@@sovietowl4389 as someone who has played this game without save states, it’s needlessly complicated and continues to get more complicated throughout the game.
I once read a review for this game in an old gaming magazine, I recall it saying something along the lines of "the game looks incredible, until anything, especially your character, moves."

You know I was thinking the Da Vinci Code seemed like something that did not need a videogame adaption but after you get passed the 20 minutes of dialogue it hooks you in with a quicktime event of Tom Hanks opening a window.
I hope Arin is keeping tabs on his trigger phrases: "I got this!" - He is about to game over, often painfully.
Someone ELSE saying: "I got it!" - He absorbs all knowledge in the room and wins, often painfully (for others).

I feel like its always when they play random games. Whenever they paly heavily demanded "good games" its too... careful? Like too many people scream at them for making fun of their "favorite games" or "talking over the dialogue.". But when they get to play stuff without worrying about offending people, like these shovelware games, they come off amazing again.
Sonic, Mario, and Zelda are a few exceptions where I feel they know people will get mad, and don't care. But many games feel too careful to get wild with.

Back in the day it was this shit. The game was like a freaking carbon copy of the plot of the movie you just interacted with it. And anytime one came out and was relatively popular it was translated to game like immediately.

@@Manacra13 Happens constantly. Seems they have only a few details to work with and then they create a mutated version of the plot and characters. Not much matches up other than a few details like character names. Same issue with games being turned into movies. It's strange, but just keeps happening.
@@BenjaminRegen - I’m definitely going to have to agree with OP on this one. Seems like the vast majority of games now are original IPs or installments to existing ones. There was definitely an era of big-movie-to-video-games, I remember it fondly. Few were more than basic cash grabs though.

The Willy Wonka and Da Vinci Code games were some of the first games I reviewed when I started writing video game reviews for MoviePoopShoot (the website from Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back) and they were just as terrible then as they are now. Amazing. Some serious memories flooding back here.

Seeing this title screen unsurfaced the memory in the dredges of my retail soul where I was standing behind the counter being yelled at by a man in front of his family because we were out of The Da Vinci Code movie...the Friday it released.
I unironically love this game.I got it for PS2 years ago and played the hell out of it. The puzzles are excellent and the gameplay is actually really fun. It also has really good voice acting and lipsynch for the time.
Please keep playing this! I'm invested in both the game and the commentary.
