Red Lobster could never compete with the local seafood restaurants in my area. Every so often they'd try to open a location here. It would last 3 months then close.
Only had red lobster once, they over cooked the lobster and it had a sticker cooked onto it… funny part is I use to work for Darden(the original owner who also owns Olive Garden and a few others) so I assumed they would be good. I went after they were bought by new owners and it was TRASH. Once was enough lmao
Funny you should say that about olive garden. Anyone that thinks OG makes good Italian food is not Italian.

The company knew what they were doing at least the people who got the money knew exactly they took the money and ran.
It's suppose to be a American ran Seafood restaurant not a Taiwan egg rolls and noodles ran restaurant. That's why it's failing
From what I have gathered watching those "restaurant chains we no longer have' sort of youtube content, the purchase of any company by any form of equity company is certain death

30 years ago, after seeing commercial after commercial, we drove to a neighboring state's Red Lobsta. The menu looked just like on tv!
The food was 3-4 shades off from the menu. The food was ok but, we never went again. Wasn't even real butter.
We go fairly regularly. We're a Red Lobster family. If that was 20 years ago, maybe you should give them a try again. Just the biscuits are worth the trip to us and we also like the rest of the food too.

Went to a Red Lobster once. The service was poor and the food was cold to about room temperature. It was just disgusting and never went back.
I got food poisoning at one years ago. The one in one county had a good one but I went to one that wasn’t so good. I had to play a show and sat down and threw up several times while playing my guitar. I made it but never went back to that one.
Darden used to own red lobster along with Olive Garden, Smokey bones like 5 others. I worked for Mclane distribution who provided their product when Darden restaurants sold it and you are 100% correct. It was sold and immediately let it fail. No they should not get bankrupt.
From someone that lives in New England with easy access to fresh seafood. Red Lobster is considered the McDonald's of the seafood world.
Never had them since i have never eaten at red lobster.
I guess it’s costing the state of Main too much money shipping seafood all over the east coast and paying up to two years of free rent for ‘illegal migrants’.🤷🏼

Don’t forget the whole endless shrimp,who didn’t see that being a bad idea. That idea drove their shrimp prices and supplies up.
Im 66 years old and they had this shrimp deal since I was a kid. Why does it suddenly now bankrupt them? This one nvestent company intentionally did it. They need to pay!
@@billlyell8322 The shrimp deal is hitting them hard now because of inflation and supply and demand but they also dropped the ball when they sold the land and started renting that’s the opposite of what you want to do which proves somebody with money and no idea what they’re doing ended up destroying the company.
@johnhardwick5406 you can't sell the property your business sits on then rent it as an additional expense and not expect it to be a disaster. That's just either totally stupid action or intentional sabotage.
They took the buttery goodness out of the biscuits long ago.
I remember being child and wanting to go there and never did. Fast-forward to me being an adult and now every start of the new year me and my mother go there on our birthday's since our birthday's are five days apart.

The last time I ate at Red Lobster it was crap. I ordered the Twin tail with a salad and broccoli. The lobster was chewy and rubbery, the broccoli was bland and undercooked, the salad had cheese on it which I don't care for, but at least the Pepsi was good. It's the first time I've never finished my broccoli. I'm glad they're getting shut down.
They call it a "Florida-based company", but I believe it's owned by a Thai corporation.
There actually a few Red Lobster in Thailand like in Bangkok but still, they knew what they were doing and ruined our Cheddar Bay Biscuits

The cheddar biscuits were the best with a surf and turf back in the day. Now it just sux.

You had to start it about the cheddar biscuits. That and shrimp scampi it will be missed.
Because the rich leaders/owners don't care about the sustainability of the business. they know they can just do this to another business when this is over and the only ones affected are the workers and society.

Someone will come along and buy it up then sell it again in 2 years. This is common for red lobster. Buy then make a little profit then sell.

Anyone talking smack about Red Lobster has never eaten there before. The Cheddar Bay Biscuits are S+ Tier and pretty much everything on their menu is tasty. And don't even get me started on their "endless" events. Anyone with a functional brain knows that Red Lobster slapped HARD from the 90s into the 2000s. RIP you were once a national treasure.

@@diggity1039 lol I haven't eaten there in like 15 years so I can't comment on current Red Lobster but all of my experiences with them have been positive. Keep in mind, I'm classifying them in the category of "trashy but kind of wholesome family restaurants" so they're competing with other restaurants like Applebee's, Chili's, Outback, Olive Garden, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc. and I'd choose Red Lobster over a lot of those.
