It's the subtlety of the bass and the simplistic nature of the songs the elevates Interpol above the "rock" genre, that and the immensely poetic lyrics that don't give you that synthetic feel other "rock" lyrics...ya know like the " ooooooh y-y-y-yeah, I---- know (bla bla bla)" those words are trite, vexing, and have turned rock into something bland and vomit inducing, honestly Interpol is fresh, still, and discernable amongst all that bullshit
@carlo88moe Obviously I listen to other music too... hence why I'm at an interpol page. I'm just saying its douchey to say that interpol is "above" rock music... if there was no rock music, there would be no interpol. Simple as that.
you place all of those bass (although great talent)players in line and only carlos d. has that iconic prescence that most bass players just dont have. another awesome bass player is twiggy ramirez.
@ALXgreatlord i think its one of teir bests, but i could think of SONG SEVEN, THE SPECIALIST, WRECKING BALL, so, they are one of the best groups of all times.
what are they playing in a oven but you know what, this has to be the best live concert of theirs on youtube ,probably because its all 'bright lights' songs
actually the bass line isn't all that complicated compared to, say, obstacle 1 but its still very haunting. and i've got to agree this is a beautiful song.
I am proud to say I can bang this on my bass... after 2+ hours of pure concentration and emotion... Much respect to Carlos D., you inspire me to keep exploring my bass!!
The moment the guitar really kicks in at 3.11 always gives me chills when I listen to it.One of the most underrated and overlooked songs of Turn On The Bright Lights.
This and Specialist are probably the most thoroughly well-done Interpol songs . . .
Damn, Carlos owns in this song. You can tell he's really feelin it.
I love the second part where it really gets heavy.
interpol is so far above all the other bands out there
carlos is getting so into it, it's hard to believe he doesn't even like the bass.
i think if this song had a longer introduction and an extended drum solo, this song will be ranked as a classic in the years to come.
The song always makes me feel better.
Interpol always makes me happy when I'm down
the bass is the best of the song no doubt
"Just lose it" at 3.13 onwards, Love this song. . . such great energy. . . . .

@brisenyo Yeah, Paul has said a lot that The Pixies are a huge influence for them.
Fuck, The Pixies are amazing

I think 5 people thought they were looking allright tonight.....but I think they should just GO
wow, i had no idea you actually have to detune the b string when you play this
es (junto con a time to be so small) mis canciones preferidas, y cirtos tienes razon,
Fuck to ANY Interpol.....
Nice space you end up in...awesome.
no, they are second to The Strokes, but following close though
a master piece, yes. but not the only one from them indeed.
Paul is so hot. I mean, really, look at all that sweat...
i wanna get exactly the same sound of the bass...! fuck
also paul's voice is very similar to ian curtis'voice

Geil....einfach nur Geil....

The transition this song goes through is perfection, beat only by Specialist.
If anyone has not seen it. The version of this song that they performed on some radio station is probably 100 times better than this version.
"one day we'll live together and life will be better" ... wow ...
Awesome, want a higher quality video of this performance though!
This song is a classic, in my opinion.
No other band could make two guitar strings sound so good
This song makes me weep sweet tears of ecstasy : )
the drum hook at the end 4:18.....is beautiful
de las mejores canciones de interpol a mi parecer..
drums 10
bass 10
guit 11
vocals 10
What a great song.
heck yes I love the melody close to the end
its like vibrant and explosive
