I spent so long debating and I bought the shark in January. I LOVE it. I have curly hair and the diffuser is epic but I can also get my hair perfectly straight when I feel like it. I’ve messed around with the curl attachments and the only thing I will say is I wish they were slightly narrower because they definitely drop (but from what I’ve seen- so do the Dyson) all in all I was dubious, but honestly I’m so happy I bought the shark instead of the Dyson. Oh and beware- their advertising is ruthless. Like I’ve bought it. I went in the website maybe twice six months ago and I still get it pushed at me. (Yea I know. Clean my cookies)

At our house or anyone else’s, the refrigerator-made ice tastes kinda wonky. I LOVE the clean, clear flavor of professional bag ice. I FEEL YOU on this!!! We use distilled water in our Opal ice maker and that makes such a difference. If you bought the dupe and used distilled water, I think it would absolutely would get rid of that "fridge ice" taste!

Carrie, I feel you on the love of ice cold drinks! It is totally an American thing, but I 100% agree cold drinks taste way better icy cold, including water!
I have that exact ice maker and here are a few thoughts to share for anyone who might be thinking of buying it: 1. The ice in the machine does melt. So it often sticks together and some pieces end up smaller/thinner especially at the bottom. 2.There is a sensor at the top that let's the machine know if it needs to make more ice. Because the ice melts it stacks up and blocks the sensor making the machine think the ice basket is full when it is actually only half full. So when you wake up in the morning you're only gonna get one glass full of ice.) 3. If you are more than 2 to a household this will not produce enough ice for you. Luckily it's just my husband and I who want ice but when we sit down to eat I find that it only fills two glasses. (This is if you constantly are adjusting the ice through out the day so that the sensor is not being covered.) 4. I find myself having to fill the water tank 1-2 times daily depending on how much we use it. Overall i still enjoy having this machine as we were buying bags of ice from the gas station weekly. But if you're looking to long term use and the ultimate bang for your buck then i would probably suggest spending money for the opal. Especially if you like the nugget/pebble form.
I have the a very similar machine and I love it! I run it for a few hours every like two weeks and fill out a few silicone bags and keep those on the freexzer. I kept forgetting to make the ice so having some ready in the freezer has been game charger

It hurts our teeth and gives us pain in our stomach 😃 And if we do use ice in summer it's max. 3 peaces in our glass and not a huge bucket of ice with a little coke in it. So much ice will make your drink so watery and tasteless i would think.

If you want PIPING hot coffee for hours and hours and hours you should get a yeti tumbler! I LOVE mine (10oz). I use it daily and it was only $20. It might just change your life!!!!

We have great tasting tap water in the Netherlands and can make ice cubes in a bag or covered tray, so it still tastes nice. But...we rarely use that much ice in a drink. Also, we don't carry iced drinks around. It's not really a thing.

As someone who has owned, not 1, not 2, but 3 of the "cheaper" ice machines, as well as now owning the opal ice maker...yes, the opal is expensive, but you can find it on sale for $450 a few times a year and after 4 years of owning 4 difference ice makers, it feels the most worth it. I got mine on super sale, which is still ridiculously over price. However, my other ice makers from amazon, the "cheaper ones" each lasted a year. Usually about a week after their warranty would end, they'd die. Plus, one of them, the most expensive that actually made nugget ice, was spitting out metal chunks when it started falling apart. So they money I spent on shitty, cheaper, ice makers could have just been saved and put towards the expensive one...

I have an LG ice maker and we just use brita filtered tap water . I also hate the fridge maker ice taste and the Brita definitely eliminates that.

Got my dad the same ice maker for his birthday he absolutely loves it and has to redo it multiple times a day. Note he eats the ice and will put them in ziploc bags in the freezer when it fills up then proceeds to make more. Also he uses filtered water with it
I think giving the coffee a little stir every so often would probably help keep it warmer longer
American here - GOTTA have the ice. I go to a specific pizza place just to get a cup of nugget ice!
