- My name is Chrome i have been living in y cargo van for 6 years now. I started this lifestyle BROKE and IN DEBT and after 11 months of living the van life i cleared my debt and started to put my life back together and build for a better future. I have turned my original van into a badass camper van that is lifted with all the toys. Over the years i went from being broke and stealth camping in the city and sleeping at walmarts... to now, living fulltime in a jacked up van and driving deep off-grid into the backcountry and living life in the dirt. WOW LIFE HAS CHANGED.

Number of views and likes don't influence Chrome's revenue, so your point about not explaining himself to viewers makes complete sense. Subscribers come and go no need to worry if they deserve explanations. lol.

I watch you because your vids are real. I appreciate that you dont sugar coat van life. You are allowed your frustrations and you're allowed to vent. I know if my sticks and bricks home was dusty like that, I'd be miserable as heck too! Keep being real and keep your chin up!

Early spring maintenance checklist; thoroughly checked all seals on the doors on the van and the floor before summer ever gets here. Replace it if needed. 😊
Keep your rubber seals cleaned and treated so they don't dry out and will create a better seal. You can buy products to treat them at Walmart. You can do it when you wash your van after coming out of the bush. Well worth the effort! Take it from someone who lives in dry Arizona!

@@charisma-hornum-friesDETAILER HERE: Don’t use wd40 it dries out the rubber And seals! Don’t always believe everything you read on the internet. Ask a Auto Detailer- 303 Automotive Protectant is the best option for this!
I always wipe vaseline or similar on the rubber to keep it flexible and durable.
In the winter, helps repel water to prevent freezing.
I think a small-town summer tour would be awesome Chrome. I love seeing the older buildings, the decor of the town and the people, and even their special foods their k own for!!

Yes, the year you and Emi traveled East and stopped to check out all the little towns and 'ghost' areas was super fun.
You can test your weatherstripping with a strip of paper. Shut it in the door and drag it around and you'll get a feel for the seal by the drag or lack of.
You might consider sealing the Dog House where it meets the floor for sound, heat and dust.
Also check and seal around the doghouse. There was entry through there as well when you were driving. (Rewatched that video. )

Avoiding the summer dusty season is no problem, dust is not fun..... especially if it always gets into your house.
Once your air conditioning is working try running your fans with windows closed to create positive air.
Run your max air fan so it blows the cleaner air at roof level into the van. Also if you borrow a disco smoke machine, set it in the van and blow air in you will see where the smoke leaks out, these are your dust entry holes.
I'm surprised he didn't turn the fan on to simulate he AC being on.

YUP! Positive air pressure inside the van will reduce the dust infiltration.
When you're not traveling, you can buy a sofa bed and sleep at the shop,figure out what's really the problem, and then you can start traveling and sleep in your van.
I don't enjoy back country unless it's educational somehow, I want a close-up and personal look a plants,flowers, trees, lichens, rocks, drift wood, waterfall, shore lines and wild life, etc...I'm not so much into the driving about. I hope you solved your problems. 😊 ❤

You can test seals! Just use a long piece of ribbon. Shut the door on it and pull. There should be a resistance. 1 inch Christmas ribbon works great. Where the leak is, it will slide easily.
A sofa bed or two would be a fantastic idea for upstairs in the shop. Chrome, you bring people together, make sure it’s comfortable for you and your vanlife family!💕🙏🏼

Maybe apply some silicone grease from time to time to those seals,it will keep them supple and seal better

Can’t blame you chrome for being frustrated with all the dust coming in. Maybe now you got it fixed never known to get back out there, but whatever you do and share I’ll be here watching anything and everything you share.👍👍
Might sound silly but, wide blue painters tape would be able to seal the back and side doors quite well from dust and take 5 minutes to apply and remove. Not permanent but, it would suffice.
Chrome every now and then condition the rubber seals it helps them last longer
I'm from Maine and if it were me?, I'd keep it on the pavement in the summer! I know all too well how that dust will ruin your day fast!! Rubber side down and keep er between the ditches🤙🤙
For those of us who don't live in Canada, it would be cool for you to show us the touristy towns. I live in the backcountry here in Georgia and it looks a lot like what I see on your channel (except for snow).

Back roads in the fall and winter. Keep cool this summer you and Cruzie. But however you live it I’m here for it.
On your travel, ask some farmers with huge tractors. I think they have some inside cabin pressure system to keep that dust from entering the tractor, combine, harvester cabins.
Hey chrome those seals need a lubricant spray. Allows the seal to soften and reseal the doors.

You are speaking to my heart. I’ve never been able to stay put. I’ve rented I’ve owned and after a little bit I’m sick of being there. When I rent normally I’m gone when my lease is up. I find being in the beaten path to be so re-generating. So glad I made the decision one year ago July 15 to at 60 years young to give up my apartment move into my Equinox for a month then buy my van. Now my home goes where ever I want. Love your channel keep being real.

While you are at the shop turn all lights off in the shop then turn all the lights are on in the van and see if you have any gaps

Chrome just a thought maybe you could hang a one or two piece curtain in the back of your van between the doors and your interior so when you close your doors you are creating a barrier to preventing dust from getting in through the back

Hope it works. We replaced all our seals and still get leaks around the back door. 🤠. Can also pull a foam or rubber insert thru the seal for a little extra seal

Honestly Chrome, I think minimizing the back country time during summer is a great idea. Too busy and too many variables like fires. Hit up shows, festivals, towns etc with the odd day at the river.

Hi Chrome, I noticed when you were working on the backdoor. That the floor molding had several holes that were not plug. That might be a dust problem . Lots of love.
