What luck! I walked along an alley one day this spring and noticed there were the largest dandelions I ever saw in my life. (I'm 61 years old. I have seen a whole lot of dandelions.) They were about 24" tall. The leaf disk reached out about 14" diameter, and the puff ball on top was about 3" diameter. I snatched the seeds. All of them. Now They are waiting to get planted. ooooweeee. Dandelion wine galore!

Thank you so much for the information I wonder how many people think dandelions are useless when in fact they can help with a lot of things

I was growing dandelions for awhile so I could get larger plants, as far as I am concerned its not spring until you eat your first dandelion, I love the slight bitter taste. the big dandelions, I peel the leafy part off of the stem. I grow some in pots so I can be sure no animals peed on them and then I can wash them and eat them raw in salads. I learned about dandelions from eastern European Jewish people I saw picking them in parks, when I was a kid living in Chicago. I enjoy your videos.

Aww yay! I love dandelions! I’ve heard they are medicinal but I didn’t know they were once called a “cure-all”. Thanks for the video! I love finding old poems praising modern-day weeds and wondering what it was like back then.

She use to drink the tea,but she died before she could teach me how to make it. So thank you for making this video. Now days during this economic down turn people need videos like these to survive.

I absolutely delight in your presentations, this also is v good.
I do recommend that when you next eat the flower though you pick of the green lobes yechh! My grandfather used to make his own coffee substitute, with roasted Acorns Chicory and dried Dandilion roots, in certain parts of the UK some people still have the leaves as a salad, I think that they are a wonderful flower, and so do my bees!.

Anyway, thanks for the dandelion video. It really is a fantastic plant. I thought that you would be interested in watching another great person named 'Green Deane' with 'Eat The Weeds'. Seriously you remind me of my grandma she grew up in the Kentucky Hills and she knew so many traditional things like this. Wish I could remember all the things she taught us but unfortunately I didn't pay much attention when I was little and she passed when I was 9. If only I could go back in time and soak in all the stuff she knew. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

thank you for the video :) I just wanted to point out, that if the minerals aren't in the soil where the dandelions grow, the plants won't have those minerals. So there's no guarantee that you will get every mineral listed, unless you know it's in the soil first. Still good for people to know dandelions are edible.

. I pick dandelions when I can but my conpanion is immune to such things, more is the pity. I must have foods that have folic acid but he seems not to care more is the pity. Thank you for this.

And I thought my parents taught me everything about wild foods and medicines. We lived in the Alaskan bush when I was young and mom was big on eating natural, raising our pigs and and beef on natural foods. By the way, moose makes a good meat for pizza. When I turned 12 we moved to the edge of what we called town. This was before Alaska was a state and we were truly free. You young ladies are not only pretty but very knowledgeable.

I drop the flowerheads, minus the green parts, into pancake batter, then fry them..EXCELENT. The greens...ever eat spinach with bacon and a spash of balsamic vinegar? Substitute Dandelion leaves. Don't harvest them from a lawn where pets poop. These recipies are gourmet..priceless in my opinion. The sap in the roots is like exlax.

+Easy Rider. Yea I agree with you just like cannabis is a weed and it has many medicinable uses. I believe the government should have ended the prohibition on cannabis years ago. But there's people who still believe I like the actors in that movie Refer Madness, what a load of propaganda crap that was. I believe in nature, I believe in God of my own understanding and I believe in lLive And Let Live. One more, Love and let Love. It's simple but not all the Humans on the planet get this easy concept of ideas for living and life.

It was a normal thing while I was growing to have dandelions for dinner, my mammaw would mix the leaves with kale and fix them like spinach in butter and salt. Also, making coffee from the roots and tea from the flowers was a normal thing for us too. Awesome video! Great Job 😊 and P.S. I saw a comment about your knife and well, I love the fact you carry a large knife lol and I do too 😊 I call it the "Ultimate Bowie" because it can do anything a hatchet can do, as well as anything a knife is suppose to do 😊 so from me to you, awesome choice for a knife 😊

if the lines are deep i don't think there would be a problem with picking those dandelions. Especially if it's from your home. I might be concerned about unknown diseases if it were a public line but otherwise it should be ok as long as there is no standing water from it.
