"And were just gonna put a happy little tree right, nones gonna know about it itll be ourl ittle secret, just-RIGHT HERE IN HIS LUNG"
the fact that peter porco saw himself in the mirror after getting hacked in the head 16 times and STILL didn’t recognize his own head wound is bone-chilling.
Quite literally
And he shaved too
@@dammaguy1286I can't even imagine how the hell that was possible considering that when you look into the details of the case, the ax literally "took off his jaw"...shave what???
Bing chilling
This is an example of just how blindly you can function "on automatic pilot"... We often wonder how people can blunder so lucidly into such REMARKABLY STUPID sh*t from time to time, and this is how that can happen, too... It's a matter of the brain building those "muscle memories" or rather what the neuroscientists call "procedural memory"... In fact, a person can suffer total amnesia to the point that he or she can't even tell you their name, but put a new pen in their hand and tell them to sign something, and it's a matter of legibility as to whether or not you'll get a name out of it... as often as not in such cases, THEY CAN SIGN...
We (humans) DO have the power of individual free will, but to exercise it takes energy. Our brains cost about 25% of our daily caloric intake, making them VERY expensive as organs go. SO... it's practically automatic that our nervous system as a whole tries to find more efficient ways of functioning on all fronts, including turning any regular routine into procedural memory. Add in some neuro-plasticity, and you can get some VERY intricate and elaborate processes done as automated functions with no more thought actively put to them than walking or breathing.
SO when Peter was so far brain damaged as to be "dead on his feet" he was capable of all the procedural memory items... the routines he'd probably done daily for DECADES, and he simply went through all the motions... and without a single possible thought to the details, from the bleeding to the missing jaw, gaping wounds all over his head and shoulders... nothing... It's equal parts fascinating and horrific. ;o)
I feel bad for the "mafia" father who didn't get to see his daughter anymore because his ex-wife was insane. That must be rough.
well, he was also violently drunk, and hella abusive to his family, so probably for the best on that front. unfortunately, her crazy mom was who she was stuck with.
@@kelsielovesbbu well, him being an alcoholic was probably the result of having an insane wife who was also cheating on him.

Ah yes, I heard the one about Christopher Porco before. Still haunts me how his father went on auto-pilot the entire morning and couldn't tell the blood trail he was leaving behind was from his own head wound. He was already dead, but still 'living' at the same time... Yeah, disturbing as hell.

Idk why this made me laugh so hard 🤣🤣
As soon as her mom told her that her jewelry was bugged, I knew it was delusional
My mom and my step-dad. They have been missing since 2008. But I think that situation was more like gangstalking.
Several years ago the dept of transportation bought a house I rented for a road expansion. They sent agents to help residents on our street with relocation. These agents helped each of us find new living quarters paid for by DOT. My agent helped me negotiate a rental in an apartment , the DOT paid a year in advance, which was simply compensation for the inconvenience. It is notable that I am a book keeper, and this was on my rental application. The apt manager thought it was all very odd and finally asked if it was really the Witness Protect Program. When we told her no she remained skeptical. The agent and I found it amusing but thought nothing of it at the time. I moved in and things were fine. But everytime I went into the office after that the entire staff would become quiet and stare at me in awe. I finally accepted that they were never going to accept the "DOT story" and for the next year I enjoyed the reverence and awe of the staff, finding it quite entertaining. I've since moved, but run into people from that office from time to time. I still enjoy the notoriety.

Two years ago, a schizophrenic son killed his parents with an axe two doors down from my house. His dad was an artist, and the son, after killing his parents, pulled all of his dad's paintings out of the house and piled them across the road. That huge pile of paintings was the first thing we saw before we knew about the murders. The son was convinced the government had planted a chip in his head, and he had to do whatever he was programmed or told to do. I am surprised that story was not more widespread; it's highly unusual for this small city.
It's weird how the chip in people's head when they are crazy never tells them to do nice things.. just murder. That's why I believe its all a crock of 💩
Was the art any good? Did you get a piece of art?
@@FulkNerraIII It was really good, actually -- beautiful geometric shapes on enormous canvases. I didn't get any, though -- that would be stealing. ;) Also, the killer was still on the loose in the neighborhood by the time we saw the pile of artwork, and the whole pile was soon surrounded by police tape.
Do you remember the son's name? I'd like to look into this story
@@priscillagraham3723 His first name is Taka, but I can't remember his last name. His mother was French-Canadian and his dad was Japanese. His mother was a friend of mine and a lovely neighbor. This was in Charleston, WV.
The dad in the 3rd story accomplished more tasks after his horrific ordeal than I do on a Monday morning, even after coffee. Suddenly I feel lazy. God rest his soul
What's crazier than the father doing his routine is the mom letting the son live with her during the trial..
I swear it must be because her head wasnt right since the attack. Or I hate 2say, shes one of those weirdo moms that believe their kids never do anything wrong, constantly make dumb excuses for them and are in complete denial. Right wtf 😳
She had no recollection of the events after her coma. You can tell someone something happened to them as much as you’d like, but if they don’t remember it happening to them, they won’t believe you, especially since they would know. It threw me off for a second, too, but she didn’t have a reason, as far as she saw, to believe he had done it.

@@tararenner235that's literally anyone who idolizes a politician. Obama had his own little cult of personality, too. I think Chris Porco's mother's very odd behavior with her murderous son during the trial has to have something to do with how he ended up an axe murderer. Either that or her head injury affected her judgement.
tbh it's gotta be brain damage, and she's left with just her instinctive love for her son.

I've never seen something like that happening in any other movie. People always die immediately after gettimg shot in head.
In some movies people instantly die when they get shot in the chest lol. Real life is far more insane and interesting tbh
The dad doing his routine is heartbreaking. The mom standing by her son's side, shows just how much a mothers love will blind you from thinking your child could do such a horrendous act.
I think it would be more like forgiveness other than denial. Believing he wasn't himself when he comitted the act. It's the easiest way to render the trauma
@@RalphVB Yeah or maybe he head was just fukkd from the bashing
@@dxshawn532 yeah but that wouldn't change the mind of the mother. Most people view their children through a special lense, especially if they've never done something like that before. the real issue was she enabled all of his lies and thefts…she was directly responsible for her son stealing and defrauding more and more until he went too far and was facing prison for his fraud. she supported and helped him throughout that!
@@RalphVB it's not denial, it's simply the bond between mother and child.
The idea that someone can go through a normal morning routine with a gaping head wound until they drop dead is both frightening and fascinating.

Now I do.

Yeah
What an amazing mother. She exposed him, then stood by him, through out it all. 😢
As a mother, I can understand why acting to love I our child unconditionally even after they do something so horrific not only to someone you love, but to you too. I honestly don’t know how she let him stay in her home. But I also know that brain injuries are extremely complex and make you do wild things. My sister is still recovering from a TBI after a car accident earlier this year. She was in a medically induced coma for 2 weeks and spent about a month in a Neurological rehabilitation hospital. For a while after her crash, she 100% believed that someone had attacked her and stabbed her and even said a person she said knew did it and was upset with us because we weren’t trying to have him prosecuted. It was really wild. Her leg had been crushed in the accident and she needed 2 surgeries to put it back together… and in her mind, those were stab wounds caused by a broken beet bottle. It was so wild because her memeories of this were very vivid and specific and even caused us to wonder if she had been attacked at some point and was remembering a completely separate incident. Then one day she just stopped talking about it, now it seems like she’s accepted she was in a car accident because for a while she didn’t even believe that. It’s a sad thing seeing a loved one not be able to remember things from their life and be a completely different person. It makes me wonder if her brain made her think he wasn’t a threat to protect herself from the pain and trauma.
He really got me with that sarcasm “As you can clearly tell, he is beside himself and can barely speak”

That last story surely raises questions about how the brain actually works, and how long it really takes for a person to be completely dead.
I read people are still conscious seconds or minutes after decapitation based on a study before when the guillotine is still legal
@@benitawatch6646they’re not conscious. Your body just acts on the last signals that were sent by the brain

I get that but the thing is if that's the case how could he possibly have not seen his injuries in the mirror when he was shaving or notice the blood everywhere? The brain is an amazing piece of work.
My grandfather had a similar experience as the guy with the spruce tree in his lung. Pappy once went to his doctor complaining of stomach pain. It was quickly determined that there was a nine inch oak tree in his gut. He was taken into surgery and the tree was successfully removed. They theorized that he had swallowed an acorn even though Pappy had no recollection of doing so.
A couple days later, a squirrel lept out of his ass and scampered out into the forest.
LOL.
The stomach acid would dissolve the acorn

Aww I was hoping!!!
That is taking going green to the next level
Awwe he basically felt he gave birth 🤗
Really?? I was secretly hoping they tried to save it. :D
The big thing is, he only found out about it because of the needles from the fur tree. If it wasn't a fur tree he may have not had it removed in time. It could have planted it's roots deep into his lungs had they not found it when they did. He got so lucky
I swear if that was my tree in my lung I 100% would have asked for it, planted it in my yard and nurtured that tree for the rest of my life.
Same, a great conversation starter when people visit, they wouldn’t believe you 😂
One of my first thoughts right away were "okay but did he keep the tree? DID HE PLANT IT?"
Honestly, if that happened to me, I would see if any of the tree could be salvaged so I COULD plant it, LMAO. But I think most of us would prefer our plants outside our bodies to begin with, not start with, haha.
Damn right. Closest a man will ever come to having a baby.
Hah! that's actually a neat idea :D
Would that have made you that trees father/mother because you kinda have given it life?
…”morning routine” was featured on an episode of the original “FORENSIC FILES” and while it is a bizarre case it also says something about the capacity of the human body and the will to live
No that last story made me tear up! They were wonderful parents and only wanted the best for their son and tried to help him and he still did violent acts, and when I seen the photo of his mom walking with him really got me she really loves her son and wants to be there for him even after what he did, I hope he looks at her face and what he’s done to it and regrets it everyday, she deserves an apology and he deserves to rot in jail.

As a mental health clinician, delusional disorder is one of the most fascinating disorders to see. I've only ever seen it twice, but it's amazing how someone can be entirely normal except for this one very specific and totally off the wall delusion. If you don't ask the right question, you may never know.
I was taken aback, myself. I wonder how many of us have it, without any idea. But then, real fears could also be dismissed, if assumptions are made. I imagine it could be difficult to determine which life-crippling fears are real, and which should be given therapy. It would be very bad to tell someone it’s all in their head, if they truly are in some danger.
what did you see? like example?
16 hits with an axe, and his brain still has the ability to get up on time and do everything he normally did during his morning routine without hesitation. The human body is capable of amazing things.
The axe attacks all left his motor cortex and parietal lobe undeterred. He was a living zombie until his brain eventually gave out.
Imagine if it hadn't given out until he'd gotten to work...
But how did they know if that happened, ho witnessed that, was there any cameras in that house cuz I wanna see the footage
Reminds me of my friend that was found on his kitchen floor after suffering a heart attack.
At he hospital, he was hooked up to all kinds of machines and was in a coma
It so happened that the day I visited him I was startled when he ‘woke’ up, started ripping the tubes and wires that was hooked up to him and he looked at me and asked me if we are still going out for breakfast because we planned it the day before his heart attack.
He proceeded to look around the room and had this quizzical expression for a few seconds then fell back down into his hospital bed. By this time nurses came barging in because of the alarms he set off by tearing away at the tubes and such.
It was a pretty creepy moment.
He died the next day.
And yet I'm mad when I get up early at all.... Need mine checked out. Lol
Jesus christ, I got a massive full body chill when you said he still got up and did his morning routine.
I felt sad. Poor guy. Just a regular Joe going about his business not realizing his own son had chopped his head up.

I think this is the most horrible story from Mr Ballen so far. Your own child is doing such a horrible thing to you...
@NaiRemlap1 Hhhmm , interesting.......I guess it just doesn't even faze me anymore. I mean I'm constantly getting right back up and continuing on with my day after getting bludgeoned to near death by my axe-wielding dickens of a son!
With that said though, I can see your point. If you're not quite accustomed to something of that nature, one can definitely see the potential for that to become........slightly disconcerting.
Was truly on autopilot
The love from some mothers is truly strong, i guess. I genuinely believe if she had remembered the details, she would not have been reacting that way.
Thank you for the wonderful way of telling! You make the story come alive! Never have I enjoy a story so much even if it's a book story! I want to thank you for that 😊🖤
His poor mother... Couldn't possibly believe her son killed her husband and attempted to kill her... I hope she's doing okay.
I wish my parents loved me & they are alive & kicking.
@TheStonesSing I think its because she was whacked so hard
@@superstevo189 - EXACTLY! Because she was hit 13 times SO HARD! 🤪

As soon as I heard him talking to the 911 operator I suspected him big time.
For sure. I thought the same thing. Anyone with a conscience would be obviously distressed and probably fighting back the tears with every word. I knew right then he had something to do with it, and it almost sounded like he was trying to find where the mother was to finish the job.
Yeah me too. I was confused for a sec when Mr. Ballen started saying he was upset and crying, then he was "no." I was like ok, cause I was about to say...
Yeah as soon as I heard there were sons, and the parents were found dead, I knew it was one of them. But thought maybe the son who was serving had come back home with ptsd and killed them.
Me too, specially when he sounded disturbed that his mom was alive and asked about her condition to make sure she gonna die
@@Abcd-dz2bn my baby can do no wrong! He is a good boy would never hurt anyone
I really feel for the second story. My mum had schizophrenia and pretty much the only reason I didn't get folie a deux from her was because we both have "dominant personalities". The ending especially. No, you don't get an apology from a delusional parent, because in their eyes, they were doing the right thing, they were "protecting" you. It's hard to exist in a world where you've been harmed but you have to come to terms with the fact that you can't blame the person who hurt you because it technically wasn't their fault.
Yeah she "wasn't responsible" for moving her kids multiple times and having an affair and destroying the life of her husband. Keep telling yourself that.

@@valkyrja-- not saying this was the case, but it's possible that it was a situation where he was a good father but a bad husband.
@@panicattheanimationstudio5673 this is something someone who is or has been abused would say.....I hope this is not the case and you yourself are in a safe living situation, and have healthy relationships...hurting the mother hurts the kids, and that means he is not a good, or complete father to them
@@panicattheanimationstudio5673 That's NEVER the case. A bad husband is not only a bad influence but traumatizing, and thus a bad father.

Wow! This really demonstrates the unconditional love of a mother
It's unbelievable how much those parents loved their son and he was still willing to committ such an atrocious crime.
My grandfather worked his whole life for a railroad hauling grain. He told us once he developed a cough and out came a sprouted grain. He had no issues after that.
I heard about a bean sprouting in a baby’s nose. The baby, as babies will, put a bean up its nose and the bean sprouted. The mother discovered it when it began to grow out of the kid’s nostril.

It's sad when you realize that Joan Porco was still supportive of her psycho son was because he quite literally beat the memories of his attempted murder out of her.
I'm actually quite 50/50 on did she beleave it or not. She could have made the decision to stand by her son and it being easier if she lives like it would't have been the son who did it to her and her husband. Or she didn't want him to go into prison even after all that, or be seen in such a bad light by public. The case just is So clear cut and yes mind (especially after head trauma) can make all kinds of things up but I have a feeling she deepdown knew. Nonethless it's very sad case, so weard seeing those photos of them hugging with her injuries.

That episode was on forensic files. It wasn't like he was really alive or awake to understand. It was just that the part of his brain that worked his routine was just still functioning. He made breakfast and all. The way they knew because they tracked his blood all over the house and he died right by the door coming in from getting the paper. That episode totally creeps me out from the first time I saw it. I actually just watched it this morning.
