    This is why I don't like to fly inverted and it is not what you think!

    Great fun flight with the Tundra V2. I think we all make bad decisions when we are young or just starting out, it is learning and growing that makes us better. That isn't just true for planes, there are many things that can apply to. But you always end with the most important thing, priorities. Thank you for sharing.

    Tundra is a great flying ! I have one and I put a 2800ma 4 cell in it , once you fly one with a 4 cell you will never go back to 3 cell as it's all the difference from night to day . Turns it into a rocket ship with unlimited vertical ! Try it once ! Keep up the good work!!!

      I actually have tried it on a 2200 4s and yes it is a beast . And thanks for stopping by.

    Hi Greg, I got the tundra v2 today after watching your videos. I have no info on elevator mix for flaps. What did you set yours at? Thanks for the help!

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  2 года назад

      Thanks so much. Mixes are a subjective thing. Always go with what the manual suggest and then go from there. For the Tundra plug in 11% down elevator for take off flaps and then 22% down elevator mix for landing flaps. Now for Landing flaps themselves whatever on your transmitter gives the straight down barn style flaps for landing flaps. For take off flaps try 25% down and see how she handles. Remember these settings are subjective to how you fly, the weight of your lipos and where you feel comfortable with the planes CG. rule of thumb for LANDING flaps , when deployed the plane should not balloon (go up) or dive rather simply slow down and stay level. For a good take off flap the goal is for your plane to gently rise level off the ground with little to no elevator input.

    Let's hear more about the wife getting you in the hobby. I'd be interested in her reasons why and how she chose rc airplanes. Curious minds want to know. And kudos to her supporting the hobby we love so much. Your a lucky guy!!

    I take uncomfortablness as a sign that I need to do it more. When learning to knife edge I would practice whole flights on the left side. I continued until I could fly the whole flight on knife edge..... steering with my elevator and controlling altitude with a combination of rudder and speed while keeping the wings vertical with aileron. Once I conquered the left side I switched to the right side....until I could fly the entire flight on the right side. Then I could go from left edge flying to right edge flying and comfortable doing it finally.
    Inverted flying requires a exit strategy. Least altitude loss is to half roll..... most altitude gain is negative half loop..... most altitude loss is a positive half loop..... which I discovered 2 great planes cherokees ago becomes a big half loop when the glow plug takes a dump on the bottom half of a vertical 8 and there is no prop blast over the elevator surface.
    On the cherkees as a side note.... I've had 4. I get about 80 or 100 hours on them and then I start flying them like I stole them. #1 something failed while flying low knife edge. #2 dumb thumb as described earlier. #3 ripped the wings off diving straight down from an estimated 800 feet at about 100 feet perform a negative snap roll. Holy cow what a violent maneuver. Well #1 and #2 did it all the time. It even broke the AX55 motor in the soft Florida dirt. I managed to get #4 when one mysteriously showed up on Tower Hobbies after the new folks took over and great planes production ceased. It is a rocket ship with a pylon racing prop on it and 20% nitro.

    I hear that the Tundra can tip stall, is this so ?

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  2 года назад

      Any plane will tip stall it is just a question of when and what tendency that particular plane does. However one rule to follow is the shorter the wing the more speed needed to maintain lift . The tundra is similar to a clipped wing cub in that they both have shorter wings. However the tundra has squared off wings giving it more wing area to generate lift.

    I am pretty sure you're not supposed to land as well as that. I have mastered RC since the seventies, and I know for a fact that tail draggers are expected to bounce during youtube landings.
