I think the late 90s was the best time for BMX. BMX was thought of as just fad of the 80s and it seemed that way since it was nearly dead by 1989. but after 1995 there was a BMX renaissance. This could have been due to the rapid technological development of the mountain bike during the 90s which brought attention to all bikes in general. This along with the X Games brought on a resurging popularity of BMX. The point I was trying to make is that it seems that today you don't really have BMX bikes in the mid range that are all that great. You just have high end or cheap stuff now. Back in the late 90s a mid quality bike would have a full cromoly or aluminum alloy frame but have a one piece crank and three piece cranks were on higher end bikes. You are better off putting a one piece crank on a better quality frame than a cheap frame with a three piece just to make it look good.
So according to this list a Haro Boulevard 2016 would not be a terrible pick for a beginning bike, In Medium: Integrated Head tube 3pc Chromoly cranks. Sealed Mid BB Sealed 9T Cassette Hub in Low: Hi Tensile Steel Frame Single Wall Rims From what I've read and seen and heard it's more or less not bad for a starter and with a relatively affordable price (£250) It's not too bad in my opinion. Anyone have any thoughts or comments on that? Preferably constructive ones.
Haros arent horrible bikes, I started off on one personally. A tensile frame may be an issue, however its not actually a huge deal to replace, and if you can get a bike with some solid pieces (chromoly cranks, decent hub) it will work as a starting point, however if you want to be riding for a long time, its probably a good idea to look a bit more upmarket.
Whats a good starter bike for around 350$-450$ im looking for decent enough quality for beginners and mostly chromoly. Im 13 and 5'10 almost 6' soon so
my bike is custom i built it out of different used parts, it has crmo forks bars and a crmo front triangle eastern frame with 48 spoke double wall wheels, sealed hubs headset and bb, with 48 spline cranks and a bashgaurd sprocket. it weighs 35 pounds but its and absolute tank and i love it
Hello quick question wondering if I can change out my complete frame for another frame online, thinking about changing my kink liberty frame for a cult crew frame thanks
I know a shit ton more now than I used to know. The only thing you left out was the different styles of spokes and if it matters for strength? Are the plastic pedals as good as the aluminum ones? Do those metal discs that protect the hub and spokes, does that come as part of the frame?
+Shaun Kelly All though you & I know what that stuff is, they are not "common" things you see in sale descriptions. I left little stuff like that out to try and not confuse parents or beginners. We plan to have more videos soon that should help...Thank you so much for your feedback! - To answer your questions: Types of spokes are not a big deal. The backbone of any strong BMX wheel is a quality rim and proper truing regardless of what spokes you have.. With pedals it's more of a preference. I personally ride plastic after riding metal for a long time and they are similar in reliability. If you grind a lot a plastic pedal can wear down really quick though.. Metal is heavier and can knock your shins harder so it really preference... Those disks that protect hubs are called grind guards. They are not part of frames but they are sold and installed for hubs.. They slide over the axle or install onto the hub. We have a video that can give you a general idea of a plastic grind guard called "Merritt Tension BMX Hub Guard".
So i'm a about to buy a new bike , its got a front cromo triangle , fully sealed , cromo 3 piece cranks , cromo sprocket, single wall rime and hi tensil steel bars ect
Not bad... Glad you are getting a bike! Just be careful grinding really hard on that frame if you do. Chromoly front triangle frames don't hold up to much street abuse but other than that they are perfect if you don't want to spend a ton of money for a bike.
+Mitya bozhko There are a ton of choices. Between all the high end bikes the ones that are most expensive are kind of gimmicks. Don't get me wrong, they are some of the best bikes out there, but their jacked up prices are because they offer the most popular/expensive parts like custom bikes.. If you don't know exactly what you want in a bike than a $1000 bike is a waste. You can pick a bike like the Kink Whip or Mongoose R120 and have a legitimate high end spec bike but with out the exclusive name brand parts which jack the price up.
Hi guys, Im thinking of buying my first ever bmx bike and i was wondering if this is good for a beginner: 3 piece tubular chromoly crank 25/9 gearing with cassette rear hub Double wall alloy rims with 2.25" Grey wall tyres Intergrated seat and seatpost Chromoly rear axle Sealed bottom bracket Thanks :)
my bikes custom, but i have a full crmo frame hi ten bars, not sure if my forks are hi ten but my bars are cracked slightly in the stem 3pc 8 spline cranks double wall rims, sealed freecoaster, female front hub
+Edward Fogaty It's a pretty good bike to start with but the deal with the price is a hard choice. You can choose the Sunday Scout which is a well made bike or save up just a tiny bit more and get a full Chromoly Kink Whip.
+left behind No not at all. You can start at any age. The last video we just uploaded is from an event that salutes the older riders who still get into it no matter what age.
my bike weighs about 23.3 pounds with a coaster and chromo pegs took me a few years but I finally got most the parts I want little or no cost used the way to get used parts cheap is to know the part inside and out before I got my bike I read ever form and page on bmx by the time I was done I could I'd a frame by b the geo and drop out size (this kept me and many other people from getting ripped off) so best piece of advise know your stuff
Oh Yea. Good advice! this is kind of my philosophy on the channel. I want to teach people stuff like that to save them time and money... So these people can stay having fun and not give up on the sport.. Bmx bikes are so much harder to aquire than skateboards. Thanks for sharing that my friend!

i'm a 25 year old male wanting to buy a bmx bike for the first time. i'm also 6'1 and ~250 lbs, what type of bmx should i get? i've looked on amazon and other online websites, but it seems as if most of the bmx bikes that are offered are for kids or unusable by me.
+Alejandro4891 Try looking into these sites: Https://www.danscomp.com Https://www.albes.com Https://www.chainreactioncycles.com I suggest a full Chromoly set up. But the size bike I recommend is at least a 21" Top Tube (TT). I am the same height as you and I ride a 21. The reason why I suggest spending the extra money for a full Chromoly is because non full chromoly set ups are more for teenage beginners.. At 25 fully grown I recommend full chromoly. It will last longer.
+great lil cesar Building a bike is really fun. But can he pricey. Really you should just start by getting a frame. From there you can get other parts to put on it. These are my personal suggestions of what to generally buy together: *Frame & Bottom Bracket bearings. *Forks, headset bearings. *Stem & Handlebars. *Crank, Pedals & Chain *wheels seat & seatpost.
I'm looking to get a Hutch Venom tmrw it's 100% fully chromoly it's on sale. Then I also seen a Fiend type o 2017 same price but it would be a "medium" I guess. Should I get the Hutch? Just after watching this seems better to get a full chromo bike

+Josh Williams I did. I'm sory. I'm all about answering everyone's questions. the comment section started blowing up yesterday after I told you I would get back to you.
+Josh Williams The Fit Benny Sig is a top model bike. Has all the new style parts on it and is about the closest thing you can get to a custom build bike. once I get home to my tablet I will see what other bikes are worth it in that price range..
Hey, I’m looking for a bike... I just want to start bmx, and am willing to spend 300-500 dollars, but like always, the cheaper the better (well most of the time)... I weigh about 80-90 pounds and am about 4’10-11. I’m in middle school, so I would be growing really quickly. Any size to recommend?
Grizz-Lee I got the moongoose legion l100 and is below $280 or $300 depending on the color but it has the specs you find on higher end bikes (who cares about the Walmart jokes those bikes are for lil kids learning how to ride)
+The BNC (Bmx News Channel) what after market parts do you recommend (pegs, seat, grip, tires) and can you name a certain one of each I'm trying to get a full setup I don't want plastic casing pegs
A Cassette is the traditional hub & a Freecoaster is a currently popular style hub.. A Freecoaster lets you roll backwards with out having to pedal backwards via a clutch.. They are more expensive to fix and replace.. They are personal preference. Both styles give different trick advantages.
+The BNC (Bmx News Channel) I'm mostly going to be doing grinds and big gaps in my town I have a a Haro back trail x24 that I ride now I can jump some gaps but it's way to big and heavy for me to bunnyhop
+Razorneck You should choose a bike with at least a 21.5" top tube. You can also get a 24" wheel BMX bike. Taller riders get them because they can fit better and still feel like a traditional BMX bike.
+Connor Helbing The 2016 United Martinez Expert is a lot better than the 2016 Tiro XL. The United Martinez comes with a full chromoly frame so hands down that bike is better than the Hi-tensile Tiro.
+Connor Helbing Used bikes come is a very wide range of prices. Depends on the condition mostly. A clean bike with no scratches can run a little off of new but a heavily used and grinded bike can run for $50 no matter how expensive it originally was. All most new I would guess a few hundred, heavily used you could get one for $100 or 2.
+The BNC (Bmx News Channel) ok i have a subrosa tiro should i get the frame for it(upgrade it) or should i get the other bike with no upgrades and it would cost used 250?

+Ivo Brbre Great choice. That is good price to be honest... You can't beat a "high range" set up for less than 500. There are not many. Most bikes with the same credentials go for a higher price.

I need help badly...I'm not to bothered about bike specs, along as it can survive highish drops (for example going of high surfaces to low or bunny hops) and not get damaged then I'm good with it, I need a bike that has a coloured chrome frame, Preferably a rainbow color chrome frame or green chrome, what would be the cheapest I could get a bike like this for?

You are better off putting a one piece crank on a better quality frame than a cheap frame with a three piece just to make it look good.
free coaster and cassette is a personal choice
and when you have a free coaster you have about a 1/4th crank of slack so don't try to romp on it or you will hit your knees
and a free coaster needs more maintenance
We mentioned that it is a personal choice... Its just over there on that side of the list in the picture
So according to this list a Haro Boulevard 2016 would not be a terrible pick for a beginning bike,
In Medium:
Integrated Head tube
3pc Chromoly cranks.
Sealed Mid BB
Sealed 9T Cassette Hub
in Low:
Hi Tensile Steel Frame
Single Wall Rims
From what I've read and seen and heard it's more or less not bad for a starter and with a relatively affordable price (£250) It's not too bad in my opinion.
I'm 35 years old , can I ride ?
+Mady Mohsen That's what is awesome about bmx... Anyone can start at any age and everyone accepts it!
The BNC (Bmx News Channel) thanks man 🙏🏼

Hello quick question wondering if I can change out my complete frame for another frame online, thinking about changing my kink liberty frame for a cult crew frame thanks
Damn, just bought me a hi ten steel bike because I never knew it would be weak. Does this mean I basically can’t try any tricks at all?
Watch other videos I have heard you can do little beginner tricks like 180s and stuff like that
I know a shit ton more now than I used to know.
- To answer your questions:
Types of spokes are not a big deal.
I have a 2016 Sunday am in the black color is it good?
Yes
I’m 5/7” 38 yrs old and I ride a Radio Astron. Paid 500$ for it.
thanks for making this video it really helped me!! :)
+TB BMX That's awesome! Thank you 👍
Is a Sunday blueprint a good starter bike?
Thanks
Nadim Selesnick Yes
Nadim Selesnick perfect starter
Well i have from the low price standard headtube and 1pc cranks.200€ and a bit heavy.if you upgrade it a bit its going to be good
I've bent hi-ten rear tri before and it was just a hard angled landing. It didn't even screw the wheel up.
Thanks! I almost bought a terrible bike
Do you think a 2017 fiend embryo type o would be good for a beginner?
Which complete setup should I chose if I need high.
What would be a good $300-$400 bike? And is that a good price for a good bike?
+Its Flyt Yes that's about the start price for a good medium bike. The 2016 Kink whip is a really good buy for just over 400.
Thank you!
What about the We the people curse I could get it on sale for 325 on Dans Comp (Also is that a real website) Please respond because I might buy it!
Hi guys, Im thinking of buying my first ever bmx bike and i was wondering if this is good for a beginner:
3 piece tubular chromoly crank
25/9 gearing with cassette rear hub
Double wall alloy rims with 2.25" Grey wall tyres
Intergrated seat and seatpost
Chromoly rear axle
Sealed bottom bracket
Thanks :)
What's light for a bmx?
+Explore With Me Most bikes that are considered light are in the 23lb-25lb range.
The BNC (Bmx News Channel) thanks
Yo Me mines 27 lbs (Benny sig)
Yo Me 24 lbs 14 ounces Sean sexton signature kink liberty 2016
Sweet! Mines 19lbs
my bikes custom, but i have a
full crmo frame
hi ten bars, not sure if my forks are hi ten but my bars are cracked slightly in the stem
3pc 8 spline cranks
double wall rims, sealed freecoaster, female front hub
I own a fly teirra 3 a eastern traildigger and an Eastern grim reaper love them all but like my fly the best it feels great sitting at 19 pounds
Is a sunday scout a good bike?
+Edward Fogaty It's a pretty good bike to start with but the deal with the price is a hard choice. You can choose the Sunday Scout which is a well made bike or save up just a tiny bit more and get a full Chromoly Kink Whip.
So the cassette hub ? Is that a hub that will pedal backwards and do you need a hand brake with that?
+Robert Cheney Yes a cassette hub will free wheel pedal backwards. There is no brake built into cassette hubs.
awesome video bro now I know what to look for on a bike 😎👍
im 25 and have rode downhill mtb for some years but was interested in getting into bmx am i too old just to be starting out
+left behind No not at all. You can start at any age. The last video we just uploaded is from an event that salutes the older riders who still get into it no matter what age.
I’m 5,2 please tell me what bike I should get I’ve never rode a Benz before
I am looking at a norco brigade it’s not cromoly I don’t think so you think it’s good
my bike weighs about 23.3 pounds with a coaster and chromo pegs took me a few years but I finally got most the parts I want little or no cost used the way to get used parts cheap is to know the part inside and out before I got my bike I read ever form and page on bmx by the time I was done I could I'd a frame by b the geo and drop out size (this kept me and many other people from getting ripped off) so best piece of advise know your stuff
Oh Yea. Good advice! this is kind of my philosophy on the channel. I want to teach people stuff like that to save them time and money... So these people can stay having fun and not give up on the sport.. Bmx bikes are so much harder to aquire than skateboards. Thanks for sharing that my friend!
Is the 2016 ACADEMY DESIRE 20" COMPLETE BIKE a good bike for intense Pokemon Go and dirt riding?
+Edward Tutor It will help you slay Pokémon GO! Lol. It will hold up some big dirt riding too.
I’m new to BMX for the purpose of flatland practice, also my head toe height 5’6” and a Leg length 2’6”, may I have a recommended list of bikes. thanks.
u are not the only bmx chanal
+Patrick Connolly We didn't say we are the only bmx channel... We said we are the one and only named "freestyle Bmx News Channel" on RUclips and we are actually correct about that.
ok sty u are right
❤Thank you for the information
I have a verde eon its hi ten steel but every thing else is on the medium list
+Carson Boyd I started on verde Eon. Not a bad bike.. I'm about to release a video explaining how just the first bike you buy is a complete ajd how you can utilize the best parts off of it to build a better custom bike! 👍
Is 20 SUNDAY BLUEPRINT 20.5 BLACK good enough for medium quality ? plss reply me ! Hi-Ten Integrated Headtube. Semi-Sealed 9T. Forward- Low-Flange Looseball 36H
what do you think about the SE Bikes Everyday or Hoodrich as a beginner bmx?
i'm a 25 year old male wanting to buy a bmx bike for the first time. i'm also 6'1 and ~250 lbs, what type of bmx should i get? i've looked on amazon and other online websites, but it seems as if most of the bmx bikes that are offered are for kids or unusable by me.
+Alejandro4891 Try looking into these sites:
I suggest a full Chromoly set up.
+Alejandro4891 Also you are tall like me, so taller rise handlebars would feel more comfortable for you. At least 8.5" rise bars and higher.
Where can I buy bmx bikes online?
can you tell me what parts to buy first then last pleas i whant to start to bmx but i dont know where to start i whould appreciate you replying thnx!
+great lil cesar Building a bike is really fun. But can he pricey. Really you should just start by getting a frame. From there you can get other parts to put on it. These are my personal suggestions of what to generally buy together:
*Frame & Bottom Bracket bearings.
*Forks, headset bearings.
*Stem & Handlebars.
*Crank, Pedals & Chain
*wheels seat & seatpost.
+The BNC (Bmx News Channel) thanks dude
I'm looking to get a Hutch Venom tmrw it's 100% fully chromoly it's on sale. Then I also seen a Fiend type o 2017 same price but it would be a "medium" I guess. Should I get the Hutch? Just after watching this seems better to get a full chromo bike
This might be a little late but is the Benny 3 by fitbikeco a good high bike or what's better for around the same price thanks and love this channel bro
Sorry I ment the Benny sig
+Josh Williams Thanks man I really appreciate it. I'm just finishing my shift at work. I will reply to your answer really soon! Really appreciate the good words!
Idk if your forgot or what but thanks
Grizz-Lee I ride a 21 tt at 5’10 208lbs feels nice and I bet it’s large enough for your growth spurts
I got a kink stryker I just do a few jumps and hops on it is that in the high category
What would my bike be it has a chromoly front triangle full chromoly bars and forks and all fullysealed bearings
I'm a skateboarder and I just want something light and cheap to get places faster than skating... would a low end bike be acceptable?
Unll2eaL li if it's just to ride around and not doing tricks then just get like a Walmart bike...
Is the se everyday good?
Hey hat would be a good bike for 400$ or less maybe 425$ I'm looking for a good lasting bike that will be good for street
Something like the whip I'm 5'5 125lb I was also looking at the cult gateway I'm going 2 be buying off dans comp
+The BNC (Bmx News Channel) what after market parts do you recommend (pegs, seat, grip, tires) and can you name a certain one of each I'm trying to get a full setup I don't want plastic casing pegs
+The BNC (Bmx News Channel) and what's the difference vetween casette and free coaster
I'm trying to get back into bmx... I'm 6'4 so is there a recommendation on what I could get?
+Razorneck You should choose a bike with at least a 21.5" top tube. You can also get a 24" wheel BMX bike. Taller riders get them because they can fit better and still feel like a traditional BMX bike.
which one is better without any upgrades? the subrosa tiro 2016 or the United Martinez expert 2016 ?
+Connor Helbing The 2016 United Martinez Expert is a lot better than the 2016 Tiro XL. The United Martinez comes with a full chromoly frame so hands down that bike is better than the Hi-tensile Tiro.
+The BNC (Bmx News Channel) how much do they usually run for used?
+Connor Helbing Used bikes come is a very wide range of prices. Depends on the condition mostly. A clean bike with no scratches can run a little off of new but a heavily used and grinded bike can run for $50 no matter how expensive it originally was. All most new I would guess a few hundred, heavily used you could get one for $100 or 2.
+The BNC (Bmx News Channel) ok i have a subrosa tiro should i get the frame for it(upgrade it) or should i get the other bike with no upgrades and it would cost used 250?
+Connor Helbing other bike aka martinez expert
Hi I'm 5'4 just a kid in 6th grade just starting Bmx. They say either : Sunday Primer or a WTP Curse is good for starters like me but I want one bike that u could ride on the streets. I am from Las Vegas BTW👍 Please help anyone
Any suggestions on what could molted I should get? I'm a beginner and I stand at 5'11
Please help which should I choose. Wethepeople Trust Cassette version or Stranger Crux
I wanna get into bmx and in trying to find a starter bike do you think that a we the people nova is a good choice and if not what are some recommendations I'm lost here
Zilla I'm in the same position and I'm thinking of a moongoose title pro xl in I'm 5'11
if you want a wethepeople get the crs or curse its better nova is like someone that justs want a bmx and not doing tailwhips or flairs but the nova can still do some tricks
I'm going to buy a BMX (FLYBIKES PROTON 2016) And it has all of the high quality parts, but I was wondering if 425 euro is a good price for such a bike.
+Ivo Brbre Great choice. That is good price to be honest... You can't beat a "high range" set up for less than 500. There are not many. Most bikes with the same credentials go for a higher price.
Thanks a lot for the fast response you are the best ! :D
Would the mongoose legion l100 be good?
whats a good starter bike
Yo! Very nice and informative video! I've couple of questions if you don't mind me asking. Is Stolen Sinner 2015 for 500 euros still a good choice? Do you have any other suggestions for bikes in that price level?
i have a haro bmx and the backwheel is out of form how do i ficks this and prevent it from happening?
srry for bad english
+nolife get one Your English is just fine 👍 It is dangerous to ride on a bad wheel. We have a video explaining how to fix it but if you are not sure about it, take it to a professional. > ruclips.net/video/44WAgKCg29Y/видео.html
thanks!
use a truing key to make the wheel straight
48spline 2pc or a 3pc with the bigger splines?
I need help badly...I'm not to bothered about bike specs, along as it can survive highish drops (for example going of high surfaces to low or bunny hops) and not get damaged then I'm good with it, I need a bike that has a coloured chrome frame, Preferably a rainbow color chrome frame or green chrome, what would be the cheapest I could get a bike like this for?
Hey man my bike is full hi tensil steel but the most important parts are integrated headset, mid bottom bracket seal bearings, and rear seal Casset hub but front unsealed hub is my bike on a medium strength bike. I pay less than $300?
Thanks
is a stolen casino bike good i might get the blue lagoon one
