Very good! Loved your instructions. A few hints to something already excellent from a necktie affinicado 1. use silk as the main material. Silk drapes well and is so loyal to a good looking windsor knot. 2. if you can embroid your own message on the loop at the back, e.g. the initials of the person receiving the tie or your own message 3. use very thin polyester for the loop instead of the tape shown here. It should complement the luxury feel of the main material Thank you, Dana, an excellent video.
I decided to make neckties for my hubby, brother and dad this year for Christmas and before I started searching for a pattern, I kid you not, I said "please let MADE Everyday have a video of one". I absolutely love your videos. Thank you so much, for not only sharing your love of sewing, but for also getting straight to the point, making it fun and showing the steps so clearly.
I love this tie pattern! I made all the groomsman ties for my wedding with my mom and it was such a fun project! We made about 30 ties all together and this pattern made it so easy and fast!
Merci!! Ran out of ideas for my hubby on top of not working so.... I found some leftover fabric and made the perfect tie and a matching pocket square. Thanks!
I love that your tutorial is fun, bright, and most of all not boring. I love that the tutorial is continuous, and your no describing non-sense...you stick to the subject...how to sew the tie.
Hi i'm 11 years old, and I wanted to start my own clothing line. I wanted to start with ties because shirts and pants and jackets and all that kind of stuff just looks super complex and I thought ties would be easier. My mom has a sewing machine and tomorrow I'm going to ask her if she can show me how to use it. Thank you for making this video, It was very helpful.
My dear, you are just delightful to listen to! I really enjoy the way you speak and your instructions are so concise, I feel like I can do this. Thanks!
Oh thank goodness! I have a job interview tomorrow and can't find my black tie. My scrap fabric and I thank you profusely! What a helpful and well done tutorial.
seriously! I think you just make finding the bias or grain and how to find it make sense for the first time in my life!!!!!!!!!! loving your channel! thank you so much!
Thank you Dana. I always love your tutorials and your directions on your patterns are very helpful. Making your stuff makes me feel I can sew anything!
I am having a hard time with the download printing right! if you have the dimensions of the pre-sewn pattern pieces so I can make sure I printed it right that would be amazing! Trying to make this in the next couple of days :(

Literally the best tutorial ever! This was my first real sewing project, and though it took me a little bit of time to really understand the tie turned out fabulous!
I've made two ties in the past, both were sewed by hand, but this video has a good pattern to follow, can't wait to dust off the sewing machine to try this out
I made a headband using this "necktie technique." I wanted my headband to have clean points on both ends. I only used about 3 inches of extra fabric beyond the points of my fabric. It totally worked. I used a red buffalo cotton on the outside and green buffalo cotton fabric for the inside lining. It's beautiful. I just wanted to say thank you for your videos. They are easy to understand and applicable to more than the exact items you sew.
What a fantastic tutorial! thank you so much! I have so many beautiful Aboriginal (Indigenous Australian) prints that I've been really wanting to incorporate into some of my clothing. You're a gem! Many kind returns!
Thank you!! I just made one of these for my husband as a Christmas gift and I absolutely love how it turned out, and I think he's going to love it too!
I love this, I love you, and I love the fact that your little guy likes to wear a tie to church! I’m in after my own heart! I learned how to sew bowties, now it’s time for as a few funky next time you’re my wardrobe! Thanks!
I have been watching several diy sewing videos. I like yours the best because you take the path of least resistence and you always seem to emphasize something not to forget. Thank uou!
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!. I was like why is Dana sewing all the pieces together, not knowing you were going to turn inside out like a tube. Yes very important to do the ends first. Another must do projects to add to the list. Just purchased your pattern to support.
decided to make my husband a tie for the wedding he's standing up in...got makers remorse when i tried to visualize how I was going to pull this off!! Thank you so much for the tutorial!! He'll have the best looking tie there!
Loved the video! I was looking for a great tutorial for a tie and was about to give up. I am taking one of my late grandmother’s dress and turning it into a tie for my brother. So thank you!
I have bombed so badly on making ties...so far. Your directions are different, and now I have hope that I really can make my two grandsons ties for this Easter. Love everything about the video -- thank you so much!
Thank you so much sweetie for this tutorial, I cannot thank you enough, I made a tie years ago and like you I dissect things I want to make for a pattern however I tried using a backing (bondable) and it didn't go to plan! Needless to say I had to throw it away! But I really needed to make one as a special surprise for my dad for his birthday this month and wanted another go at it. Finding your tutorial has saved the day, simple little tips u give make so much difference to the finished piece. Can't wait to try some more of your ideas. Blessings xx
A bucket of thanks for this tutorial Dana. It really helped me to wear a tie of my favorite fabric in my cousin's wedding which I couldn't find in a single ready made shop of my city :)
first.....love your hair ❤ I get so excited when I see "MADE everyday" posted a new video. thank you for the great tutorials, you explain projects so well and give great tips.
This was really easy. I once made neckties for my grandson and son-in-law. I finished the ties by hand. This could be a project for me to make ties for my son and his four sons also.
I have very little experience in sewing. I want to make a special tie for my son, who is getting married soon. Your instruction is so clear and easy to follow. Thank you.
Wow! I was literally just wondering how to see a tie! The thought crossed my mind to see one for my groom and our fathers to wear in our wedding! I didn’t search for this I was actually looking up quilting and all of a sudden here it is!
Haha. I love when that happens! Well have fun sewing a tie AND a quilt! I have a really detailed video for that too haha....The Ultimate Quilt Video: ruclips.net/video/Eq3koiH4B8M/видео.html

Thank you so much! I bought extra material for my husband and sons to have ties made to match my skirt for Easter and I've had a hard time finding someone to do it but now I can ♥️
Thank you!!! Just subscribed. I am tired of going to the store to buy my husband fragile ties. Like the ones we just bought are coming apart. I'm like seriously done with the paying over 90 bucks for something that's going to fall apart this quickly, sigh. Some dept stores losing their touch these days. Time to go back to sewing.
OMG I love you channel! Every time I see a video like this you inspire me to want to get up and make it, even when I know I don't have the money for it :)

Thank you so kindly. This is the exact information I needed as I making a beautiful silk tie for a very special man.
Where are some good places to buy silks? I can't find any near where I live in Middle Tennessee.
What fabric should you pair with silk as the main material? I would love some tips on that!
I feel like everyone should have a tie in their closet, regardless of gender. Never know when you may need it!!
I’m a girl and I’m obsessed with ties!
