that's the way I found Earthside, Inthesilence, and Polyphia. Polyphia imo is pure magic. This has a nice sound, a little depressing in the rhythm but not so much I wanna switch songs. gonna give it a driving test😆

Hey guys! We just wanted to say thank you for all the great comments. even if we don't find the time to reply each and every one this really keeps us going and it really means a lot to us to get that much positive feedback! :) We are currently working on our 3rd full length album - head over to facebook and give us a like so you get all the newest information about the stuff going on with TDWA:) we would really love that! :) facebook.com/theirdogswereastronauts
+alex santana Hey! Great to hear that :) Feel free to make playthrough videos and stuff if you want - we really appreciate that ;) Unfortunately we have no tour or shows planned but we're working on it. But i also have to add that we are from Austria and we don't have the possibility to play huge international tours yet. but let's see what the future brings :)

Holy FUCK!!!!!! It's SO GOOD!!! Thank you guys so much for all the hard work you obviously put into this. I'm thoroughly enjoying this and I know I will for a long time to come. So glad I found you guys.
Came back this album after 6 months, Still some of the best groove based djent i've ever heard, Reminds me of Astraeus at times, which can only be a good thing.
Wow, this is a phenomenal album, this is the type of music that keeps the world going. I appreciate all of the hard work that went into this and I'll definitely keep a look out for future albums.
I have listened to this album so many times that I can't thank you enough. So much that when I look up even pervy anime on youtube this album is still in my recommended or autoplay list! It's what got me playing guitar again after 15 years of not doing so. Of all the instrumental prog metal in the vast world of the internet it has become THE standard for me. Ya, maybe cuz it's one of the first albums of this type I've listened to forever (I'm old) but OMG, seriously, thank you so much.
has some very nice taste of wide eyes, yet does not feel copied or imitated, more inspired without loosing the selfmade individual feel on it. Crazy stuff, really awesome.
I've only listened to the first two minutes of this vid and im already in love. Im now just waiting for you guys to take me to dinner so we can take next step toward getting these pants off.
Holy crap... Only listened to the first track so far, already hooked. I was really starting to get bored of my usual Animals as Leaders, Periphery, Dream Theater, Tesseract playlist... Just got a crap ton more variety thrown in! Love it.

I have good speakers right in my face much of the time where I work, and i just went through a TDWA marathon....everything on youtube I could find that you guys have done, and I have to say, Earthkeeper is the most amazing. Every song has such variety and emotion...it's your Rumours, your Moving Pictures, your Synchronicity, your Thriller, your Straight Outta Compton, your Jagged Little Pill. Please keep making this awesomeness.
Thanks so much man! That's such an honor to read this! :D We're really glad that you enjoy it! :D And of course, we will continue making TDWA music, I hope you'll enjoy the newer stuff too ;)
I feel ya man, seems like every new band is so unoriginal or just trying to fit in to the "djent" scene, it's nice to hear something unique, and this is definitely it. Keep it up TDWA you guys are incredible!
This is truly good. I've been jumping RUclips suggestions all day, and many an album seemed to me unoriginal and bland, but I have finally found what I didn't know I was missing. Thanks. This is cool.
Honestly I feel like anything above a 7 string is gimmicky and has very limited practical use. This album for example I'm quite sure could be played entirely on a 7 string, and bands like Within the Ruins achieve outstanding baritone music without the use of 8 string guitars. Now that isn't to say that the 8th string is completely obsolete. There are people like Tosin Obasi who create very unique pieces by utilising these instruments. Not many people can compete on his level, however, and thus a majority of music *like this very album* ends up sounding muddy with poor clarity (I think they're using EMG pickups) a lot of which could have been avoided I feel by using a 7 string.
@@connormcdermott1985 I'm 99% sure he plays a seven, and your entire statement regarding eights is entirely opinion based. You start to lose "practicality" when the neck becomes too big for the fretting hand. Most eights have a borderline flat or concave neck profile.
Man not sure what happened to a comment I thought I put up here before, but I only made my RUclips account to tell you how great I thought this is. At first I thought it was good, but the more I've listened to it the more I notice the intricate features you both put into your groove. You guys are mega tight, and I look forward to your next release. Top notch shit.
Mick McDonald Hey man! Thanks a lot! That really is an amazing feedback and means a lot to us! I read your comment when it was here first and I don't know what happened to it. Stay tuned, the new EP is coming in 2 days :)
Just stumbled across you guys. Had to listen to this whole album. Incredible dynamics. If there was just a bit more tech/mathy parts you could be untouchable!
your stuff is so phenomenal I just purchased all your music...very good indeed!!! I am enjoying Earthkeeper through a nice set of cans right now...If you ever come to the states, make sure you visit Michigan!!! I will be front and center there to enjoy it!!!
Thanks a lot man! We really appreciate that support. it's not usual that people buy so much of our stuff :) we definitely let you know if we come to the US, but nothings planned at the moment.
Yo this music is GOOD. Maybe it's because I've been up for two days straight and perspective is starting to get a little fuzzy but dis shiet is, regardless, GOOD.
Jesus...I'm so glad I found this band today on /r/progmetal. These guys F'ing shred! Reminds me a lot of Animals As Leaders...In a good way. New fan. Some of this gives me goosebumps.
The originality of some of the guitar riffs are just amazing. Like @ 7:00-8:00 is just awesome. I will agree with what 1 other person said that the drums sound a bit automated at times...but it almost doesn't even matter. I keep finding myself returning to listen to this

DAN Sounds Thanks man, that's brilliant. I'll check it all out next time I go to record, I may have to shamelessly use the effect ;) I'll also have a look at the play through soon to see how it's all done, sure. Thanks again!
I'll take a look around to see if I already have it or something similar in the software that I use and, if I can, I'll see what I can put together and I'll share it with you guys if you'd like? :) It won't be nearly as good as your stuff - just to warn you!
What would this genre be catagorized/ genres meshed would this kind of sound be categorized under? Major fan of this kind of jamming. Good shit. Very good shit

Really interesting music, great I stumbled upon you guys! Just out of curiosity: Did you record live drums or use a drum computer? I'm always interested in this, since I am a drummer and very often, Djent Bands programming their drums sound too polished and unauthentic to me, but in this Album, the drums do not sound overproduced.
This. Is. AMAZING! Im in a band that I really enjoy being in, and I would leave it to be in this one. You guys or girls, whatever, kill it! Straight up MURDER! haha. Its awesome tunes, THANK YOU for sharing your art and passion!
I've never gotten around to leave you guys a comment. this album has seriously pulled me thru some shit I always come out the other side feeling better

that's the way I found Earthside, Inthesilence, and Polyphia.

I don't always post comments on youtube, but when I do, it's for kickass music like this!
I keep coming back to this place ever now so often
Came here thinking this was a parody of the post-rock band "God Is An Astronaut". Instead, I am a fan of both bands now.
Same here :D

PeterNewmanXIII This is way better than Periphery/Tesseract. It isnt being held back by whiny vocals.
Rob Greene ...Sure, lets just detract from their incredible compositional skills because they chose tenors for their lineup...

Oh My FUCKING GOD ! Damn it , just had an EARGASM !!
Simo Mansouri Oh man! Thank you SO much!!!!
Great album guys.Keep going and mostly stay creative !!!
Hey, love this so much! Can I ask what effect is being used at the start of the Earthkeeper song? It's really cool guys
Ben L-B Thanks a lot man! :)
It's a simple tremolo effect, which you can do it in almost all amp simulation software. This tone in particular was done in Guitar Rig 5 while most of the other songs on the album are done with Positive Grid BIAS. But for the new EP we used the axe fx II.
The riff itself is extremely simple - it's nothing more than playing the lowest open string (which is G# in that song) and to get this bending effect you tap with your finger on the screw of the bridge pickup.
Most of the effects in this song are done tapping the strings on or between the pickups - just play around and you'll figure out how it works. It depends on the guitar though.
You can watch the playthrough video to see how I do it :)
here it is: ruclips.net/video/jsNDttAr1To/видео.html
Hope that helps ;)
DAN Sounds Thanks man, that's brilliant. I'll check it all out next time I go to record, I may have to shamelessly use the effect ;) I'll also have a look at the play through soon to see how it's all done, sure.

No problem :)
I would love to see/hear that effect used in another context :)
I'll take a look around to see if I already have it or something similar in the software that I use and, if I can, I'll see what I can put together and I'll share it with you guys if you'd like? :) It won't be nearly as good as your stuff - just to warn you!
