Just found your very interesting video, now looking for more of yours, Just to mention that my brother Sid Coleman is a retired Caister Volunteer Lifeboat man, and when the Caister Volunteers formed over 50 years ago, he along with the others were part of this group. There are not many of the older members left now, my brother is 88 years old. On Lifeboat day a few weeks ago, we both went down, and he found a couple of the old boys to chat to, he had a wonderful afternoon.

Small error at Raynham Park it was the end of the single line from Grimston road and the line became double track all the way to Corpusty and Saxthorpe on the line to Great Yarmouth line, Not a passing loop as stated! Hope this is helpful, Thanks.

The bridge 341 Windmill Road at 10:49, has under the road been filled in or can you still walk under the road (if you brave the undergrowth)?

Runaway loco at 3:14! I thought that coupling looked a bit dodgy early on. My 7 1/4” loco has a breakaway connector in series with the motor circuit which cuts power if that happens.

Hi , at the 12.25 minute mark there was on the lhs the 1958 connection a link was built giving access to the GER line from the M&GN , this connection was a sad waste of money as the M&GN closed as a thru route 28/2/59 ,although probably used alot by demolition trains, makes me wonder whether that was the intention all along, it makes sense the more i think about it, because cromer high station was used as storage for reclaimed items when the M&GN was being destroyed.

Good video, I can remember South Town when it was the offices for Santa Fe. I'm a bit young to remember the Lowestoft - Yarmouth trains. I'm only 50! Platform 1 at Lowestoft is still Yarmouth trains only! hehe

Thank you so much for making your videos, i really do enjoy watching them. Having visited Pensthorpe nature reserve today, i just need to let you know that the section of line you filmed there was the GER Dereham to Wells line. The M&GN line ran slightly to the North in the reserve, and has been largely wiped off the map. The only surviving M&GN feature i could find was culvert 92, which is close to the cafe and shop. I had to use google maps to keep track of where the M&GN line ran.

Just like Harrogate in the 1980’s losing its shunting yard to a supermarket development , removing all railway infrastructure other than the bare essential lines into a station. Perhaps some sidings are ripe for development but all loop lines should be held in railway ownership because plans change and there could come a time when they decide need to re use.

Sad how UK has stripped out all its sidings and redundant loop lines.

My father worked on the relay gang late forties to mid fifties, much of the track on the M and GN was renewed at that time. New signalling, new turntable at Melton Constable, brand new steam locomotives in 1951/2. They were building a new engine shed at South Lynn when the line closed, terrible waste.

So much is now unknown to most people, keep up the good work.

I REALLY REALLY like the idea that the museum is open all the way up until 9pm - but is it ONLY about trolleybuses the whole day? will there be other vehicles to enjoy to? also, since it is a special event, do I need to prebook?

A very interesting set of videos. Have you considered doing a similar series covering the Waveney Valley line, from Tivetshall to Beccles, which runs throught what is now my home town, Bungay? Trouble is I'm not sure how much of the pjysical infrastructure is still in situ.

I love channels like this! Walking these trackbeds makes one realize how fast nature envelopes some features! When it comes to the plantation bit it looks as if there weren't as many trees that close to the embankment so maybe leaves may not have been such a problem on the line, but I could be wrong 😁 Thanks 👍
