Walked melton to holt zillions of times in the 1970s last time, in 1979, already getting difficult to walk some sections. Many thanks for this video.

@@nutmeg5032 comments more than welcome. My gran lived at Briston 1970 to 1979. Living in Leicester we visited her every month for a weekend plus longer stays Easter, Xmas and summer. So, over 9 years my walks would be melton to thursford, holt, corpusty or hindolveston. The track beds were all basically walkable then, just a few under bridges removed. Those walks just long enough for an afternoon or summer months evening.

Another fantastic video. Many thanks for doing the North Walsham to Mundesley line. I often walk my dog on the old line towards Holt. A very high embankment there!

Thank you for this excellent video, just had to see it again. It’s so good that so much of Melton works survives, but such a pity that the station itself is totally obliterated. I can just remember it when half dismantled.

Yes in some cases they couldn’t demolish things quickly enough.

Lovely video. Such an important part of our heritage. I think it’s such a shame that much is now gone, as it would now be used very much l’m sure !

Thanks for your comments. Yes, I certainly think some of the old lines would be of use now. Obviously in some quarters other people agree, hence the plans for a Norfolk Orbital Railway as mentioned in my video.

    Hi N50%
Great interesting video, unbelievable how things can change in a short period, wish i could have seen it how it once was!!! Ive just unintentionally bumped in to an old turntable and track bed site whilst on my travels cycling on the east coast, i've done a short video of it coming up soon.
Glad your keeping this history alive
    take care
    Kev
