easily one of the greatest bands to never make it big. I discover teh RED SHIFT in 98 and it changed my life forever! I went to see Reign of Fire just to hear her voice and bought Titan A.E. to hear Karma Slave!

I'd wager the protoganist went through some breakup with a cheating partner , and so she tries to boost herself that she is OK on her own as she is the mayan pilot and she don't need no aero plain. I think this explanation checks out most of the metaphors in the lyrics and the direct phrasing of "spent the midnight cursing your lover's name " or "a lot of precious things to have your simple power" meaning the power to move on..
