    This video is showing as 5-years-old, but I am enjoying watching it. I subscribed to you in 2022 and visit when time and health permit. This video is just as valuable and relaxing "today" as when it was first posted. Watching it is providing me a moment of flashback to all the problems this brand has been exhibiting since its acquisition by Rubbermaid, which was a shock to a good many of us. Still problems, but at least my set last year didn't come with barrels cracked from top to bottom! Still enjoying your videos in September, 2023.

    I’m enjoying your videos. I have been a card maker for several years and have done a little coloring with pencils and copic markers but never learned enough. I ordered the Secret Garden from Amazon and can’t wait to color along❤️Thanks for sharing your knowledge to help others learn to color and create something beautiful ❤️❤️❤️

    I watch more coloring and tutorial videos on my 50” TV than regular TV programs and have watched TONS of tutorials. This is the first time I’ve seen this topic presented this way. I really like your approach in explaining and demonstrating. Excellent tutorial!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

    My story is similar. I found your link on Ann’s channel. (A Colorful Life) and immediately have subscribed and become a huge fan of your logic and teaching. I’ve binge-watched you this weekend and today I found this wonderful tutorial. I’m so happy for You Tube and the people who use it to help others. I didn’t miss a thing and I can follow along at my own coloring speed. I am chronically ill and I still work as a pet sitter, but that gives me many hours alone with pets in someone’s home. This is how I started coloring. Prismacolors and a coloring book take up only a small space in a suitcase. I did Tole and Decorative Painting “back in the day” and even taught in my home for about four years. Then my art went on haitus from 2007 until 2014 when I discovered coloring. Now I also make a few cards and some die-cutting too. I love being back because THIS TIME there is the World Wide Web! Thank you for wonderful videos. I love spending time with you and I have a 2 week long job beginning Oct 24, 2018 and I am taking Secret Garden and my Prismacolors with me!!!

    I came accros your prismacolor tutorial late. I'm very happy that you are using the secret garden book. My mom and I would color during my chemo and it really helped! She got the secret garden that Christmas and she only did 1 picture before the Ms took her to the Angels.. I thought I would finish the book kind of like a gift for her. And today I came across your prismacolor tutorial and using the same book I wanted to do for mom. I hope I won't sound to weird when I say I feel I was drawn to your site. Thank you so much for helping a complete stranger. Ive been using oil based (Marco Renoir) I have prismacolor, but definitely need help with them.

    I'm so excited that I found you! I have been coloring for a long time, (10 years) starting with color by number books using Crayola twist colored pencils. Then Joanna's book came out. I see all these people color beautiful pictures that have blended colors. I have no idea how to do it. So I just do a straight color, laying down colors the old fashioned way. Haha. Then a couple of weeks ago I found Ann from A Coloring Life. I love her channel and learned a lot of information about different pencils. I did get a 72 set of Prismas for my birthday. I did hear people saying they had problems with them breaking. I told my daughter, be careful don't drop them. She might have done an eye roll. I've learned so much from you with this series. My pencil case is coming today. I will be coloring along with you from Secret Garden with confidence. This is going to be so much fun! Thank you.

    All done :) I found that a little challenging, being a heavy-handed colourist too and holding the pencil that far down didn't feel natural or too comfortable, but I can see how that helps, thank you :)

    Hi Erin, I realize that this is an old video for you, but I just have to tell you that I can watched your 4 videos about Prismacolors and how to practice shading and I just had to tell you of all the 100's of videos I have watched the last two weeks (I'm not even exaggerating) yours has helped me the most! I finally figured out how to get my shading down and how not to go in so hard. 🙂 So thank you very much! I'm practicing and coloring to relax and enjoy. Thanks again.

Great tutorial, but the amusingly the only concern I have is that you call your site "Simple Art" for Adults. So far haven't seen simple! LOL

    This was really cool to see. I totally agree that Prismas will act way differently on different papers. For me, they tend to hate that awful Create Space paper (can't blame 'em) but they do beautifully on other papers. Gotta love the vibrant colors with this line of pencils. Do you have a link to the vellum cardstock? I'm always looking for something suitable to print out digital pictures to color and computer paper just doesn't hack it for me.

    • @SimpleArtforAdults
      @SimpleArtforAdults  6 лет назад +2

      Prismacolor and Createspace don't mix. At all. You'll have to use a blender pencil with the vellum cardstock (I do, anyway) but the results are gorgeous and the colors are crazy vibrant. You can find it here www.amazon.com/dp/B010CEHOL6/ref=pantry_cstm

    • @SimpleArtforAdults
      @SimpleArtforAdults  6 лет назад +1

      OH! I think the Polychromos & Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor pencils work best on Createspace paper.

    • @NisesSanctuary
      @NisesSanctuary 6 лет назад +2

      How right you are about Prismacolors and Createspace paper! Ugh! That stuff requires a harder core to succeed. Also, don't ever use Prismacolors on the yucky paper that most greyscale coloring books are printed on. They don't do well and if you use a blender pencil, the greyscale stuff will smear and wreck your color. :( Polychromos seem to do well on it though. Thank you so much for the tips on the vellum cardstock. I love the look a blender pencil gives and I totally agree about the vibrancy of the colors. Thanks for the link too. That helps tremendously.

      that looks like the same paper I use. It seems to have a lot of tooth. I either use a colorless blending pencil or a alcohol as a solvent.

    • @SimpleArtforAdults
      @SimpleArtforAdults  6 лет назад +1

      terilew1 Yes, it's pretty toothy! I have better luck with a pencil than with alcohol personally. :)

    Thanks for the useful tips! I just got a set of 72 prisma colors for Christmas and can't wait to get started! Is there a sketch book of good quality paper you would recommend? If not, do you know what the difference is between the Bristol vellum series (400,500,600)?

    • @SimpleArtforAdults
      @SimpleArtforAdults  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Chandni! Glad you enjoyed the tips, and you will LOVE your new Prismas! With the numbers you're giving me, I would assume you're looking at Strathmore products. The higher the number, the higher quality the paper when it comes to that particular brand. So your 300 would be the basic paper, the 400 is the higher-grade paper, and the 500 is the absolute best they make.
      When it comes to sketchbooks, I just go inexpensive. The Strathmore toned sketchbooks are amazing with Prismacolors because they make the colors really pop! You can get toned tan or toned gray. I really prefer the toned tan, myself. For white paper, I usually go with Canson because it's inexpensive. You can choose from sketch paper (thin), drawing paper (a little thicker), or mixed media paper (for adding ink or water media).
      I hope this helps!

    Ooh... can you share a link to the Vellum paper? I looked, but there are all different kinds for different prices. Maybe now I'll get some ink for my printer since I learned of a good paper to use! Thanks for the video! I'm only halfway through it right now, but so far it's awesome and informative!

    • @SimpleArtforAdults
      @SimpleArtforAdults  6 лет назад +2

      The price has actually gone down! :-O And it's 250 sheets per package. It's still copy paper, so it's not "artist grade", but if you need something to put through your printer that works well with colored pencil and won't break the bank, this is it: www.amazon.com/dp/B010CEHOL6/ref=pantry_cstm

    Hi.I want to try prismacolors. But I cant decide which set is better.Would you recommend 72 (97$) or 132 (144$)? Can I get the same colors in 132 by blending some colors of 72 (especially skin colors)?

    • @SimpleArtforAdults
      @SimpleArtforAdults  6 лет назад +1

      Hello, Turkan! Do you live in an area where you have easy access to individual pencils? If you can buy them individually, I would try them out that way first. Some people don't like Prismacolor at ALL. You can blend a lot of colors with just the 72, but here's the issue: if you LOVE the pencils, you're going to wish you'd bought the 132 (the 150 is even better!). If you hate the pencils, you're going to regret buying even the 72. That's why I think I'd try to buy open stock or the smallest set possible before you commit such a large amount of money. That's my opinion, though. Others may feel differently, and at the end of the day, it's all about what works best for your.

      You just read my mind that I would regret later if I buy 72.If it is easy to blend the colors,then I can buy 72.By the way it is cheap in amazon and again no shipment to my country.Yes, there is an open stock on Ebay, I am afraid of not getting them.I have not another way.Thanks again.
