Have you guys considered using an actual drifter? We have one of the best in the world locally available, have a google for James Deane.
Ironically, as with many circuits, Llandow does not allow or welcome drifting in any way.
No we wanted Ben as he is a boss/a friend and is a stunt driver so does it all. He also isn’t an “influencer” which we are trying to avoid 🤣🤣.
No the circuit doesn’t lend itself to it at all, but it was available and didn’t break the bank. 👍🏻
He might be a great driver but his real talent seems to be teaching. Love his enthusiasm when you were beginning to get it.
We are good friends which makes it easier, but he is a boss at it! 👍🏻👌🏻

It couldn't get better than this having the privilege of being taught by Ben Collins an absolute legend behind the wheel. He clearly shows that's not easy with everything shut down, the M2 CS is more handful than I thought. An absolutely masterpiece 👌

Great videos. RUclips needs more of these normal dudes busting their asses trying to get it right, rather than Chriss Harris sending it sideways from corner to corner talking about how easy it is to slide an M car.
I agree,sliding a car on a track without teaching the masses is immature at best and pointless ,Chris Harris would do better by watching this video in my opinion

the best trick - provoking a big initial pendulum to switch drift direction - is missing from my pov. i would recommend a very fast and abrupt throttle lifting at the end of the drift to perfectly switch the car to the next drift (to the other direction) with big initial angle. once you've got that feeling, everything sideways is possible :-)

Awesome, best drifting video I’ve seen! The key really is to keep feeding in the power, the M2 wants to snap back to straight if you don’t keep the wheels spinning. It took me the better part of a weekend to get it all put together where I started to really feel like the car was doing what I wanted instead of me reacting. Dry track and Super Sports took a while to get the hang of.

Great tutorial! This is the exact problem i have with my e92 m3 as it has michelin ps4’s on. Its psychologically hard to put more power in after the initial slide!

Brilliant vid learnt something as I’m picking up a M2 in a few weeks, my 1st rwd car so I’m think I’ll book some trackday and drift tutoring now .
It does go through tyres quick!! Get the track days under you belt first then go from there, find the limit. Which I am sure you saw happens very quickly and abruptly. Go steady and enjoy it! 👍🏻👍🏻
Brilliant vid indeed, I have to agree! I've owned my M2 since back in May 2017, a car I'm for sure holding onto it's incredibly agile and you'll feel like you are in 100% control of your vehicle, which is epic. Booking a drift tutor on a track is a great and fun idea, however to get the hold off drifting in your M2 you won't need a track necessarily. It's such an easy car to just drift around town, calm back roads, parking lots! Start light and pick up the pace along with confidence! That's how I went about it anyways.

At 19:50 you can see where Ben has his eyes in the right place but the driver is just looking straight thru the windshield.... The eyes are key for drifting.
I did three laps of Oulton Park drifting with one of the stigs it wA fantastic watching him throw the car around a Nissan

That was such a great video to watch!! Loved every second of it. What drive logic setting were you using? Efficient, comfort, comfort? Also were you using the second or third max shifting sensitivity?

Yes due to the weather the more sporty modes were too spikey, and the gears were on the 3rd max setting. 👍🏻
Drifting is the purest form of driving, and It doesn't have to be rwd, it can be 4wd, long as its 600bhp plus with a diff bias 75% on the rear!

That scrubbing are little hops because the car is sliding sideways and looks for traction and there is no absorption sideways.
maybe a longer wheel base would have helped you a bit at this kind of scenario

Great video but who would go out and buy a BMW M2CS to trash it on a track ? 😂 tyres are expensive to replace and so too is the drive train . So please can I borrow your car ? 😂😂
Comfort won't change the handling, it's just for the heaviness of the steering.
There are settings for the dampers, power train and steering in an M2 CS. Comfort, sport and sport +. So comfort on the adaptive dampers does change the handling. 👍🏻👍🏻 normal M2 comp doesn’t have adaptive dampers.
Those who can even afford it, even fewer could drive it at 50% of what is shown here….He has a one to one connection with that M2 CS….like a painter on a canvas.

I think the fact it was raining makes it that much more useful with a little common sense applied to the concepts. Parting out my Ps2 m235i coincidentally and this spec to an extent is what I’m getting. N55 sounds sooo sexual but you can get so much (MORE) without having to mod. No fuel controllers, no PI, no (better)HPFP , LPFP, decat,etc) with this. I think this spec is going to become one of those 25 yr gems. Not e46 💎, but gem. Just flash and void warranty 😜

if this M2 is build for grip which car would be better to try and drift? i'm kinda looking for an M2 Comp or an E9x M3

What I want to find out is, is it easier to do the drift and sliding with a manual m2 or an auto trans this whole thing looks very confusing and harder than I always thought as an m2 owner I have only done a few power slides but I am really scared to push the car this hard at the same time I feel like am missing the fun this ultimate machine I own 🙄
It is “easier” in a manual. What I suggest is start small at low speeds. As you become more comfortable build from there. 👍🏻
Of course Ben strongest point is probably teaching after teaching all those celebrities to drive round the tg track.

My advice to people who wish to drift is high a skid pan and a coach then move to a track

@@Motorflix just the excitement was a bit loud compared to the rest of the audio..04:30 was one example..there were others.. just sounds like shouting on the mic and doesn't comes across on the speakers well as it's very loud compared to the rest of the audio..otherwise was a good video 👍

@@Motorflix I think he means the talking parts are really quiet and actually hard to listen to at times. When the music cuts the volume drops to about 20% (especially noticeable at 1:30). In-car audio is not as bad though.
@@cw205mi16 very annoyingly walking up to the car there was some interference with one of the mics, only found out in the edit. It is only for 15 seconds or so though. Everything else was bang on the money. 👍🏻👍🏻 Hope you enjoyed the rest of it. 👍🏻
This is less drifting and more a grip racer nervously correcting for oversteer.
And also a good way to shorten the life of your car in about every respect. Look, let the RUclipsrs do the crazy shit, so we can sit back and watch them abuse their own hardware.
