little nuts and bolts you will learn over time. Languages have their own logic.
