I'm sorry to hear that you've had a bad day today, but I'm grateful, that you still found the strength to do your precious daily video for us. I send you much love and a big hug. Thank you Coco, my wonderful virtual girlfriend. 💜
My Uncle Petey loved "Maude." Uncle Petey was known for feeding all the neighborhood stray cats in the Richmond District in San Francisco, and he'd ring one of those triangle things like you see in the cowboy movies to let the cats know it was time to come eat. He kept the triangle thing on a hook on his back porch. He was in Herb Caen's column. Anyway, like I said Uncle Petey loved "Maude," and he was in the hospital with terminal cancer, this is back in the '70s, and he died watching "Maude." And my Grandma Rita, another beloved San Francisco eccentric, called up the night Uncle Petey died and she said "He was laughing at Walter, and he died." And it took us the longest time to figure out what she was talking about. Grandma Rita could get kind of incoherent in stressful situations. And she was known to pour herself a highball now and then. So somehow or other my mom made sense of what Grandma Rita was saying, and she stage whispered to me the key points of the conversation, the way you used to do in the days of landlines, and when my mother hung up the phone she said "He died watching 'Maude.' Not such a bad way to go." She was a wise lady my mom.
Wonderful story. See, we all have them. So, here's to your Uncle Petey and Grandma Rita! Eccentrics are beloved and they add color-even if it's off-to a drab world.
I met Bea Arthur when I worked at NBC back in the GG heyday. I took her & the GG cast to local interviews. One day, I ran into her on the 6th floor of 30 Rock. I knew she was due to be a guest on Late Night, so I showed her to the green room. I found her to be so elegant & surprisingly shy in that moment.) You're not losing your mind, I just posted this on your Twitter. I just adored her.) Be well, Miss Coco. Your stories are little gems. And they make my day. We’re in this with you.❤️
I had the please of seeing Bea and Billy on stage during her “And Then There’s Bea” in Thousand Oaks. That same night Rue McClanahan was there to see her friend on stage. Truly a night I will never forget!
I'm sorry to hear that you're having a bad day. But these little messages like the little things in life are really a big thing for many of us thank you for sharing with us all that you are. Much love
I am absolutely living for these daily thoughts but this one might be my favorite so far (though they've all been wonderful). Thank you for keeping my spirits up during this difficult and scary time! Much love to you!

This was really touching. Thank you for sharing and being able to be honest in saying it’s not a good day. 2020 has been difficult and with this virus going around, it’s hard to get out of the funk some days. Love this series and appreciate you!
I met Bea after her one woman show in Toronto - she was one of my favs also....i'm feeling a little shitty myself today.... take care stay well Coco. love from your Cdn Cocopuff
Thank you for sharing this story even though today was a bad day. You posting this helps others to have a better day just so you know!!! The small things always mean a big deal to other people!!! Rest well and tomorrow will be better.
From your tale, I feel I can conjure the expression on Bea Arthur's face as she stopped the old dear. I absolutely adored Ms. Arthur's eulogy for Charles Pierce (it's floating around on U-Tube now)!
I love Bea. I always loved her dry, direct and honest sense of humor. She seemed to just play herself in her characters, but it worked. I loved her sarcasm.
Miss Goddess Coco! I can listen to your stories all day! You are living proof that if you live your life for you, amazing things can be achieved. Continue to amaze us oh fabulous one!
Sorry your a bit down but ever so grateful you decided to share this with us. Imagine how dull our world would be were it not for these special people in life. I’ve always admired Bea Arthur, and to see what a caring person she was - even more so now. Thank you again.
Love this! For a brief moment I felt normal again. I saw Bea in Ft. Lauderdale back when she was touring her one women show before heading to Broadway. I think it was around 1999 or 2000 time frame. You are right Miss Coco.... She was such a classy lady but the first time she said the "F-Word" on stage the entire audience gasped which turned into laughter. I will never forget her. Thanks for posting this Miss Coco. Brought a ton of joy tonight thinking about Bea and the her one women show.
Thank you so much for this story, Coco. This really made my day. The Golden Girls are everything to me, especially Bea. I watch them every single day. I wish I could have met you on the set of Will & Grace. I was there last October on my birthday for the episode with the ruby slippers, and Jack buys your bar and renames it “Queers.” That episode finally aired not too long ago. :) I got to take a picture with the cast after the show because I had a VIP ticket, but they rushed everyone through it so fast. I wish I had tried to slow things down a bit and asked if you could get in the picture. Lots of love to you from one of your Coco Puffs.
“Darling...what the f##k are you talking about?” EPIC!!! Oh CoCo when you tell a story you tell it perfectly. I hope you sleep better tonight and feel better tomorrow. Thank you for making me feel better. Love you.❤️
Dear Coco, as so many others have mentioned, these daily videos mean so much. Please keep them coming. No pressure...OK pressure. A lot of pressure. Thank you for making things feel a little less scary.
Today is the day I need to send you love, light and laughter. You cheer me up so much everyday and I can tell you need energy sent to you. Please accept this big positive hug of energy sent straight to you sister Peru! We love u buttercup, keep ya chin up! XoXo
Miss Coco, please tell Clinton that the Met Opera org is streaming operas free nightly! You can watch anytime through the next day. Rossini's Barber of Seville was posted Tuesday evening. I also have a lovely Bea Arthur story from the Met. My parents were great opera lovers, stage musicals too. We grew up going to the ROH and West End shows and travelled to NY for Broadway and opera too. I was a teenager around 14yo with my father on a brief winter holiday in NY. One evening, we saw "La Fille du Regiment" (The Daughter of the Regiment) at the Met. There was a huge tabloid controversy at the time. Kathleen Battle had just been fired. Replaced last-minute by the lovely Harolyn Blackwell. Bea Arthur was in this production in a speaking role as the Duchess which, I was told, was rewritten by her friend, Charles Nelson Reilly. We got to meet Bea Arthur "backstage" afterwards and chat. She was very engaging. The funniest moment was when we roared as Bea Arthur called Kathleen Battle "The Cvnt of the French!" (Regiment) She then invited us to join her (and her entourage) for a late meal! It was such a magical evening.
Coco, I was having a bad day and clicked on this video because I just love your stories and knew listening to this one about Bea would cheer me up. It worked like a charm! Thank you for cheering me up on a shitty day!
I am so grateful for your perseverance in making these daily videos, they are indeed a little thing that make my day a little brighter. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.
Thank you Coco for taking the time even on a bad day to share some time with all of Us! I hope you can sleep peaceful tonight. Looking forward to hearing from you tomorrow. Thank you!
