Exactly. Unfortunately they have not pushed an update out in SSE or corresponded with me again about this. I’ll probably send them another message next week if I don’t hear anything to see if they have an idea as to what’s goin on
Still not resolved, I love the omnipoint switches but the fact that such an expensive keyboard is not functioning as intended (even if it is just lighting) is quite frustrating. I reached out to them again for an update and they basically said “What the last update we released for GG didn’t fix the problem?” No, it didn’t. Someone mentioned trying a USB 2.0, I’ll pull the keyboard out of the closet and try that sometime soon. Been using an Apex 9 TKL for a few weeks with no problems, those switches are quite nice as well (actually sound better imo) but I’m still haunted by the fact I have a brand new keyboard that’s not working as advertised lol
I’m thinking of buying apex pro 2023 are this issues fix or still people have them. I see its more than a year you have the keyboard. Whats your opinion?
The issues were fixed. The keyboard is a great keyboard in its price bracket. I actually ended up buying the ASUS ROG Azoth and haven't look back on any other keyboard I own. If you have the extra cash I would recommend the Azoth every time over other mass production offerings.
Hey Bud, is there a chance you have a solution on mine, same keyboard but on my tkl pro the letter keys are no longer working when pressing it, only the F keys and arrow keys are working..Back lights working too jsmust not the actual input function.. Thanks Bud
I just bought 3 because they were on sale for $149, one for me and each kid. Just checked after seeing this video and none of the three have this issue. They are also all plugged into USB 3 ports so not sure that’s the common denominator.
Beware of Apex Pro as the blue LED channel is really prone to failure after 1 year of normal use. MIne has already 2 keys with dead blue leds. Lots of posts in reddit describing this common issue.
Got mine yesterday and this just keeps happening no matter what I do so i’m assuming it’s a software issue. It’s easier to tell that’s it’s freezing if you have a gif on the oled panel.

I SPILLED RED BULL ON MY APEX PRO TKL, I CLEANED THE KEYBOARD AND WHEN I PLUGGED IT INTO MY PC AGAIN ALL THE LIGHT WENT OUT EXCEPT THE RIGHT ARROW KEY. BUT THE KEYBOARD STILL WORKS LIKE IM TYPING ON IT RIGHT NOW BUT I JUST NEED HELP GETTING THE LIGHT BACK. PLEASE SOMEONE HELLP ME
Mine worked fine out of box, but now has this same lighting issue after owning it for a few months. Using the same lighting profile I made when I bought it.
So what I’ve found so far is the default lighting works fine without Steelseries GG (engine) installed. Otherwise I have the issue. Someone mentioned I should try swapping the USB port for a 3.0 to a 2.0 but I haven’t tried it yet. I only have a couple USB 2.0s on my rear I/O and the last few weeks I’ve been using an Apex 9 TKL with 0 issues.
@@silverfoxweezy I just checked and the default profile seems to work fine with GG uninstalled. Reinstalled and the issue persists. I just switched to a USB 2.0 port as I wrote this and it appears to have worked. No longer stuttering or freezing. Odd considering it worked fine on USB 3.0 out of box with mine then stopped after a few months. Hopefully this is just some weird software quirk that will be patched in time.

Crazy thing is mine works fine on 2.0, doesn't work with the 3.0 on the back of the motherboard, but works fine with the 3.0 on the front panel of the PC lol, so I really don't know what's going on, I have a B550 MSI gaming plus

happens straight out of the box. I dont think its a software issue because of this... some boards work fine, others have this issue...

@@mrmeman98 can you reinstall the drivers? I had many key press problem at the beginning, but reinstalling the drivers fixed that problem. May be it will solve it for you. And check if you have the same problem over bluetooth. If it is ok with Bluetooth, that might be an indication of driver problem.

I’ve tried completely wiping all software and drivers for steelseries products, resetting the keyboard, moving USB ports, removing other software (I have iCue running my fan controllers and case lighting) The only time the issue isn’t present is when I remove Steelseries engine (GG) completely

They had me run thru some troubleshooting, requested some debug logs and system info and passed everything to their software team. I'm waiting for them to follow back up with me. This will get updated on my channel as I hear back and continue to work with Steelseries.
Yes they did eventually fix the issue, however I had already moved on to another keyboard by that time. I did plug it in and test to confirm it was fixed as I still have the keyboards

I don`t look at my keyboard lighting that much, but I see your point, almost. First world problems. Try that different PC (Non Ryzen/Try Windows 7/8 also).

I don't, I have an Apex Pro Mini (first gen) and an Apex Pro TKL 2023. I bought a second to see if there would be similar behavior between my original and the new one; then returned it. The Apex 9 TKL is from my other computer.
I just sent their support an e-mail and they replied the next day. It's definitely an issue with GG software. If you turn Prism control of the keyboard off the default lighting works properly. Some people have had success swapping to a USB 2.0 port, unfortunately my mobo doesn't have any lol

@@brezzy747 double pressing happens when a keyboard is in a humid area. Apex Pro has hall-effect keys that are better isolated. That's why airports use such keyboards because they're reliable.

Do you have the 2023 model? I've done resets among many other things at the request of Steelseries tech support and theres been no fix. Did this with two brand new 2023 models same results.
I like my eye candy tho! lol It's really just distracting, and a shame that their flagship keyboard is having this issue. But you're not wrong, it'll get sorted eventually.
I have one apex pro tkl. Bought a second to test another one and compare the results. Once I was done I returned one when I was finished. Why would I keep it? lol
@@lucutes2936 I was using a Razer Huntsman TKL V2 with the linear switches that went on the fritz prior to the Steelseries, loved it but it didn't last very long unfortunately. I used all Razer products for quite a while, and i still use the Viper V2 Pro from time to time. Excellent mouse. My Naga pro on the other hand, too many issues (and I have 2 of them lol) All in all most brands have their pros and cons.

My apex 7 tkl had the same problem, been avoiding steelseries rgb products since then
2023 version still has this issue. I just RMA'd mine for this exact reason. Oh well.

The LED for the lighting is located on the top side of the switch. I posted a photo in the community section of my channel.
