Used to work at Bk. Top bun in order - mayo, lettuce, tomato Bottom bun - cheese, pickles, ketchup, onion. You got everything right except the onion and ketchup were mixed up
Acctually bottom bun goes, whopper patie, cheese, pickles, ketchup, onion you forgot the pattie and to be exact atleast were I make them it has 4 pickles 3 rings of ketchup and about 3 onion rings
This guy and this channel are pretty damn strong. I kinda tend to refuse giving food channels likes or follows unless they really deserve it... but this guy kinda just like has the something special without being spectacular imo. He just got it the right way for me.
For the U.S. style "BK Whopper" mix in a few drops of Chinese cooking wine and liquid smoke with the patty before cooking. I've experimented with many different ingredients, but this one hits the same notes with even richer flavors!
The whopper is just a great classic burger that has lasted for decades. Solid burger that doesn't try to do anything different but is very satisfying to eat.
It’s the tomato and Mayo that makes a Whopper a Whopper. The tomato just does everything to the burger. There is no fancy tricks, just basically a garden salad on a burger with some mayonnaise.
The whopper is my favorite burger and whenever I go to Burger King I get the Whopper meal with the Frozen Coke Icee. This is a great recipe. Man seeing people make the whopper is making me hungry lol
Always coming with solid BBQ videos and all around seem like an awesome genuine guy. Great content. I also used the recipe you posted recently for Love's Wood Pit BBQ and it was awesome. I've never had a glaze quite like that. It was incredible with the spatchcocked chickens I had on the smoker.
Man, I can eat those all day... that was a good looking burger you produced. Keep up the great videos... I've dubbed your videos as insta-hunger videos... you could have just eaten but watching your videos will still make you hungry!!!!
I enjoy your videos so much, whatever it is you're cooking that day :) You always seem to get a kick out of life and (more importantly) grilling up some awesome burgers. Cheers Greg!
I want to say thanks. I made your recipe today and it was an absolute hit in my house. We don't eat fast food however this is right on time. Great video and easy and really good! Thanks again
I love all of your videos! I appreciate the time care and preparation you put in. Who says man cannot leave on burgers alone! Thanks so much for posting!
I found that brewery on a lark on day when i was visiting SD. I was so blown away by it, i make it a point to revisit and get one every time I fly back to town. The pretzels there are also super legit.
Same here. I did follow many videos but never got same taste. There is a secret recipe behind the sauce that bk spread on the buns, it’s not just Mayo and ketchup
we have " Hungry Jacks " here, which is the same as burger king there in the USA, the whopper is my favourite burger to get when I have a burger. that whopper copy cat looks fabulous Greg. can't beat a great burger.
Good video. I like it that you get excited with your burger videos. My favorite was the White Castle. I tried it and it turned out great. I'm really liking my new Pit Barrel. I use it every week. Grilling on it is great.

Another great video Greg. I like when you are informative about the process of cooking (also, info about the beer is nice). Thanks for making this stuff and keep going this awesome work.
I knew the "Burger King" would eventually do a "Burger King" burger, and it looks like the real deal! Wait, I forgot about that Black burger you did, it was a BK copy cat too wasn't it? Nice job Greg!
I don't usually ever go to Burger King (but I used to a LOT back in the 80s & 90s). Just for grins n giggles, Levi & I went through the drive at a local BK about a year ago... Gotta say, your version is 100% better than what we had then. Everything seemed to be about half the size of what I remember. Of course, the prices were pretty much double than what I expected. I've been using something similar for lighting the coals lately... I think they're called "Tumbleweeds". And yea, they're FAST!
Sitting here in self-isolation just absolutely FIENDING for a whopper and the nearest BK ie 30 miles from here.(Sad trombone sound) Ima try to make one.
High five for the Hungry Jacks shout out! Fun fact, the reason it's not called Burger King here, is because we already had a burger store called Burger King that pre-dated Burger King (US).
FIRE STARTER: Everyone uses toilet paper. Save the card rolls from the center, stuff with lint from your dryer. Squirt fire starter in, light nd place where you want the fire. Your cost is the fire starter only!
the original burger king whoppers in the early 1960's were cooked over an open flame fire. while driving down the road, the smell of the burgers being grilled would make you forget about dinner plans and you would stop, go in, and buy one. they had large and small. ever so good!!!!
Hi worker at BK. You've got everything correct. As a worker I can guarantee everything else is fresh except for the meat. Now for those wondering why the burgers don't look like his is because most of our workers rush. We only are given under a minute to get an order done which means toasting the buns, assembly and wrapping. Now its more difficult if it's on a whopper Wednesday which is considered payday for us BK workers and also the busiest time of the week. A life hack to this is to order heavy all. This will give you a very identical version to the ads and Greg's video.
Nice job Greg. Just watched the big mac, and then this. Will have to make a copycat copycap soon. Am building a uds so it could be the insguration cook on that :) Thanks mate!
Love your videos! I'm a recent subscriber, but I've gone back and watched a lot of your prior content. Being from NC, I realize I need to tweak some of the spices for my family's taste buds, but you have provided me with absolute spot on advice for helping me ensure I get the primary recipe building blocks of the meal correct. Thank you so much! 😊
Pickles and there are pickles. Fermented dill pickles are the only ones i use as I prefer them but vinegar preserved pickles are so much easier to find. Do both get used on burgers?
That looked pretty bloody good mate. Here is how to make the quintessential Aussie burger that you would find in any non chain burger joint in Australia. I hope you make it. Use the same patty and bun as you used in this vid. Feel free to use a bigger patty. lettuce , tomato , bbq onions (give them a good splash of worcestershire sauce when half cooked) bacon , a bbq egg (runny yolk), cheese and some beetroot. BBq sauce and i'd like so see a darkish ring around the toasted side of the bun. cheers. P.S. It should really have a bbq pineapple ring too , to be a true Aussie burger but i never order the pineapple.
keep up the great work you do on your channel I totally impressed my cousins visiting from the united states i used quality australian beef and they were amazing.
Spot on. Love these videos. I'm impressed with that charcoal starter. It works out really good, from what I see. I'm looking forward to more burger recipes from other establishments. Cheers!
The whole video I was thinking of the movie Pulp Fiction, "Royale with Cheese". Great looking burger Greg, I'm going to have to try those fire starters.
Oldbmwr100rs IT USED TO BE FLAME BROILED BACK IN THE DAY; NOW BK BURGER TASTES LIKE SOMEONE SLID THE COOKED BURGER INTO AN ASTRAY OF CIGARETTE ASHES, THEN PROMPTLY ASSEMBLED THE BURGER, WHERE THE STALE TASTE OF FAST FOOD PREP AREA, AND CIGARETTE ASHES OVERWHELMS ANY SEMBLANCE OF A BURGER FLAVOR.
Do you know how much hotter you get the PBC with a totally open vent? What's your elevation to give an idea of how much you normally have the vent open. Great video!
I used to frequent BK back in the 80s and loved the Whopper back then. Nowadays all the BK joints here are always empty. Makes me wonder how they stay open.
It's the initial taste that hooks you. as you slowly get that salty taste from the fries as you chew and feel it mash into an oily but crunchy ball and then the salt kicks in after a 2nd belt.. then you take a mouthful of sweet soda and the sweetness and saltiness combine.. finally, whilst washing that down, the semi layered oil that's coated your mouth and adhered to the surface of your mouth is suddenly rewarmed from the burger as you bite through a soft bun and feel as your mouth closes, followed by condiments squishing out the sides, consisting of mayonaise, ketchup and tomato centres.. and feeling the crunch of the lettuce cheese and tomato combining again and again as you feed in some more fries and a sip of coke. now.. thumbs up.. who's hungry?
You did a great job. My only critique is maybe you could have gotten the grate closer to the fire? Seems like there should be more browning on the patty, more mallard reaction. Or maybe use some "grill grates" to get nice back grill marks. The burger looked baked or something. But it looked like you pulled it off a the right time, very juicy!!
Greg! Sweet! I hate beating a dead horse, but, I'm subscribed! The bell has the little notification lines! I only know of your videos because I look! RUclips is hurting your views!! You have one of the best BBQ channels, I actually make what you make. You claim to make instructional videos and you do. Others claim to but are all artsy fartsy with no real instruction. "Today we'll make beef Wellington!" 20 minutes later they're serving it up and all you saw was fruity cookware, weird camera pans, a story from a trip to Greece, and someone showing off their cut of meat. Lol! Keep bringing these copy cats! I love em! And I'll keep looking for your videos till I start getting notifications! 👍🏻

What about the sauce? Is it just mayo and ketchup?
zeikerd Yes, the whopper only has mayo and ketchup as the sauces
@@TetraSamurai is the mayo some kind of brand I can buy?
Acctually bottom bun goes, whopper patie, cheese, pickles, ketchup, onion you forgot the pattie and to be exact atleast were I make them it has 4 pickles 3 rings of ketchup and about 3 onion rings
zeikerd Yes, it’s called Heinz.

Greg I have to be honest with you. This looks 100x better than BK. You did it perfect. It looked like BK advertising. Awesome!!!
The whopper is just a great classic burger that has lasted for decades. Solid burger that doesn't try to do anything different but is very satisfying to eat.
Your attention to detail on grilling and your expertise on the types of woods. I'm hooked, cheers!!!
It’s the tomato and Mayo that makes a Whopper a Whopper. The tomato just does everything to the burger. There is no fancy tricks, just basically a garden salad on a burger with some mayonnaise.
Burger King wished their burgers looked this good - Nice job Ballistic BBQ!
We ALL wished BK's burgers looked this good!
no doubt! haha
yeah it looks epic, 10/10... better than the real thing
I don't know which Burger King you go to.
Who cares what it taste like right? Just make sure the lettuce is on some toasted bread, looking good, and you have a bk burger... 🙄
The whopper is my favorite burger and whenever I go to Burger King I get the Whopper meal with the Frozen Coke Icee. This is a great recipe. Man seeing people make the whopper is making me hungry lol
5:35 Mayo, but what kind of mayo? I read somewhere they use Miracle Whip. I tried and not exactly. The mayo on the whopper makes the sandwich IMO.
Always coming with solid BBQ videos and all around seem like an awesome genuine guy. Great content.

I love how simple but how professional this channel is, this channel is the definition of a barbecue
"That is a tasty burger"
WHAT?
DannoCrutch You mean the Royale with cheese?
No, he was talking about Le BigMac.
Big Kahuna Burger!!!
Say what again! I double dare you!
Great video Greg. Nice to see that you mentioned us in the land down under. Sweet. Have a good weekend.
4:21 So you held a burger patty with one hand and then salted it with a salt grinder. What type of wizardry is this?
LOL! It was a shaker, not a grinder. That would be a slick move though!
Hahaha, now I got it!
Keep up the good work man, looking forward to more of the traditional low and slow barbecue techniques that you have promised!
If you know how to hold the grinder you can do the twisty part with your fingers.
It was a military grade salt drone. You can't fool us, Greg!
Good luck on trying to turn it with your thumb and index, Grayfox... Way to much resistance for just 2 fingers.. :P
This was 5 years ago.
Amazing how far Greg has come since this
Great job buddy!!!
I enjoy your videos so much, whatever it is you're cooking that day :) You always seem to get a kick out of life and (more importantly) grilling up some awesome burgers. Cheers Greg!
One of the best copycat recipes I've seen. It even looks way better than the original. Well done!
nice burger Greg... I use these starters all the time. probably the only starter most European pitmasters use
The slice and even the thickness of theTomato is what makes the bks whopper burger classic.
I want to say thanks. I made your recipe today and it was an absolute hit in my house. We don't eat fast food however this is right on time. Great video and easy and really good! Thanks again
I would rather eat the whooper you made then the ones I used to eat. Good job man.

You wouldn’t happen to know what brand Mayo they use at BK? I’ve never gotten mine to task like theirs.
Same here. I did follow many videos but never got same taste. There is a secret recipe behind the sauce that bk spread on the buns, it’s not just Mayo and ketchup
I'm a big fan of the Whopper, it's one of my favorite burgers. It is simple in its construction, but those flavor combinations are good
we have " Hungry Jacks " here, which is the same as burger king there in the USA, the whopper is my favourite burger to get when I have a burger. that whopper copy cat looks fabulous Greg. can't beat a great burger.
This is great to do in lockdown

You're a well educated burger man knowing about Hungry Jacks ;) Great Vid and hello from Aus
That is a good looking Whopper. Thumbs up!
Love the little run up before you dive in
its good to see the basic burger...its fun to dabble with other twists but when its the end of the day we all love the americana...good on ya
I knew the "Burger King" would eventually do a "Burger King" burger, and it looks like the real deal! Wait, I forgot about that Black burger you did, it was a BK copy cat too wasn't it? Nice job Greg!
Just wanted to chime in and say that I'm glad I found your videos. Keep up the great work. From one hobby cook to another
Looks like a fun cook. You were spot on with the appearance!
cheers for the mention about Hungry Jacks in Australia Greg, shows you care about all viewers!

Making this plus white castle for dinner party tomorrow. Very excited.
Whoppers have always been my favorite fast food sandwich. Great looking burger sir!
Excellent job on that Whopper. I really like them. I make them at home often. Love those starter rolls
4:56 Now that's just beautiful.
That patty looked so damn good.
Hey Greg, What brand of bun do you use? You should make a video on making buns from scratch.
High five for the Hungry Jacks shout out! Fun fact, the reason it's not called Burger King here, is because we already had a burger store called Burger King that pre-dated Burger King (US).

i love the whopper. ive been having that burger since the 90s
Whoppers are my favorite. Nice work! =)
Worked at BK for about 10 years, and this is very correct. Very simple but good. :)
That beats any Burger King ad for a burger. And probably tastes better too. Burger King has great concepts, but this one is a winner. Great job man

Big Bufford from Rally's (Checkers) is a close second.....in my opinion that is.

that was my first job. use to make whoppers 10 seconds back in the 80s
I worked at BK from 1981-1982. Didn’t make a whopper in 10 secs, but I did make them 6 at a time during lunch rush!
keep up the great work you do on your channel I totally impressed my cousins visiting from the united states i used quality australian beef and they were amazing.

This looks way better than any whopper I've ever had! (I do prefer the "Mustard Whopper" without cheese though)
I don't think BK uses real cheese.
There is no way you can copy a whopper. Not unless you use wilted lettuce, soggy or green under ripe tomatoes and of course a beef patty with gristle.
itsmegp46 frozen beef paste if burger kings burgers thaw before they are cooked thats what they turn into
And don't forget the fake smoked flavoring that has a weird aftertaste!

itsmegp46 flame broiled goodness dude
S C they still flame broil it
Beautiful burger. Great video Greg!
That looks exactly like a commercial Whopper!!! Great Job with the aesthetics!!!
The Whopper especially the Double Whopper is by far the best burger of all chains, and I´ve tried them all
Do you know how much hotter you get the PBC with a totally open vent? What's your elevation to give an idea of how much you normally have the vent open. Great video!
Great job on that burger. You're right, it was great looking - simple stuff made well.
you are living the dream, brother!

Probably tastes a hell of a lot better than the real thing for sure.
I remember when whoppers used to be edible( they're not now) well done sir! Maybe BK can watch this and go back to they way they used to make them!
It's the initial taste that hooks you.

now.. thumbs up.. who's hungry?
id have liked to see how you made the patty. That is what i can't seem to get right. I always end up with puffy patties
A burger video definitely makes my Monday better.
wow! looks 5 times better then the adds! simple yet amazing!
Drooling for that Burge over here in the UK
looking delicious
i use similar wood fire starter for my charcoal
Best video on RUclips. Looking forward to making this on the grill.

I’m enjoying all these burgers lol!
In the beginning, I used to call the Whopper a salad burger because of all the lettuce
I’ve done a bit of research on layering burgers
That is. How are they put together
Ingredients in different layers makes a burger taste quite different
Thanks for these - I've replicated them. You're a good guy.
In Australia, after they cook the meat and bun. It's put in a steamer until they make the burger. Apart from that it's pretty much spot on
I'm just going to guess that the steamer is optional haha
Loving the beer implements into the videos!
what seasoning do you use to get Whopper flavor, or do the wood chips do that
That presentation is solid
Sub'd for the Australia reference, stayed for the awesome looking burger. Well played Ballistic BBQ.
Subscribed and liked. Greg, I saw those WoolyWood starters on another video. I imagine they could be cut in half to use on a Weber charcoal stater for savings. Burger looked great, I love burgers. I'll gladly pay you on Tuesday for a burger today (Wimpy)
