This is the exact reason I flipped my table during my playthrough. I went in blind, didn't watch any tips and guides, want to experience the game raw. Then invested heavily on Linzi, turned on only active members get exp. Linzi dies and bench characters are weak af, low levels and no gears. Gave up on the game :D.

Lol yeah it's not a very pleasant experience I will agree. The way to work around that is go outside and hire a mercenary which will join at your level, but it's still annoying to have to level up a new character all the way to 17, 18 or 19 and then gear him up etc. Not to mention you may not have the gold to recruit a high level mercenary. Kind of an unfortunate decision in my opinion to do things this way

If I remember correctly, in the early versions of the game, the troll that is in Ekundayo's room could have been permanently killed only with negative energy... if you didn't have a source of it for some reason, well...

Interesting, not sure I would agree with that as it is kind of specific though if channel negative energy hits it's not a big deal as long as you have a cleric. Still happy it is no longer the case.
As a side note though, just know that if an enemy has some kind of regen that you need to remove for them to die, like the classic acid for trolls, and you don't have access to it for whatever reason, you can still kill them by using "Coup de grace" on the enemy when they are uncounscious which all characters have available as a default action. They need to fail their save, but eventually they will roll a 1 and die

Glad there are other people in the comments saying they didn't finish the game after what happens to Linzi. I am in the same boat. Linzi was far and away my favorite character and her ending just feels so undeserved and a slap in the face to the player. I thought about just pulling up a guide to finish the end of the game but every time I loaded up the save I just got angry again. Uninstalled it as a result and will likely never finish PF:KM.
Working on WotR now, though. I've gotten to Act 4 for the second time, but like the first time I am starting to lose interest in Act 4. Something about the Abyss and just turns me off for whatever reason. Probably cause I still want to be doing the little army battling mini game and now I can't.

You are definitely not alone friend. It is a bit of a shame what they did with Linzi, no doubt. Not only is it very sad story wise for the people who like her, but also because you may have been relying on her as a bard for your party the entire game and then all of a sudden, you're one companion short forever :/ It's actually one of the main reasons why I don't take Linzi with me in the party, because I know I'll eventually need to replace her.
Act 4 does that to people. The city is very dark and purple, which at least to me is a bit of an eye sore. It's confusing, the overall "moving city" mechanic is imo awful and serves no purpose other than to appear fancy but in practice just annoy the player. The game is still very much worth continuing, and it is a great game, but it really is a shame some of these weird decisions they made that just detract from the overall experience.

Too bad about Linzi. The game makes it seem as if an existence as a sentient book isn't too bad, but just imagine being picked up by a real asshole, or by nobody at all.

I guess the idea here is not think too much on this. We just assume that the party keeps her and then she goes into the nice cozy library where only decent people go to read :D
