  • When we look at any sport, questions get asked when we see some competitors flying through the ranks whilst others take longer to progress.
So on this episode I wanted to chat about natural talent and how some karting drivers take longer to get up to speed.
Back when I started driving, things didn't happen naturally for me, I would miss apexes, not use all the track, stick behind slower drivers, and my dad would get annoyed at me.
It was 18 months before it all sunk in and I was consistently competitive at local events. But there were other drivers I started before that went past me to begin with, but in the end I had the skills to be competitive at any race.
Let us know in the comments below how long it took you to become competitive!

I haven’t gotten my first podium yet, but I’ve gotten down 56 second lap times average at Ipswich Kart track to high 51’s over October last year to now. I race ka4 junior light.

Great video mate me and my brother have just started rental karting and he seems just to be so naturally talented but know i know if i practice i can get to his level eventually and soon get my own kart. One thing do you think i should be doing fast times in rental karts and getting podiums in the local rental kart comps before i buy a proper kart?, or can i go up whenever? cheers

But there’s still hope for drivers who don’t possess that outright speed on day 1
