    This is a good video. Not sure I feel confident in making my own now, but this was instructive.

    A cheap tie has a sheen. Good ties do not but department stores would have you think so. Also there should be a single thread that runs the length of the interlining that helps control the drape. See the Gentleman’s Gazette. If you learn to make good bespoke ties you can make good money but there is no reason to copy something you can pick up at Dillard’s.

      The tie didn't look very well made. The tie was quite crooked in the end... I am not sure about this tutorial.... Will look for other videos to help me as well. It's very telling that out of 120,000+ views, less than 1,000 gave it a Like. But, at least they tried to show something, I guess.

    You have done a marvelous job. Did you leave the folded end points of the necktie open, before you pulled it inside out? Or did you sew the folded end points before you pull it inside out? Did you stop right before the folded part of the point? Thank you.....I just can't master that part, please help

      Hi Gina, Jen no longer works here so I'm not entirely sure how the point works! See my reply to your question on the mitered corner video for details about how you could do a combination of the mitered corner technique and the way it's done in this video.

    Great video, but, ties are not supposed to be ironed after sewed, the borders are supposed to look thick and round, as a quality tie, and not flat as cheap ties or how cheap dry cleaning handle them back to you. A good dry cleaning will unsew all the length of the seam, iron the fabric flat, and sew it back again without ironing any more. Note it down 😀

    Thank you for this! Although, in which step would be a good time to embroider the tie? (If you wanted to customize it)

    • @onlinefabricstore
      @onlinefabricstore  3 года назад

      I would say in between 2 & 3. Before you start sewing in the lining will give you the best looking end result.

    I used your tie pattern and it's like two times longer than a regular tie ?? The width is normal though, but I cant believe I wasted fabric on this. Or is there a special way to tie it ? Did I miss something ?

      Cutting on the bias makes the tie susceptible to stetching out. Maybe that is why?

      Longer ties just need to use a full Windsor knot. Shorter ties use half Windsor. I only have a couple long ties that need full Windsor, so I enjoy making that knot.

    Is the interfacing a woven sew-in or is it fusible?
